MuscleTech Mission 1 – New Protein Bar!

The category is protein bars is becoming more and more competitive lately. We have the front runner in Oh Yeah! ONE Bars and Quest Bars. Recently, MusclePharm has entered the market with their Combat Crunch Bars this past year as well.

Not one to let the competition pass them by, MuscleTech is re-entering the protein bar fray with their all new Mission 1 bar.

MuscleTech jumps back into the protein bar market with the all new Mission 1 bar, a "clean" protein bar. What exactly is it? Find out below!

Now, you may be thinking, “wait a second! MuscleTech already has a protein bar!”

Yes, this is true as they do have the Protein Plus Bars, which have been popping up constantly on our popular Supplement Deals page. Maybe the announcement of the Mission 1 Bar signals the end of the Protein Plus bars… we’ll have to wait and see.

Mission 1 Bar Details

Unfortunately, we don’t have the exact label for the bars, but we have been able to glean several important details about the bars nutrition from pictures that MT has circulated. Namely:

  • 100% Protein Isolates
  • No Sugar Alcohols
  • Zero Artificial Colors or Flavors
  • 20-21g of protein (depending on flavor)
  • 17-20g of fiber (again, depending on flavor)
  • Gluten Free

With the high-fiber numbers, we have to bet that this is another product containing prebiotic fiber, such as isomaltooligosaccharides or chicory root extract.

Flavors Available

That bowl of oats should would look and taste a whole lot better if one of the new Mission 1 bars was crumbled on top for some texture!

Details are all fine and dandy, but more importantly, people like to know what flavors their protein bars come in. Fortunately, we’ve confirmed that at least three flavors will be available when the product debuts:

  • Cookies & Cream
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Chocolate Brownie

Texture matters

Another thing we plan on reviewing is the texture. This is where we’re loving Oh Yeah’s ONE Bars and getting a bit tired of several of the Quest Bars, which are a bit rougher around the edges and seem to have a more “stale” feeling lately.

In our opinions, Quest is in need of a few flavor and texture revamps, and companies like Oh Yeah and MuscleTech are clearly jumping on the opportunity to reclaim the throne.

Wrap Up

From the scant details available, Mission 1 looks to be a real player in the increasingly crowded, and competitive, protein bar market. It’s boasting some solid numbers in protein and fiber. We just need to see how much caloric damage these will pack as well as how good they taste.
