Musclesport Lean Whey Rocky Road Concludes Summer Scoops 2023

Over the years we’ve had a lot of fun trying out all the interesting flavors dropped by Musclesport. Led by Jason Mancuso, also known as the “Supp Chef”, Musclesport cannot be accused of taking a cookie-cutter approach when it comes to flavoring, particularly when it comes to their Lean Whey protein formulation.

We’ve gotten some truly decadent flavors recently for their 2023 Summer Scoops lineup, including Orange Creamsicle, Root Beer Float, Ice Cream Pistachio, and Toasted Almond. Post-workout shakes are never boring with Lean Whey.

Rocky Road Lean Whey Closes Down Summer Scoops 2023

In standard fashion, we’re getting another new flavor of Lean Whey, and this time it’s Rocky Road, the classic fudgy ice cream flavor. Summer’s not over yet, but this is the conclusion of an incredible 2023 summer run.

This isn’t the first time Rocky Road has been available, though – there’s some backstory here. In 2021, Musclesport had some extra chocolate flavoring, so they decided to release a very limited 500 tub batch, which sold out in two weeks. The lucky few who received it have been asking for more for two years now!

Well, today’s the day. Rocky Road has been in the wings, just waiting to make its triumphant return.

We’re going to dive into a little summary on how Musclesport Lean Whey works, but first, let’s check the PricePlow for good Musclesport deals, and check out our video review of the new flavor:

What is Rocky Road Ice Cream?

Musclesport Summer Scoops Rocky Road

Rocky Road ice cream is a classic flavor that mixes some exquisite tastes and textures. It generally features a creamy base of chocolate ice cream, mixed in with marshmallows and crunchy almonds to add the satisfying crunch.

With a perfect mix of creamy, sweet, salty, and nutty, Rocky Road is a flavor that is completely addicting when done right. And thankfully, Musclesport knows how to do flavors right.

To make this flavor system happen, you’ll see in the label below that we have marshmallow bits, graham cracker pieces, almond flour, and dark chocolate shavings – wow!

Musclesport Lean Whey – How It Works

Lean Whey is not just a protein powder. The formula is bolstered by ingredients like MCTs and Ignitor to provide your body the tools it needs to properly digest and absorb the protein. Each 35g scoop of Lean Whey contains the following ingredients:

  • Whey protein: including a combination of whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed whey protein, Lean Whey contains a nice 25 grams of protein. Most importantly, this blend helps up your protein intake in an easily-digestible manner, which means more protein that can actually be utilized by your muscles.
  • Fibersol-2: a source of soluble fiber that aids in maintaining proper gut health and the removal of toxins.
  • Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs): healthy saturated fats that are quickly converted into ketone bodies, allowing them to be rapidly used for energy. In addition MCTs have gut health benefits.
  • L-Carnitine L-Tartrate: critical for mitochondrial function due to its ability to shuttle fatty acids, allowing for the conversion of these acids to ATP, the body’s energy currency.
  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): an omega-6 fatty acid that has been shown to support fat loss in dieters who aren’t getting enough CLA from diet alone, such as those following a low-fat plan.
  • Lactase: The digestive enzyme that helps break down lactase – the primary milk sugar that can often cause issues in lactose-sensitive individuals.

What a Summer of Protein Decadence

Being dairy-based, whey protein powders are particularly suited to rich, dessert-like flavors. Typically consumed after a workout, this kind of satiating heaviness feels like what the doctor ordered.

Within this flavoring paradigm, there are a lot of routes for brands to take. Many, if not most, brands opt to stick to the staples: chocolate, vanilla, and maybe strawberry. While these flavors are all well and good, sometimes it’s nice to shake it up – to sip on a shake that tastes like any number of unhealthy desserts.

That’s why flavors like Rocky Road hit so well. While your fitness goals and dietary plan may not have room for pigging out a big tub of chocolatey, marshmallow ice cream, there is certainly room for a protein shake that mimics the taste – and does it extremely well.
