Here’s what one scoop (30.1g) of THE ISO:WHEY contains:

As you would expect with any high quality whey protein isolate, THE ISO:WHEY is only 110 calories and packs 25g of protein per serving.   • Instantized Whey Protein Isolate

    A pretty short and simple ingredient list!

    The first ingredient listed in THE ISO:WHEY is instantized whey protein isolate, which just means that the powder is sprayed with either soy or sunflower lecithin to improve mixability. It doesn’t list soy lecithin with the ingredients, however the allergen warning states that THE ISO:WHEY contains milk and soy, which is a good indicator that Myprotein uses soy lecithin to instantized the protein powder. Since some people are allergic to soy, that’s definitely one thing we would want to change about this product. But, it’s a small amount, thus it shouldn’t be much of an issue for most people, just something to be aware of.

    WPI vs WPC – Which one is better?

    Whey protein isolate (WPI) is the only protein source included in THE ISO:WHEY, so you know it’s delivering the entire 25g of protein per scoop.There are two main types of whey protein that you’ll find in the sports supplement industry — whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate. Both are high quality protein sources and derived from dairy, but each one has its own pros and cons. Whey protein concentrate (WPC) can be anywhere from 34% to 80% protein by weight — the rest of the powder is made up of fats, carbs, sugars, and lactose.

    THE WHEY includes a blend of whey protein isolate, concentrate, and hydrolysate.

    If you don’t have any issues with dairy products, WPC is a great option, however we always recommend looking for WPC80, meaning it’s 80% protein by weight. Some brands will list this on the label, while others do not, so make sure to check for that! WPC is less processed than WPI, therefore it retains a larger portion of immunoglobulins, which provide additional health benefits. However, the main issue with WPC is that it has a much higher lactose content and may cause digestive problems.

    On the other hand, WPI undergoes additional processing to remove nearly all of the lactose, fats, and carbohydrates, leaving behind a powder that’s 90% protein by weight. With THE ISO:WHEY Myprotein utilized an advanced filtration system to separate out all lactose from the whey protein isolate, therefore you should have no digestive issues with this protein.

    Both WPC and WPI are fast digesting, rich in essential amino acids (especially leucine), and are phenomenal for post workout to spike muscle protein synthesis and kick start recovery. WPI tends to be a bit more expensive than WPC, which is why you may see a higher price tag on THE ISO:WHEY compared to other protein powders on the market. Overall, WPI is the most pure protein source available and that’s exactly why Myprotein uses it as the only source of protein in THE ISO:WHEY.

  • DigeZyme Enzyme Blend

    The next ingredient included in THE ISO:WHEY is a trademarked blend of digestive enzymes called DigeZyme.

    DigeZyme is one of the more popular digestive enzyme blends in the industry — we’ve seen it included in a wide variety of products, from greens to protein powders.     A study published in 2016 found that consuming 50mg of DigeZyme three times per day resulted in a significant decrease in pain, soreness, and markers of muscle damage, following a standardized eccentric resistance exercise program.[2] The only issue with THE ISO:WHEY is that we don’t know exactly what dose is used for the DigeZyme. However, with 25g of protein from WPI, along with DigeZyme, that should be enough to fuel recovery and beyond.

    The main ingredients for THE ISO:WHEY are all wrapped up, but in order to make this protein powder enjoyable to drink, Myprotein needs to add in a few extra ingredients!

    Natural and artificial flavors and sweeteners (sucralose and ace-K) are used to create that sweet, dessert like flavor. Cellulose gum is added to improve consistency and thickness. Lastly, depending on the flavor, you’ll find other ingredients that help create the flavor, such as cocoa powder for Chocolate Smooth. Other than that, the “other ingredients” list is fairly short, which is what we like to see!
