Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate Clears the Way for Refreshing Flavors

Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate

Protein powder’s about to get a whole lot juicier! Meet Myprotein’s Clear Whey Isolate

We’ve seen variations of protein powders made every way til Sunday, with various ingredients chasing various effects and of course, flavors. Since the vast majority of powders are derived from milk, however, they tend to be thick and opaque, almost milkshake-like in taste and texture. Leave it to one of the brands who knows how to make a solid protein powder to try and shift that standard…

Protein powder goes… clear?!

Myprotein, the United Kingdom-based supplement brand that has reigned supreme in Europe since its advent in 2004, has begun moving their effective and innovative products stateside. Not only are they looking to explore new markets, but they’re also looking to shake up the protein powder game, as well. Their newest release, Clear Whey Isolate, is a refreshing take on protein powder – this whey protein isolate is built to taste more like a sweet juice or beverage as opposed to the “shakes” spread throughout the industry. It maintains the effectiveness and satisfying taste we’ve come to expect in top-notch isolates, yet in an unconventional way!

Read on for more about Myprotein’s Clear Whey Isolate, as we’ll discuss its ingredients, macronutrients, and enticingly-sweet flavors! Before we get into that, make sure you’re subscribed to PricePlow for the latest supplement deals, news, reviews, and interviews!

Clear Whey Isolate – a “juice-like” protein drink!

While standard protein powders are effective and often tasty, not everyone is always in the mood for a thick, milkshake-like shake! That’s just how it was with the raw dairy materials provided to the industry. Myprotein recognized opportunity, and has changed the game by releasing an alternative for those looking for a smoother, juicier way to get their protein in!

Uses whey protein isolate (WPI)

Clear Whey Isolate is an entirely different type of protein drink when compared to other options. Yes, it’s made using whey protein isolate (WPI), one of the fastest-digesting protein sources available. Due to less fats, carbohydrates, and sugars, WPIs are typically a bit easier to digest and come with leaner nutritional profiles.

Clear Whey Isolate

Clear Whey Isolate comes in juicier, fruitier flavors

At around 90% protein by weight, the WPI raw ingredients are packed with muscle-building peptide-bound aminos and little else. This yields an insanely high protein-to-weight ratio.[1] It’s notably low in lactose, the dairy-based sugar that causes digestion problems for some.[2] While it’s not completely free of lactose, WPIs tend to be a better option for those who’ve historically had issues with dairy!

Where Clean Whey Isolate diverges is in terms of texture and taste, both of which are attributed to that fact that this product contains mainly whey protein isolate (WPI), and given this clear profile, it’s likely a new even more highly-purified form of the raw material.

Work with the thin texture, not against it!

Being broken down further than its whey protein concentrate counterpart, this ingredient will have a “thinner” texture when compared to other milk-based proteins. This is where it’s simply a matter of preference, because rather than work against the thinness, Myprotein’s working with it!

They pair the thinner texture with juice-like flavors, such as Lemon-Lime and Peach Tea, something that’s almost unseen in the world of protein powders!

Clear Whey Isolate has clean macros!

Here’s what each 25g scoop of Clear Whey Isolate delivers (hint: it’s insanely lean):

Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate Ingredients

How’s this for a label?! 20g protein, 80 calories… you do the math on the carbs and fats!

  • Calories: 80
  • Protein: 20g
  • Carbohydrates: Less than 1g
    • Sugars: 0g
  • Fat: 0g

And that’s that!

European version – different protein source?

Note that the United States version uses WPI, while Myprotein seems to offer a different variation in Europe. The ingredients listed for the European variate lists whey protein hydrolysate (WPH) as opposed to WPI. WPH is whey protein isolate that’s been hydrolyzed to further break down amino acids in an effort to make the powder more readily absorbed.[3] With the hydrolyzation process, enzymes are used to break the bonds, requiring your body to do less work since its already begun that first phase of digestion!

The jury’s still out on whether WPH is truly superior, but nonetheless, both WPI and WPH are highly effective sources of protein. So, depending on where you’re reading this from, your ingredients label may slightly differ! We’ve contacted Myprotein to see if there’s any big differences the end consumers will notice.

Different laws, different labels

In case you were curious as to the exactness of these macros and their relationship to the two different versions we’ve touched on (U.S. and Europe), it turns out they’re slightly different! Now, they’re not truly different – rather, their inconsistencies are a matter of the nutritional information laws governing each area! In this U.S, you’ll get numbers rounded to the nearest 0.5g, 1g, or 10g, depending on how much of the given ingredient is present. This allows for the fat and sugar listing to be displayed as zero, despite a tiny bit of each being present.

In the European version, Myprotein, a UK-based company, is simply following the EU guidelines that require calories be listed to the nearest 1 kilocalorie and the macronutrients to the nearest 0.1g (if under 10g).[4] This level of accuracy just emphasizes how clean this nutritional profile is – with less than 1g of carbs and barely any sugars or fats, Clear Whey Isolate manages to deliver a solid 20g of protein!

Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate Mojito

Mojito flavored protein?! Now we’ve seen it all. Make it ice cold!!

Regardless of the variate you’re looking at, you’re getting a great protein dose and almost no carbs, sugars, or fats. This must be an insanely well-purified raw material. We’re more than happy to get that much protein without any excess fats or carbs because then you can choose how to round out your diet.

Flavors available

Myprotein uses the thin texture of Clear Whey Isolate to their advantage. With a few additional sweeteners – natural and artificial sweeteners, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium (“Ace-K”) – Clean Whey Isolate delivers a refreshing, juicy flavor that is quite different from most other protein powders. It tastes and feels like a true recovery drink, and it’s awesome taste absolutely stuns your tastebuds.

Here are the available flavors you can find:

    Myprotein clears the whey

As if the name didn’t make this explicit, Myprotein knows protein. The brand has diversified over the years, now offering an array of training supplements, snacks, and clothing that are as high-quality as their reputation would suggest. That being said, Myprotein originally made their name through the ever-popular muscle-building macronutrient. From Impact Whey to Slow-Release Casein to Pea Protein Isolate, the brand has virtually every corner of proteins covered. But this is a whole new level, great for a drink after a hot workout or a summertime snack when it’s time for something thin and fruity, not “rich”.

Conclusion – Clear Whey Isolate is a welcome addition to the Myprotein family!

    Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate Lemonade

Brilliant idea. Rumor has it that you have to shake it pretty hard, so have at it with this one!

If you’re a regular reader here on PricePlow, you’ve probably tried an array of different protein powders and have formed differing opinions about each one. One of the leaders in this market is Myprotein, and they’ve successfully shaken things up a bit!

They’ve expanded into other areas over the years, but it’s protein that’s always been their “bread-and-butter”. This newest release follows a divergent path, delivering a solid protein dose accompanied by unconventional tastes!

Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate is an efficaciously dosed whey protein isolate that goes against the grain most of its dairy-based counterparts have set. Clear Whey Isolate goes for a thinner, more refreshing, sweeter fruit flavor, complete with the incredible macronutrients you’d expect in a WPI. Despite taking a different route, it remains an effective, great-tasting product, falling in line with what one would expect with Myprotein!

If you’ve grown tired of the thicker, creamier feel in your protein drink, Clear Whey Isolate should provide a great alternative, especially after a smokin’ hot workout!
