Since BPI Sports was founded in late 2009, Be Powerful, Inc. has really grown and continued to turn heads of many in the bodybuilding and athletic communities. The affordable prices, creative products (like the Funnbar), and some of their gourmet flavors have brought attention to the company. The innovation that the company holds is also causing BPI Sports to re-set their bar, redefining the products on their line up.
BPI has recently blasted their products with new packaging and engineering, and are said to have a new product coming out named ISO-HD.
ISO-HD offers 100% isolate and hydrolysate protein, for quick absorption and lean muscle growth, all with less carbs and fat. It will also be incredibly low in lactose, so lactose-sensitive individuals can take it, whereas they cannot take standard whey protein products.
Time will tell if it will be enough to crack our top 10 protein powders list/guide, but a few stores claim to have it in stock already, and more will come. You can compare prices and sign up for price drop alerts below:

What to expect with ISO-HD
Hydrolysate protein is a processed protein, and isolates are whey proteins isolated from the sugars and fats of the milk protein itself. Whey concentrate, however, is a more simple and less-filtered form of whey (milk) proteins, including the milk sugars and fat.
As with all whey isolate proteins, you can expect more protein per total calories. Less fat, less carbs, more lean muscle supporting protein, and potentially quicker muscle recovery times. This particular product offers 25g of protein per serving, but this is all of the nutrition data we can scoop up at this time.
Whey isolates are more rapidly absorbed than a whey concentrates.[1] For some, this will be an awesome post-workout protein to stack with your current favorite whey concentrate, or to try on it’s own as a post or mid-workout supplement. One of the other great benefits of a whey isolate protein powder is that it contains only trace elements of lactose; the whey proteins have been isolated. With only trace elements of lactose, these products are friendly for the lactose-intolerant consumer.
The ISO-HD Ingredients
Each scoop (not sure to the size) will have:
- 130 calories
- 25g protein (from whey protein isolate and whey protein hydrolysate)
- 3g carbohydrates, 1g is sugar (not sure where from… the protein?)
- 1g fat (0.5g saturated)
- 0g fiber
The carb count is slightly higher than other whey isolates, especially since there’s no added maltodextrin. We have to believe those carbs are naturally occurring in the isolate.
The total ingredients list is as follows: Fast absorption whey matrix (whey protein isolate, whey protein hydrolysate), natural & artificial flavors, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, carrageenan, silicon dioxide, lecithin (from soy and / or sunflower), sucralose, and acesulfame potassium.
The Flavors
We anticipate a great-tasting whey isolate when we hear it’s coming from a name like BPI. Here’s what BPI says we can expect with their ISO-HD.
We know that there will be chocolate brownie, cookies & cream, vanilla cookie, and banana cream pie flavors.
ISO-HD claims to have the most advanced flavoring technology – a “first of its kind” – the result: “you have to taste to believe it.”
For those who really like a good tasting protein shake, this is a claim that is worth getting excited about. However, if the flavoring technology is anything like BPI Sport’s Whey HD, there will be an array of differing opinions on the taste of the up and coming isolate.
With Whey-HD’s original flavor, we loved chocolate cookie, but vanilla fell a bit short. Other flavors received very, very mixed reviews.
There have been many reviews from BPI fans and first time buyers alike, with reviews from “I love it,” to the dreaded “I will never buy this again.” Some consumers have complained of a taste of chemicals, others have reported clumpiness, and yet others have said that this “chocolate cookie shake hit the nail on the head.”
Pure isolates are notoriously harder to flavor, so we hope they have their issues resolved to make for a more diverse palette-friendly formula. Note that Whey-HD was BPI’s first stab at a protein powder, and they did pretty good with flavoring the first version, all things considered.
If you’re trying to replace meals with your shakes, or just want something extremely tasty, buy a trial size first so you can see what you’re getting yourself into – it may be your new favorite whey isolate.
Regarding price: Expect Value!
This is yet another very appealing interest to supplement shoppers in the marketplace. Great pricing could add to the reasons that this may be your new favorite, as BPI is claiming INSANE PRICING” in the email blast (picture shown above and below).
The bad news is that isolates are simply more expensive – you can pick up a 2lb tub of premium whey isolate for anywhere from $28-55 (see our whey protein isolate page), and that is expensive compared to non-isolate alternatives at 2lbs (you can see the current hot deals on our supplement deals page or on the top of our protein powder page).
Note, however, that ISO-HD will be available in 1.6lb and 5lb sizes — not 2lbs. This is why we like to calculate the total amount of protein per dollar on our deals page, staying away from amino acid spiked protein.
The good news is BPI’s below-average pricing can hopefully point us below the $25 range. Knowing BPI and their Whey HD, their price compared to some of their premium competitors, actually is below market average.

The innovation and the flavor seem to be there. We’ve got only a little while longer before we see a new, decent priced whey protein isolate hit the market. ISO-HD claims mouth watering flavors and killer prices, and it sounds rather tempting. The new ISO-HD, though unseen for now, will be a big hit, as BPI Sports is one of the fastest growing supplement companies out there. Now, only time will tell.
