NutraBio EAA Energy (Now Discontinued)

2022 Discontinuation Update: This product has been discontinued and will be replaced with Amino Kick. We’re leaving the article up because of the lovely videos inside.

NutraBio is known for making fully-dosed and transparent products. Now they’ve partnered with Bodybuilding.com in a collaboration for their latest product, and it’s bringing two things we love: full-spectrum EAAs and Energy!

This exclusive product is the aptly-named EAA Energy.

NutraBio EAA Energy

NutraBio’s long-awaited take on the “Energy Amino” category is here, and it’s exactly what you’d expect from the uncompromising brand: massive. Pictured: Mike’s 5-serving tester tub.

Launched in a partnership with Bodybuilding.com at the 2018 Mr. Olympia (see the NutraBio Mr. Olympia launch event), this product puts a NutraBio spin on a growing category, and by “NutraBio spin” we mean that EAA Energy’s label is decked out on top of the fully-disclosed formula from top to bottom.

Meanwhile, it comes with a flavor that’s completely new to NutraBio (cherry limeade as you can see in the image to the right), so members of #NutraBioNation have yet another new thing to get excited about!

NutraBio EAA Energy Ingredients

This one’s a behemoth, especially compared to the competition. With 8.2g EAAs and 6g of those from BCAAs, you get more of the “non-BCAA essentials” than nearly any other product!

Meanwhile, there’s a total of 10g amino acids, so we have 1.8g of other beneficial aminos coming from two other ingredients.

The caffeine comes from two sources, and it’s all amplified by one last ingredient. Let’s dig in:

  • EAA/BCAA Blend 8.2g:

EAA Energy starts with a 8.2g EAA and BCAA Blend. The beauty of combining both EAA and BCAA is giving the consumer a full spectrum of amino acids needed for proper protein synthesis and repair. EAAs are called “essential” amino acids because the body cannot synthesize them on its own, so they need to be ingested via proper diet or supplementation.[1]

With life as busy as it is, most times we aren’t eating a diet that’s diverse enough, and may miss out on getting adequate protein intake and enough EAA-rich foods. EAAs are crucial for stimulating MPS (Muscle Protein Synthesis) and support cellular repair. The other benefits associated with EAA’s involve digestion, enhance performance, speeds recovery, combats hunger, nutrient absorption, and they protect the cell’s mitochondria.

    NutraBio EAA Energy Ingredients

The ingredient label has been released, and there’s over two grams of non-BCAA essential amino acids on top of the 6g BCAA… 150mg caffeine… and more!!

    Here’s the full label inside:

    • BCAAs – 2:1:1 Ratio (6g)

      • L-Leucine 3g
      • L-Isoleucine 1.5g
      • L-Valine 1.5g
    • L-Lysine HCl (850mg)

    • L-Threonine (850mg)

    • DL-Phenylalanine (300mg)

    • L-Histidine HCl (100mg)

    • L-Tryptophan (75mg)

    • DL-Methionine (25mg)

The exciting take here is the huge amount of lysine, which is a ketogenic amino acid alongside leucine (also well-dosed), and the fact that we have far more non-BCAA essentials in this formula than we see in much of the competition.

  • Taurine (1.2g)

Taurine is an amino acid that promotes healthy electrolyte balance, insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular health, hearing function, and immune modulation. Although we can produce Taurine in our own body we still need to supplement to reach an adequate amount. Nutrabio gives us a large amount of taurine at 1.2g, which will provide a strong dose to reap the aforementioned benefits of the amino acid.[2,3,4]

    Taurine

Taurine, long used for a ‘filler’ amino acid, turns out to be legit for endurance… and after a single use!

A recent meta-analysis shows that taurine works acutely for endurance benefits (it can improve endurance and hydration on the first use),[5] and this is a touch higher than the dose that showed those results!

  • L-Alanine (600mg)

L-Alanine is a nonessential amino acid that fights fatigue and stress imposed on the body. This was put into EAA Energy to give the body an extra push during training, or used as an everyday supplement for recovery. L-Alanine is a useful ingredient to lower blood sugar, assist protein building, and help supply energy to the body during periods of oxidative damage (cardiovascular activity).[6,7] Regulating blood sugar, supporting muscle development, and improving our immune system are all perks that can help a trainee perform at an optimal level in the gym.

  • CocoPure Coconut Water Powder: (500mg)

Coconut Water Powder is the perfect addition to EAA Energy for restoring hydration and replenishing electrolytes during exercise.[8] Electrolytes are minerals that play several important roles in the body, including maintaining proper fluid balance. During exercise, we lose amino acids and electrolytes and need to put them back.

Adding coconut water powder to EAA Energy lets us put back what we lose during training. Coconut water powder also provides benefits towards digestion and energy.

But there’s a story behind this CocoPure. When NutraBio was looking for coconut water powder, they found it very difficult to find what they wanted. There was a lot of sugary stuff out there. Finally, they made it happen with CocoPure, a more highly-refined source of coconut water.

    NutraBio EAA Energy Benefits

    Hydrate. Recover. Energize.

  • Infinergy (100mg Di-Caffeine Malate yielding 75mg Caffeine)

Infinergy is a combination of caffeine and malic acid put together to form di-caffeine malate. The duo is broken down into a 75% caffeine and 25% malic acid ratio by molecular weight. Due to the makeup of the ingredient, absorption is slowed down (as is the “energy curve”), digestion is easier on the body, and the longer release helps minimize the caffeine crash.

    Infinergy

Part 1 of the stim blend. Infinergy helps prolong the initial stim kick from caffeine anhydrous and citrate giving you longer-lasting energy without any nasty crash.

Due to this sustained energy release, it prevents less crashes then caffeine anhydrous. The mild form of caffeine helps to nullify the jitters one can experience from caffeine in stimulated supplements. The key benefits include reducing sedation by increasing adenosine, reducing fatigue, improving concentration, and boosting physical performance.

We like to see it paired with other forms of caffeine, which is exactly what we have here!

  • PurCaf Organic Caffeine (79mg Green Coffee Bean Extract, yielding 75mg caffeine)

PurCaf is a water-soluble organic caffeine source for natural energy drinks.[10] This organic ingredient is extracted from green coffee beans and is 100% free of synthetically-created chemicals. Nutrabio is known for making clean formulas and this is a major reason why it is included as a secondary stimulant to di-caffeine malate.

    Organic caffeine?

Part 2 of the stim blend. PurCaf markets itself as superior, plus you can consider the bonus constituents like chlorogenic acid you’ll get from this natural source!

In comparison to synthetic caffeine anhydrous, the purity of the ingredient will provide similar energy and performance while only needing a slightly larger dose (since PurCaf is 95% caffeine by weight). PurCaf allegedly reduces stress on your adrenal glands preventing the body from burning out your central nervous system. Some attribute this to the chlorogenic acids provided in the other 5% part of the product.[11]

  • AstraGin (50mg)

AstraGin is a plant-based compound to increase the absorption of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in intestinal cells. AstraGin increases the quality of nutrients, amino acids, and compounds to enhance training performance and recovery.

    NutraBio Born and Bred

NutraBio’s Born and Bred campaign was a teaser into what’s happening along with the EAA Energy launch. Sign up for alerts at our NutraBio page to stay connected!

Studies have shown AstraGin to repair the health of intestinal walls, and improve ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) by 18%, increase insulin sensitivity by 38%, and glucose absorption by 57%.[12]

Flavors

EAA Energy rolled out in three different flavors but the completed list is below:

Of these, cherry limeade was the newcomer to the NutraBio scene at the time of launch. Since it’s quite good, we wonder if they’ll be putting it in some of their other formulas…. (the answer is yes!)

Amino Energy done the NutraBio way

    NutraBio EAA Energy Unveil

After weeks of anticipation, the unveiling has come!

As you can see from this label — which is both monstrously dosed and completely open formula — this is a phenomenal NutraBio spin on a growing segment.

The new cherry limeade system is fantastic and does a great job of covering up such large doses of essential amino acids (which don’t always taste the best), and the slow and smooth natural energy blend is perfect for the purpose of an amino energy product.

Meanwhile, if you don’t need the stimulants, you can look into NutraBio EAA Pure, or Intra Blast (also with a naturally-sweetened Intra Blast Natural option) — all of which are monstrously dosed, but Intra Blast is even more intense when it comes to the “extra” intra workout ingredients, whereas the EAA supplements stick mainly to the essentials and conditionally-essentials.

NutraBio’s slowly rebranding, and the hard work is paying off – especially for those who work hard

From the “Born and Bred” campaign to the NutraBio Nation group on Facebook to the new BioCrew training squad and of course the new formulas and flavor systems, we’re all in on what Team NutraBio has been up to!
