Last year was a big year for Arms Race Nutrition – they were named PricePlow’s Breakout Brand of the Year in our 2022 Supplement Industry Awards, and a big reason why was the release of their fabulous Foundation Bars, which are breakfast cereal style protein bars.
In a recent podcast with VP David Dodrill (#083), there were three major announcements:
- Two new Foundation Bar flavors
- The new Arms Race Harness Evolution label released
- An upcoming Harness RTD
Today, we get to talk about the new first of those three:
Fruity Cereal and Frosted Crunch Cereal ARN Foundation Bars!
The long-anticipated new Foundation Bar flavors are upon us: Fruity Cereal and Frosted Crunch Cereal! These flavors are the first two new varieties released after the original Chocolate Puff Cereal and the epic Cinnamon Crunch Cereal bars.
This article shows the labels, macros, and talks a bit about their protein sources. First, check to see if they’re available on PricePlow, and sign up for our Arms Race Nutrition news alerts so you don’t miss the other releases listed above:

Fruity Cereal and Frosted Crunch Cereal?
There are several kinds of fruity cereals out there, so what are these meant to emulate? Looking at a close-up of ARN’s Fruity Cereal labels, you can see that these are the “pebble” variety – flat, colored, fruity cereal crisps.
Meanwhile, Frosted Crunch Cereal was developed to emulate sugar-coated corn flakes. If that doesn’t tell you what you need to know, then just know that they’re grrreat!
Now let’s get to the macros:

Arms Race Nutrition Foundation Bar Ingredients
For a full analysis, see our original Foundation Bar article. But let’s look at where these macros come from:
-
The protein sources
Foundation Bars are unique because they use both whey protein crisps as well as pea protein crisps. There’s some added milk protein isolate and collagen peptides lower in the label as well, but the crisps are where the majority will be.
Most of our readers understand the importance of protein and the success of both whey protein and pea protein in studies — even studies where they’re pit against each other! (Hint: they both worked about the same with no statistically significant differences between them.)[1,2]
For full write-ups about these two protein sources, Arms Race has two separate products where we’ve done deeper dives: Arms Race Elevation (a pure whey protein isolate) and Arms Race Vegan (contains pea protein and rice protein). *Seems like we’ll need to write an article about Arms Race Foundation – a closer inspiration for these bars due to it being a protein blend – sometime soon!
-
The carbohydrate sources
The predominant carb source is the yogurt flavored coating itself, which kicks it off with sucrose (table sugar!) – so you know ARN’s here for a fun time right off the bat. Then there are added rainbow sprinkles or sweet crunch flavorettes depending on the flavor – these bring both sugar and corn syrup to the table, as well as corn cereal and rice flour or degermed corn grits and corn starch, respectively.
There’s also just a dash of sugar alcohol in here – it’s coming in the form of vegetable glycerine.
-
The fat sources
You’ve likely noticed that most of the fat is saturated fat, which will make many of you happy given that saturated fats are more stable and don’t go rancid nearly as much as polyunsaturated fats do. The main fat sources are palm kernel oil (in the yogurt flavored coating) alongside coconut oil lower on the label.
All ARN Foundation Bar Flavors Available
We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that the Frosted Crunch Cereal also mentions that the product contains bioengineered food ingredients — this must be from the sweet crunch flavorettes that are unique to that flavor, perhaps the degermed corn grits that are inside.
Conclusion: A long time coming, and we’re here for it
Foundation Bars have absolutely been crushing it – especially the Cinnamon Crunch Cereal. If you didn’t see it, we actually tasted all of these varieties — including the new ones — back in Spring of 2022 when we visited CORE Nutritionals’ Crush It HQ. See our VLOG titled We Tasted Everything.
Julian Smith and his team took extra time with these two new flavors, and we’re hoping it was well worth the wait. They were great before, so we’re expecting them to be phenomenal now. Additionally, this also gave them more time to do shelf stability testing, which is very important with protein bars these days.
The new Foundation Bars release in early March 2023 close to the launch of the new Harness Evolution. Check PricePlow to see:
