When NutraBio launched UpSorb, they introduced an interesting new class of supplement to the market. Here was a supplement that’s not really meant to be taken alone, but instead as an “amplification” and “enhancement” for other supplements, as it improves the body’s absorption and uptake of various ingredients.
To put it another way, UpSorb is a supplement for supplements.
New product category; new education… and new partnerships
Such a unique product brings a completely different way of positioning and educating consumers. With that, NutraBio brought a very unique way of promoting the product: with arms open wide to the “competition”.
Here we have a supplement that will increase the absorption of several ingredients (covered below). But are Mark Glazier and Team NutraBio only saying to stack this with their supplements? No!
The UpSorb Starter Kit for Retailers
Instead of building barriers, NutraBio is open to “teamwork” on this project, and nothing makes that more clear than what they’re sending to retailers – an all-new UpSorb Starter Kit, which includes a “counter-topper” and plenty of training. This works because UpSorb works with a ton of supplements, NutraBio or otherwise!
We dig into the details, but first, you can read our NutraBio UpSorb article, watch the explanation video, check prices below, and sign up for notifications using PricePlow:

What’s UpSorb in a nutshell?
Made from NuLivScience’s AstraGin (a patented combination of Astragalus and Panax Notoginseng) and Sabinsa Corporation’s BioPerine (black pepper extract standardized for bioactive piperine), UpSorb brings the industry’s two “absorption amplifying” ingredients together in one convenient, small capsule, to be taken twice per day with other supplements.
It has benefits that cover every reason as to why someone takes supplements in the first place — from improving body composition and performance to health and longevity.
What’s in the UpSorb Starter Kit?
NutraBio is sending a “starter kit” to retailers showing everything pictured up above in this article:
- A “Counter-Topper” box of 9 bottles of UpSorb
- UpSorb Brochures and Pamphlets
- Shelf Cards to put next to appropriate categories
- The latest NutraBio Mini-Catalog
- T-Shirt and Hat
This enables consumers to get more out of their supplements, retailers to get an effective add-on sale, and NutraBio to get new customers interested in their way of doing things.
But it comes down to education – when to mention UpSorb:
Where does UpSorb make most sense?
Many of the most commonly-bought products on the shelves can use a bit of UpSorbing:
- Increase Amino Acid absorption up to 67%
- Increase Creatine absorption up to 33%
- Increase Curcumin absorption up to 2000%
- Increase Fish Oil absorption up to 100%
- Increase Resveratrol absorption up to 229%
- Increase CoQ10 absorption up to 30%, and…
- …Increase CBD absorption?! That’s the next frontier…
But if you look at NuLivScience’s website for AstraGin, they mention even more, such as protein, probiotics, folate, and glucosamine!
Meanwhile, Sabinsa Corporation’s website sports research where BioPerine improved ß-Carotene, Iron, Selenium, and Vitamin B6 absorption, on top of the well-known curcumin and resveratrol improvements shown above.
More opportunity for everyone
This presents a huge opportunity for customers to get more out of their purchases, and for retail partners to help make that happen.
As an example, when a customer brings a fish oil bottle to the counter, it gives a chance to talk about better absorption – up to 100% better in this case! – because as we know, we need as much help with those omega-3s as we can in this omega-6 laden trap of a society!
It works with “competitor” supplements!
While it’s true that UpSorb will work great with NutraBio’s Intra Blast intra workout / amino acid supplement, but that doesn’t mean the benefits are exclusive to their products. Maybe a customer’s dead-set on buying Myprotein’s The Amino Energy, a type of ‘energy amino’ product NutraBio doesn’t currently have in retailers. Why not work together?
Fact is, there are fish oil supplements that have more EPA and DHA per softgel than NutraBio’s. Revive MD’s Omega-3 comes to mind (albeit at about 12x the price). There are benefits to taking the NutraBio route and getting more omega-3s in general, but some people want to chase more DHA. Even if you go the “competing” route, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t UpSorb it!
To top it off, pairing this with any multivitamin/multimineral is nearly a no-brainer!
Credit where credit is due
Too often, brands get caught in the trap of only promoting their stack. It makes sense, especially when it comes to the Pre/Intra/Post workout products. After all, why send business elsewhere?
However, Mark Glazier has always seen things a bit differently, complimenting other brands who do it right. For instance, he’s always been supportive of the way Kaged Muscle and Ghost disclose their protein formulas, and when brands pay to get Informed-Sport testing on their products.
So while NutraBio might not get every DHA sale, it’s not stopping them for amplifying whatever the customer ended up buying. UpSorb works with everyone!
UpSorb (nearly) Everything
Long story short, this is the kind of open innovation we love seeing. Retailers interested in putting an UpSorb Counter-Topper near their checkout and getting some additional training should contact their local NutraBio reps or get a hold of us and we’ll put you in touch with the right individuals.
Everyone else should check out our UpSorb post, and stay tuned to more news from both NutraBio and NuLivScience, as more AstraGin research seems to be coming out every month… and there’s always something going on from Mark Glazier and crew.
