    Phosphatidic Acid (PA) is a phospholipid located in the cell membrane involved in various cell-signaling processing, including one that stimulates muscle growth. A recent study by O’Neill et al. documented that incubating isolated muscle cells with PA can induce an increase in mTOR signaling.[6]

    The same study also noted that PA-activated mTOR even occurred when cells had their IGF-1 signaling pathway (another pathway for stimulating mTOR) inhibited. This gives evidence that PA-mediated mTOR activation is independent of IGF-1 signaling.[6]

    In addition to stimulating muscle growth, PA also helps improve strength and size. Other research has shown that supplementing with 750mg / day of PA, in conjunction with resistance training, led to a 12.7% increase in squat strength and a 2.6 percent increase in muscle mass.[7] The placebo group though only saw modest strength increases, but no significant increase in muscle mass.

    There are a few ways to get phosphatidic acid in via the diet, but it’s tough to do at these legitimate doses. The best way to do it in a zero-calorie manner so that you don’t bomb your diet is with Mediator.
