Prevail – delivering both energy and focus

The Prevail Pre Workout Ingredients

This formula is concerned with two key components of any good workout – keeping energy levels high and keeping you zoned in to the task at hand. Let’s cover the ingredients in each spectrum. Here’s what Cutler is packing in each full 2-scoop serving (which has 362.5mg caffeine if two-scooping it):

    Prepare to PREVAIL! Jay Cutler’s pre workout gets you dialed in, but it didn’t disregard the pumps eiither!

    Citrulline is an amino acid that plays an integral role in promoting vasodilation. In addition to enhancing nitric oxide production,[1] citrulline has also shown an ability to increase time to exhaustion and relieve muscle soreness.[2] In a somewhat indirect way, this stuff keeps you from getting burnt out too quickly during your session!

    Oh yeah, it also happens to be one of the top pump-inducing ingredients in the game. We’ll get into that later though!

  • Taurine – 2000mg

    Another amino acid, taurine stores itself throughout the body, and is heavily concentrated within the eyes, heart, and muscles.[3] It helps facilitate numerous bodily functions, but finds itself on this label for reasons similar to citrulline.

    Research has shown that taurine helps improve performance by decreasing onset fatigue,[4] while also decreasing muscle soreness.[5] Again, by not feeling as tired, and with your muscles feeling less beat up, you can maintain intense training levels longer!

  • The energizers

    • Caffeine Anhydrous – 250mg

      What would a stimulant-based pre-workout be without caffeine? There’s a reason why Jay wanted it on this label – simply put, it works!

      Caffeine anhydrous is a fast-acting form of caffeine, as it quickly delivers the energy-boosting,[6] performance-enhancing effects stimulants are touted for.[7] The 250mg here is definitely enough to get you moving, however, its impact doesn’t last as long as some may like. But don’t worry, Jay and his team called in some backup!

    • Dicaffeine Malate (Yielding 75% Caffeine) – 150mg

      Dicaffeine malate helps counteract the dreaded “crash” some might get after consuming caffeine anhydrous. While the latter wears off quickly, the former is actually longer-lasting. Due to its bonding to malic acid, dicaffeine malate has a much slower time to absorption.

      With anhydrous getting things started, dicaffeine malate is tagged in once the initial kick starts to wear off. At the end of the day, you’re getting a full-spectrum, long-lasting boost in energy!!

    • Theobromine 99% – 60mg

      Theobromine is commonly found within the cacao plant, often alongside its stimulant cousin, caffeine. However, while caffeine works its wonders within the brain, this one stimulates a different area within the body.

      Research has shown that theobromine increases heart rate in a dose-dependent manner.[8] While this might not initially sound all that encouraging, take a step back and think about it for a second. A slightly raised heart rate can help activate the fight-or-flight response, a state that calls for a bunch of adrenaline-boosting, euphoric neurotransmitters. These can further enhance stimulation, and make you more active and energetic.[9]

    • Cocoa Seed Extract (std. 20% N-Coumaroyldopamine) – 20mg

      Also coming from the cacao plant, coumaroyldopamine is a beta2-adrenoceptor agonist, which roughly explains its ability to increase cAMP levels and promote muscle synthesis.[10] That can help improve recovery, which can keep you training at high levels!

  • The stuff that gets you dialed in

    • N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine – 750mg

      Tyrosine is another amino acid, but differs from the others we’ve talked about thus far. It acts as a nootropic, helping your brain make several compounds such as dopamine and adrenaline,[11] which improve mental performance.

    • Alpha-GPC 50% – 750mg

      Alpha-GPC is a highly bioavailable form of choline, and helps the brain produces acetylcholine, a chemical crucial for brain performance. We love alpha-GPC, not only for its brain-boosting effects, but its power-enhancing potential,[12] as well!
