Performax Labs AlphaMax XT: Full-Grown Test Booster

AlphaMax XT

Performax Labs unveils the latest version of the popular all-natural muscle building supplement AlphaMax XT.

Earlier this week, Performax Labs finally unveiled the eagerly awaited sequel to its popular muscle-builder AlphaMax. The new version, AlphaMax XT, carries over five ingredients from its predecessor, but enlists a nice upgrade.

AlphaMax XT is designed to bump free and total testosterone up, control estrogen levels, support lean mass gains, and even provides a couple key vitamins and minerals to help with this along the way.

AlphaMax XT Ingredients

Performax Labs AlphaMax XT Ingredients

AlphaMax XT is a rarity in the muscle-builder supplement arena using a completely open label.

Just like the original, AlphaMax XT uses a transparently dosed label. The most notable ingredient that’s been removed is Arimistane, in lieu of DHAA. However, the new profile is much more comprehensive and well-rounded than its predecessor.

Note that the doses listed are for two capsules, which we take twice daily (with food). We’ve updated the post to demonstrate that:

  • Free & Total Testosterone – Growth Hormone

    • Urtica Dioica Extract (700mg / 1400mg daily)

More frequently known as “Stinging Nettle”, Urtica Dioica is a species of plant that contains lignans, a type of compound that interferes with Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG).[1] Sex Hormone Binding Globulin is a major regulator of free testosterone in the body. SHBG binds to testosterone and ultimately renders it incapable of interacting with the androgen receptors involved in muscle growth.

Stinging nettle inhibits SHBG, thereby preventing it from absorbing your precious testosterone. This indirectly boosts testosterone production and can lead to more muscle growth. Additionally, Stinging Nettle also functions as a 5a-reductase inhibitor, which prevents the conversion of testosterone to DHT.[2]

    • Mucuna Pruriens (150mg / 300mg daily)

      Performax Labs Tiger Fitness

Set yourself up for some EPIC gains with AlphaMax XT.

Mucuna pruriens is a bean most often utilized for its high content of L-Dopa, a precursor to dopamine. Frequently, individuals supplement mucuna pruriens for stress and cortisol reduction.[3,4]

Other research involving Mucuna pruriens demonstrates it may reduce prolactin levels in the body as well as significantly increase luteinizing hormone, sperm count, and motility.[5]

    • Eurycoma Longifolia (150mg / 300mg daily)

Eurycoma Longifolia, a.k.a. Longjack, is the first new ingredient added to AlphaMax XT. We’ve covered it in great detail in our Tongkat Ali write-up, which is yet another name the herb goes by.

Longjack is nothing new to the land of natural muscle-building supplements. It’s often used to increase male virility and sexual prowess. The big benefit of it though, is that it’s been shown to increase free testosterone levels, total testosterone levels, and force production![6]

Longjack also helps regulate estrogen expression[7,8] in the body and reduce cortisol levels.[9] Either of these two hormones get out of control and you can kiss your muscle building days goodbye.

      200:1 Standardization disclosed!

After we wrote this article, Performax contacted us with this extra info:

For the Eurycoma Longifolia, we’re looking at a 200:1 extract containing a minimum of 2% Eurycomanone which is the main compound and quassinoid we believe is responsible for its test-boosting properties.

  • Estrogen & Cortisol Control

    • Withania Somnifera (300mg / 600mg daily)

      Performax Labs Workout Stack

Maximize you gains in the gym by stacking CreMax XT and HyperMax XT to go along with AlphaMax XT. CreMax XT gets solid mention in our new muscle building supplements post!

Withania Somnifera is a member of the nightshade family that has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine. You probably known this ingredient by its more conventional moniker, Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a feel-good adaptogenic herb that helps individuals deal with anxiety. That’s not all though, this ancient medicine also can improve semen quality by increasing serum levels of Testosterone and Luteinizing Hormone (LH), while at the same time reducing levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH).[10]

Furthermore, ashwagandha also reduces cortisol levels in the body.[11] Cortisol is extremely catabolic and chronically elevated levels of it can suppress testosterone production and stunt muscle growth.

    • Abieta-8,11,13-trien-18-oic acid (50mg / 100mg daily)

Abieta-8,11,13-trien-18-oic acid, also known as Dehydroabietic Acid (DHAA), is a powerful aromatase inhibitor (AI) that can indirectly boost testosterone levels by limiting estrogen production in the body. We imagine this is the main ingredient that is replacing Arimistane, another potent AI.

AI’s bind to the aromatase enzyme in the body thereby preventing it from binding to its associated receptor site and subsequently converting testosterone to estrogen. The big takeaway here is that you’ll get a bit more testosterone in the body and markedly less estrogen, all good things for building muscle.

  • Lean Mass Activator-95

    • Coleus Forskohlii (25mg / 50mg daily)

      Coleus Forskohlii

The Coleus Forskohlii plant, which is also known as Plectranthus barbatus. It’s highly recommended that you buy well-standardized supplements, not raw or cheap coleus forskohlii

To help shed fat while increasing your lean mass, Performax includes 95% Forskolin, the bioactive component of the Coleus Forskohlii plant. Forskolin has been shown to increase cAMP levels, an important cell signaling molecule heavily involved in hormone regulation.[12,13,14]

Increased cAMP leads to a cascade of beneficial effects in the body including:

      • Increased anabolic activities[15,16]
      • Lean body mass gains[15,16]
      • Elevated testosterone levels[15,16]
      • Increased BMR[15,16]

While we normally see forskolin in fat burners, its ability to increase lean mass and boost testosterone is not lost on Performax. 25-50mg per day (with food) usually yields noticeable results on its own!

    • Ferula Asafoetida (15mg / 30mg daily)

Ferulic Acid, the main bioactive ingredient in Ferula Asafoetida,  is a relatively new ingredient in supplement world. Chances are, this will be your first experience with this particular ingredient.

Research shows that consuming as little as 30mg/day (the amount in one daily dose), yields significant improvements in strength, endurance, recovery, and muscle mass.[17,18]

If you were on the fence with AlphaMax XT at this point, this is the one that pushes it over the top. We’re always interested in trying new ingredients – especially when backed by some research. Very few supplements have this one.

  • Testosterone Support

    • Vitamin D3 (2,000 IU / 4,000IU daily)

      Vitamin D Metabolism

Too many people are deficient in Vitamin D, which can put a real damper on your Testosterone production.

Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin that is a key player in hormone production in the body. It’s also one of the biggest nutritional deficiencies in the population.[19] A cross-sectional study investigated any links between androgens and Vitamin D levels and found that higher levels of the vitamin correlated with higher levels of testosterone and lower SHBG.[20]

So, Vitamin D3 may not directly help stimulate T production, but it’ll go a long, LONG way to ensuring optimal hormone production and regulation in the body.

We love the idea of adding 4000IU to the mix. We normally suggest a supplementary 2000-5000IU, yet it’s wise not to go too far over 10,000IU.

Combined with your diet, multivitamin, and AlphaMax XT, you should really be set on this one. Especially if you live somewhere where winter never seems to end or the sun doesn’t come out enough…

    • Boron Citrate (5mg / 10mg daily)

Boron is essential mineral required by the body for optimal bone growth. Clinical trials involving boron found that supplementing with can can significantly decrease SHBG levels.[21] Less SHBG means more testosterone is available to help support muscle growth and burn fat.

Not enough natty test boosters included boron, so this is another unique ingredient.

Dosing

Performax recommends consuming 2 caps of AlphaMax XT twice daily. Doses should be consumed roughly 6-8 hours apart.

Due to the forskolin inside, we suggest taking each AlphaMax XT cap with food.

Performax Labs has been busy!

Performax Labs has been on it lately, rounding out and upgrading their product line with a fury. We’ve recently detailed their new carb-crushing nutrient partitioner, SlinMax. But even more exciting is their all-inclusive muscle builder that can double as a stim-free pre workout supplement, CreMax XT.

Performax Labs

Click the image to see all of Performax Labs’ potent products. They push the envelope with hot ingredients and high quality, which is why we like them.

Expect to hear more from these guys in 2016, they’re one of the growing brands on to something good. Because of that, they get multiple mentions in our latest big article on the next generation of muscle building supplements.

Takeaway

Not every guy is blessed with the genetics of Phil Heath or Ben Pakulski. For all the “regular” guys walking into gyms, it helps to have some help at increasing muscle mass and the body’s own production of testosterone.

AlphaMax XT contains everything you need to increase lean mass and limit the spread of estrogen in the body. This leads to a markedly anabolic environment setting the stage for some epic gains.

It’s a well-balanced, solid formulation that we have zero complaints about. There’s some new stuff in here for the experienced users, but it’s not over-the-top, so beginners/intermediate users can give it a shot too and will almost definitely love the new pep in their step.
