NutraBio Goes Grape! Grape Berry Crush Supplement Flavors Expand

The next great flavor system is here from NutraBio, and it’s Grape! Grape Berry Crush to be exact!

Just two months after the initial Strawberry Lemon Bomb flavor was released (in the glorious Alpha EAA supplement, followed by several others), NutraBio has done it again:

In Spring of 2019, NutraBio launched their main three workout supplements (pre / intra / post) in a new flavor, Grape Berry Crush, and it’s only gotten better since then:

This is an extremely sweet, candy grape style flavor system, with a dash of “berry” zing on the end. It follows the recent flavor releases of the wild Dragon Fruit Candy and the go-to Strawberry Lemon Bomb as linked above.

This one is truly for the oft-neglected class of grape-loving consumers. You can watch Mike’s launch day tasting review of it below:

But… is that pomegranate?!

Excellent flavor — but is there something else helping with that berry flavor on the back end? Regardless, we love it!

Just like with Strawberry Lemon Bomb, where the lemon / lemonade portion is used alongside the citric + malic acids to cover up the fermented aminos, it seems like that’s what the berry part is doing here.

But — we think there might be something else going on here. Our take: it’s a dash of pomegranate helping out with the berry tones. NutraBio always tosses in just a dash of something extra in there, and a sliver of pomegranate flavor is our current bet. Regardless of what it is, it’s really good.

Grape supplement fans: The underserved customers?

It’s wild to think that a company as big as this one didn’t have a grape in their most popular line of supplements — although NutraBio BCAA 5000 has an excellent and very popular Grape flavor. That all finally changed, which should satisfy many of the old-school users who’ve felt neglected over time!

NutraBio PRE is now in several flavors, but this is Mike’s current favorite one. Intra Blast and Reload, however, still go to two other recent flavors!

Taking a trip down memory lane, when the supplement industry was in its infancy, there were typically three most common flavors: fruit punch, orange, and grape. Blue raspberry often came next.

Along the way over the past decade, something has happened — grape products kind of disappeared! There are of course several of them out there, but they’re just not as prevalent as they once were. Those who love that grape candy flavor just aren’t served as much as they were in the past.

NutraBio CEO Mark Glazier isn’t one to leave anyone behind, so he set out to fix that. And teaming up with Michael Perez, the brand’s flavorist, they decided to do it their way — with some sweet and some kick.

So you get the sweet candy grape part, but then you get the “berry” part to mask any of the stimulants (in PRE) or the fermented aminos (in Intra Blast and Reload). But again, we also think that back-end berry part has some notes of pomegranate too.

No doubt, these are sweet flavors. If you need a bit more citrus kick, cherry limeade could be your option!
