Core MRP: A Full-Spectrum Meal Replacement from Core Nutritionals

Core MRP Blueberry

Looking for a high-quality meal replacement powder. Core MRP has what you need!

Before we dive into what Core MRP is all about, let’s go back to 2004 — where it all started. At the time, Doug Miller, CEO of Core Nutritionals, was an up-and-coming natural bodybuilder looking to earn his pro card. In order to make a living, Doug worked a desk job, thus meal prepping was a must.

In order to get in enough calories to fuel his intense training sessions, Doug had to pack a few meals to bring to work every day, because missing a meal would mean missing out on gains. Anyone who’s meal prepped in the past knows that it gets very monotonous, and there are many times where it would be more convenient to have a nutritious shake on hand to slam down and get back to work.

Doug was no different, so he searched for an adequate meal replacement powder, only to find products that were filled with low-quality ingredients and virtually no micronutrients. The definition of a meal may be different depending on who you ask, but to most bodybuilders, a meal consists of moderate carbohydrates, low to moderate fats, high protein, a good amount of fiber, and plenty of micronutrients!

Not only did Doug want the drink to taste good, but he also wanted the ingredients to be of high quality. No meal replacement supplement lived up to Doug’s standards, so he decided to make his own — and that’s how Core MRP was created.

Core MRP: Made With High-Quality Ingredients Only

Doug started Core Nutritionals in 2005, and Core MRP was the very first product he launched. Fast forward to 2020, Core has undergone a massive rebrand, and Core MRP looks and tastes quite different from the first version.

Not to mention, Core now has hundreds of products and is one of the most well-respected brands in the sports nutrition industry because they only use premium ingredients, fully transparent labels (listing the exact amounts of each ingredient), and never “pixie dust”, meaning every supplement has clinically substantiated dosages.

Core Nutritionals has a lot going on this year, but for this article, we’re going to focus on Core MRP and the limited-edition flavors they have released for the holiday season! Just a few months ago, Core launched the new and improved Core MRP, which has already been a huge hit.

Core MRP 101

Core Nutritionals formulated MRP to be an adequate meal replacement, thus they included a good balance of slow-digesting carbohydrates, a sustained-release protein blend, healthy fats, a variety of micronutrients from whole food sources, and fiber to keep you satisfied for hours. Core MRP can be used at any time of the day instead of a meal. The label recommends mixing two scoops with 8 to 16 ounces of cold water, but you can vary the amount of liquid to suit your preferences.

Don’t forget to try Core MRP as a pudding!

Core MRP is also great for baking, and makes an awesome protein pudding — just mix two scoops with a small amount of water until it has a pudding consistency and place it in the fridge or freezer for approximately 20 minutes.

As you can tell, Core MRP is incredibly versatile and with only 270 calories, it should easily fit into anyone’s diet!

Now that the macros and micros for Core MRP are covered, let’s see what ingredients Core Nutritionals uses to make one of the most premium meal replacement powders on the market. It all starts with high-quality carbohydrates, protein, and fats!

“At Core Nutritionals, a meal is well-balanced, nutritious, and most importantly delicious. Yet most “meal supplements” are full of filler carbohydrates, low-grade proteins, and chalky flavor mixtures that have little taste and even less nutrition. We would hate to see the “meals” these supplements are supposedly substituting.

Core MRP is a better solution – a true meal supplement, not a meal imposter. Grain-sourced carbohydrates, not fillers, and high glycemic carbohydrates. Rich protein sources from high-quality whey and casein, not bottom-of-the-barrel powders. Premium flavors, digestive enzymes, and vitamins and minerals from real whole foods, not whatever else was lying around. Everything your body needs in an instantized, easy-mixing, convenient, and delicious blend.”

Core MRP Ingredients

For this section, we’re going to divide the ingredients into the following categories: carbs, protein, fats, vitamins/minerals, digestive enzymes, and other ingredients. The “other ingredients” section consists of all the ingredients Core uses to create their delicious flavors and enhance the mixability and consistency of the powder.

Needless to say, Core packs a good amount of nutrients into every serving of Core MRP, which we appreciate. Keep in mind that the “other ingredients” section may vary slightly from flavor to flavor, but the primary components in this list will stay the same.

Without further ado, here are the main ingredients you will find in every flavor of Core MRP!

Primary Carbohydrate Source

  • Core MRP Recipe

Core MRP is great to bake with!

Oat Flour – 32g (also provides 5g of protein)

Core MRP is using oat flour as the primary carbohydrate source because it’s low-glycemic, which means that it won’t spike your insulin levels and leave you tired and hungry an hour later. Oats are also rich in other beneficial nutrients such as beta-glucans and fiber.

Don’t forget – oats provide some protein!

It’s important to note that Core MRP is one of the only meal replacement supplements with a fully disclosed protein blend (shown below). In other words, you know exactly how much protein is coming from each source. We bring this up now because the label notes that the 32 grams of oat flour also delivers five grams of protein. However, oat flour is not the primary source of protein, so let’s see what’s providing you with the rest of the protein.

Primary Protein Source(s)

Core MRP is using a unique combination of fast and slow-digesting proteins to create a sustained-release protein blend.

This includes:

  • Cold-Processed Undenatured Whey Protein Concentrate – 14g (yielding 11.2g protein)

  • Milk Protein Isolate – 6.75g (yielding 5.4g protein)

  • Cross-Flow Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolate – 6g (yielding 5.4g protein)

The label not only lists the protein sources, but it also notes how they are processed and exactly how much protein each source is yielding. Therefore, if you combine the oat flour (5 grams) with the whey protein concentrate (11.2 grams), milk protein isolate (5.4 grams), and whey protein isolate (5.4 grams), you will end up with a total of 27 grams of protein per serving. Every protein source that Core MRP uses is rich in the nine essential amino acids that are crucial for muscle protein synthesis, as well as muscle growth and repair.

Primary Fat Source

  • Coconut Oil Creamer

Core MRP only contains six grams of fat, which isn’t a crazy amount, but it’s enough to slow down the digestion of the entire formula and kick in some healthy medium-chain triglycerides. This helps keep you fuller for longer, thus limiting the chance of hunger cravings. Coconut oil is also used to make the powder more rich and creamy, so you actually look forward to drinking Core MRP.

Whole Food Based Vitamin & Mineral Blend

One of the main things that changed between the previous version of Core MRP and the 2020 version is that they switched from using synthetic vitamins and minerals to a whole-food-based vitamin & mineral blend. Core MRP is one of the few meal replacement supplements that use real foods, such as kale, spinach, sweet potato, broccoli, sunflower seeds, kelp, chlorella, and mushrooms, to provide you with a variety of key micronutrients.

  • Core Pro Fruity Cereal

Core Pro features the same protein blend as Core MRP, without the carbohydrates.

  • Spinach

  • Kale

  • Pumpkin

  • Sweet Potato

  • Sunflower Seed

  • Kelp

  • Chlorella

  • Maitake Mushroom

  • Shiitake Mushroom

DigeSEB (Digestive Enzyme Blend)

Since Core MRP contains a good amount of carbohydrates, protein, fats, and micronutrients, Doug decided to add a trademarked digestive enzyme blend known as DigeSEB. The digestive enzymes will help your body break down and absorb all of the nutrients that Core MRP provides. You can also find DigeSEB in Core Pro, Core Nutritionals sustained-release protein powder.

Here’s a list of the enzymes that are included in DigeSEB and what nutrients they act upon:

  • Amylases – breaks down starches

  • Lactase – breaks down lactose (milk sugar)

  • Proteases – breaks down various protein molecules

  • Lipase – breaks down lipids (fats)

  • Cellulase – breaks down cellulose (a polysaccharide)

Other Ingredients

Here are some other ingredients included in Core MRP to improve the flavor, consistency, texture, and mixability:

  • Natural Flavors – adds flavor

  • Xanthan Gum – acts as a thickening agent

  • Sucralose – sweetener

  • Sunflower Lecithin – improves mixability

Core MRP Flavors

For 2020, Core Nutritionals decided to do something special for Core MRP… not only did they revamp the formula and update the label, they completely redid all of the flavors. They were known for having delicious flavors in the past across the entire Core MRP lineup but had to make the new flavors even better.

Core MRP is now available in vanilla poundcake, blueberry crumb cake, double chocolate oatmeal, and peanut butter oatmeal. If that’s not good enough, Core Nutritionals also decided to release two seasonal flavors for Core MRP — pumpkin pie and chocolate caramel candy bar — which we expect to sell out in no time!

Core Nutritionals isn’t slowing down anytime soon so check back for an updated list of all available Core MRP flavors:

Stay on Track with Core MRP

Nutrition, training, sleep, recovery, and managing stress levels are all key components of achieving your health and fitness goals. However, some would argue that proper nutrition is king because it’s extremely difficult to out-train a bad diet. You can train hard, sleep eight hours per night, keep your stress levels low, but if your diet doesn’t follow suit, then you can kiss your progress goodbye.

    Core MRP Stack

Never miss a meal with Core MRP.

Not to mention, nowadays it’s easier than ever to cheat on your diet, skip a meal, or grab fast food on the way home from work or school, instead of fueling your body with the nutrients it needs to perform. Core Nutritionals understands the importance of proper nutrition, which is exactly why they offer several supplements to keep you on track, such as Core MRP, Core Pro, Core Greens, and Core Multi.

Doug Miller and Core Nutritionals want to provide you with the tools to get results and Core MRP is a primary example of that goal. It’s perfect for anyone with a busy lifestyle that doesn’t want to spend too much time meal prepping. Moreover, Core MRP comes in several delicious flavors to curb your cravings for something sweet.

Remember that Core MRP’s seasonal flavors are now available, but they won’t be for long. Before you go, subscribe below for more Core Nutritionals news, deals, reviews, and interviews from PricePlow!
