Unlike a majority of sports nutrition brands in the dietary supplement industry, Revive MD doesn’t sell pre-workouts, protein powders, amino acids, or fat burners. Instead, co-founders Matt Jansen and Dr. Domenic Iacovone made a conscious decision to create a brand that’s solely focused on addressing health and wellness issues. Revive MD’s product line includes supplements formulated to optimize joint, organ, hormone, and general health concerns.
Nearly every month, the company adds a new product (as shown on our Revive MD news page), and every so often they release one that targets a specific organ, such as Liver and Kidney. This time around, Revive MD is shifting their focus toward optimizing heart health with Revive MD Heart.
Introducing Revive MD Heart
Revive MD Heart is formulated to:
-
Promote healthy heart function
-
Encourage healthy cardiac muscular contractions
-
Help protect the heart and blood vessels from cellular stress
To achieve these benefits, Revive MD Heart uses:
- Efficacious doses of vitamins D3 and K
- Rejuna (Terminalia arjuna bark extract)
- Benolea (olive leaf extract)
- Curcumin C3 complex (curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin)
- Coenzyme Q10
- Apigenin
Although Revive MD Heart can be taken on its own, you can also stack it with some of the brand’s other cardiovascular support supplements, such as Blood Pressure, Bergamot, and Revive MD Lipid.
It’s important to note that Revive MD just recently became BSCG Certified Drug-Free, which means that every one of their supplements is third-party tested to ensure they’re free of banned substances. So if you’re an athlete who’s subjected to randomized drug testing, then you can rest assured that Revive MD’s products are safe to use.

Revive MD Heart Ingredient Analysis
For the best results, Revive MD suggests taking one serving of Revive MD Heart once daily, preferably, to achieve optimal absorption, with a meal containing fat. As always, talk to a qualified health care professional prior to taking any new supplement to ensure there are no contraindications with existing medications or supplements.
Here’s what one serving (three capsules) of Revive MD Heart contains:
-
Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol) – 50mcg (250% DV)
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be derived from foods, supplements, and sunlight. However, at least one-third of middle-aged and older Americans are considered vitamin D insufficient.[1] Moreover, some populations, such as the elderly, Blacks, and obese individuals, are at even greater risk of vitamin D insufficiency.[1]
Vitamin D deficiency may contribute to the development of several health conditions, including:
- Obesity
- Depression
- Hypertension
- Osteoporosis
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- Stroke[1,2]
Vitamin D is most known for its role in promoting bone health because it helps the body absorb calcium. Some evidence suggests that adequate intake of vitamin D may lower the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD).[1] However, vitamin D has the potential to prevent CVD through various mechanisms. It can inhibit inflammation, vascular smooth muscle proliferation, and vascular calcification, as well as regulate blood sugar metabolism, blood pressure and volume.[1] More research is needed to fully understand vitamin D’s potential for CVD prevention, but nonetheless, most people would benefit from supplementation.
-
Vitamin K (as Vitamin K2 Menaquinone-7) – 200mcg (167% DV)
Vitamin K is another fat-soluble vitamin that’s present in green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, fish, liver, meat, and eggs. Vitamin K mainly serves as a cofactor for post-translational γ-carboxylation of vitamin K-dependent proteins (VKDP).[3] An insufficient intake of vitamin K negatively affects VKDP’s functions throughout the body.[3] Some of the specific VKDPs that could be affected are proteins C, S, and Z, which contribute to normal blood coagulation.[3] Therefore, this vitamin plays an important role in overall cardiovascular health.
There are two types of vitamin K that are commonly found in supplements, vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. Revive MD specifically chose to use vitamin K2, as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), because of its higher bioavailability and longer half-life.[3] In other words, MK-7 is absorbed and utilized better and remains in the body longer. Moreover, supplementing with vitamin K2 is associated with inhibited arterial calcification and stiffening.[4]
Research shows that sufficient vitamin K2 intake lowers the risk of vascular damage because of its ability to activate matrix GLA protein (MGP), which prevents the buildup of calcium deposits on blood vessel walls.[4] Similar to vitamin D, vitamin K is also crucial for overall bone health. So you’re getting several potential health benefits from both ingredients.[3,4]
-
Rejuna (Terminalia Arjuna) 10:1 Extract (bark) – 750mg
The first trademarked ingredient in Revive MD Heart is Rejuna, a high-quality arjuna bark extract made by Verdure Sciences. Not only has Rejuna been shown to promote overall heart health, but it also possesses the following properties:[5]
- Anti-ischemic
- Antioxidant
- Hypolipidemic
- Antiatherogenic
- Cardioprotective
Arjuna, also known as Terminalia arjuna, is a tree that’s been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to treat various cardiovascular conditions, such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, chest pain, and dyslipidemia.[5] Research shows that arjuna extract is rich in several phytochemicals, including triterpenoids, β-sitosterol, flavonoids, and glycosides.[5] However, triterpenoids and flavonoids are mainly attributed to arjuna’s health benefits.[5]
A randomized controlled trial published in Indian Heart Journal found that when volunteers with pre-existing cardiomyopathies supplemented with 500 milligrams of Arjuna bark extract for eight weeks, in combination with standard medical therapy, the authors saw improved cardiac function compared to standard treatment alone.[6]
Another study from the International Journal of Ayurveda Research found that taking 500 milligrams of arjuna bark extract for eight weeks resulted in a significant improvement in participants’ VO2 max and decreased resting systolic blood pressure.[7] This suggests that not only can arjuna boost your health, but it may even increase performance as well!
-
Benolea Olive Extract (leaf) (std. to 16% oleuropein) – 500mg
Benolea, the second trademarked ingredient in Revive MD Heart, is an olive leaf extract, developed by Iff Health, that’s standardized to contain at least 16% oleuropein and 30% polyphenols.[8] Historically, olive leaf extract, also known as Olea europaea, has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, gout, fever, and rheumatism.[8]
Research shows that due to olive leaf extract’s rich concentration of oleuropein and polyphenols, it may have beneficial effects on blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.[8,9] Furthermore, olive leaf extract possesses potent antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, which may help defend the body against viruses, bacteria, and oxidative stress.[8,9]
There are several generic olive leaf extracts on the market, but Revive MD choseBenolea because of its high purity and stability — a result of the extraction process that Iff Health uses, called EFLA HyperPure.[8] Based on the literature, Iff Health recommends taking anywhere between 500 milligrams to 1000 milligrams per day, so Revive MD Heart has you covered with one serving!
-
Curcumin C3 Complex (min 95% Curcuminoids Turmeric Rhizome Extract) (containing Curcumin, Demethoxycurcumin & Bisdemethoxycurcumin) – 400mg
The third and final trademarked ingredient in Revive MD Heart is Curcumin C3 Complex from Sabinsa. Curcumin C3 Complex is an extract derived from turmeric roots (Curcuma longa), also known as rhizomes.[10,11] As its name suggests, Curcumin C3 Complex is a mixture of three curcuminoids:
- Curcumin
- Demethoxycurcumin
- Bisdemethoxycurcumin
Since curcumin has poor bioavailability on its own, meaning that the body has a hard time absorbing and utilizing the chemical, Sabinsa incorporated two additional curcuminoids to stabilize the curcumin.[10] In other words, your body will be better equipped to readily absorb the curcumin in the small intestine and reap its benefits.
This is just one reason why Curcumin C3 Complex is superior to other forms of curcumin.[10] Some evidence suggests that combining curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin may more effectively combat oxidative stress than curcumin alone.[10,11]
Multiple studies have shown that curcuminoids may have the following health benefits:
- Supports healthy cholesterol and blood glucose levels
- Anti-inflammatory
- Increases immune function
- Antioxidant
- Inhibits platelet aggregation
- Hepatoprotective
- Neuroprotective
- Antiviral
- Anticancer[10-12]
Despite curcumin’s numerous benefits, Revive MD opted to include Curcumin C3 Complex in Revive MD Heart primarily because it may reduce the risk of blood clots, defend cells from oxidative stress, and support healthy cholesterol levels, all of which are crucial to proper cardiovascular function.[10-12]
-
Coenzyme Q10 – 200mg
Coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10 or ubiquinone, is a naturally occurring compound that’s highly concentrated in human mitochondria. Coenzyme Q10 takes on several roles in the body, but it’s mainly responsible for assisting in the electron transport chain, which produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP) — the energy currency of the cell.[13] Since nearly every physiological process requires ATP, CoQ10 is often considered an essential nutrient for the health of all organs and tissues.[13]
Moreover, CoQ10 is one of the most powerful lipid antioxidants in the body.[13] Therefore, it can help prevent the synthesis of free radicals and alteration of DNA, proteins, and lipids. Free radicals, also known as highly reactive oxygen species (ROS), induce oxidative stress upon healthy cells. Several chronic diseases are associated with high levels of free radicals and decreased levels of CoQ10.[13] The implication is that having adequate levels of CoQ10 is paramount for optimal health.[13]
Research suggests that supplementing with CoQ10 may improve energy, boost the immune system, and act as an antioxidant.[13] Coenzyme Q10 can be taken on its own or used in combination with other supplements to help treat or prevent the following health conditions:
- Cardiovascular disease
- High blood pressure
- Cancer
- Periodontal disease
- Mitochondrial disorders
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Parkinson’s disease
- Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)
- Gastric ulcers
- Kidney failure[13]
As you can see, CoQ10 has numerous potential health benefits, but it may also significantly increase your performance by efficiently increasing ATP production.[13] Several foods are rich in CoQ10, such as fatty fish (salmon), organ meats, and some whole grains.[13] However, if you’re not eating these types of foods on a consistent basis, then you’ll likely benefit from taking a CoQ10 supplement. It’s important to note that this nutrient is fat-soluble, so for optimal absorption, it’s recommended to consume CoQ10 alongside a meal that contains healthy fat.[13]
-
Apigenin – 50mg
Apigenin is a flavonoid that’s naturally found in a variety of plants, such as vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Research shows that flavonoids possess numerous beneficial effects, including:
- Free-radical scavenging
- Antioxidant
- Anti-mutagenic (compounds that induce genetic mutation)
- Antiviral
- Anti-inflammatory
- Anticancer[14]
Furthermore, flavonoids are capable of reducing plasma levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), preventing platelet aggregation, and decreasing cell proliferation.[14] There is a multitude of flavonoids that exist, but apigenin is one of the most studied. It seems to express its health benefits through several mechanisms of action, including cell cycle arrest, apoptosis (programmed cell death), anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant functions.[14]
A few different human clinical trials have found that supplementing with apigenin may improve cognitive performance, increase sleep quality and daytime functioning, and help decrease pain associated with osteoarthritis, blood pressure, body weight, symptoms correlated with anxiety/depression.[14] Most notably, apigenin has demonstrated cardioprotective effects,[14] which is likely a major reason why Revive MD chose to use it in Revive MD Heart.
