Controlled Labs White Rapids Review

Controlled Labs White Rapids Tower

Controlled Labs White Rapids is the replacement to White Flood Reborn. We put it to the test and see if it can surpass WFR…

Controlled Labs was generous enough to hook me up with not one but THREE tubs of their new pre workout, White Rapids. Now, White Flood Reborn was the first true pre workout I ever used, and over the years of trying numerous other pre workouts, it’s always remained my go to when I wanted to really get after it in the weight room.

Would Controlled Labs be able to surpass the greatness of White Rapids and actually replace my beloved White Flood Reborn and potentially land in PricePlow’s Top 10 Pre Workouts?

Robert’s White Rapids Review

Editor’s Note: This is Robert’s White Rapids review. Mike’s thoughts are at the bottom, but he didn’t get to try it

  • Profile: 9.5/10

    Controlled Labs White Rapids Ingredients

White Rapids offers a much improved profile over White Flood Reborn and contains everything you’d want in a pre workout.

As you can tell from the ingredient panel, White Rapids, when used at 2 scoops (which this is intended for) contains clinically effective doses of just about every performance enhancer and pump aid you could want for in a pre workout. Controlled Labs didn’t sprinkle in 36 different ingredients under a prop blend. White Rapids covers all the bases of what I’m looking for in a pre workout, energy, focus, and stamina.

  • Energy: 9.5/10

White Rapids uses a two pronged attack for its energy component. For the initial surge of energy, you get 150mg of caffeine anhydrous. This gives you the get up and go feeling needed on those days when you don’t feel like going work out.

It also contains 150mg of Dicaffeine Malate which helps smooth out the energy kick from the anhydrous and provides a nice sustained release of energy throughout the workout and the ensuing hours.

I typically use medium to high stim pre workouts, so with this coming it right around 200mg of caffeine was the perfect amount for me!

At 2 scoops the energy was quick and subtle to get going initially (not harsh like I’ve experienced with other pre’s), but stayed smooth and consistent throughout my hour long workouts. This is a trend I found with White Flood Reborn as well. The energy buildup that occurs that White Rapids gets into your system doesn’t bottom out a few hours after either. There’s a gentle ride down from the caffeine surge and no annoying crash.

  • Pumps: 9.5/10

    White Rapids Review Pumps

White Rapids made it incredibly easy to get a pump during a workout and have it last for several hours after! A big improvement over WFR.

This is where White Rapids really steps it up in comparison to White Flood Reborn. It combines clinical doses of citrulline malate, agmatine, and HydroMax Glycerol. This triple headed pump inducer yields a fantastic pump that not many other pre workouts can offer.

I typically do higher volume, hypertrophy type workouts so getting a pump isn’t that hard, or generally something I look for much in a pre workout. That being said, White Rapids made it incredibly easy to create and hold a pump. Vascularity was very pronounced, and I even noticed additional veins pop out that I hadn’t previously seen before.

The increased vascularity also lasted several hours after the workout whether it was chest and back day or shoulders and arms day. Leg day was manageable too even when using higher reps on front squats and bulgarian split squats.

Basically, you can feel the muscles wanting to burst through with each ensuing rep, but you just keep grinding away. Pumps is perhaps one of the biggest improvements in White Rapids over White Flood Reborn.

  • Focus: 10/10

    White Rapids Tunnel Vision

Focus was always a strong suit of WFR, with White Rapids you’ll experience tunnel vision rarely seen in other pre workouts.

Another thing that Controlled Labs accomplishes with their workouts is bringing about a superb-level of focus which could only be described as “tunnel vision.” Once 15-20 minutes had passed after downing two scoops, I entered into a state of “hyper-focus” where nothing could distract me.

It’s you and the weights, nothing else exists. Combined with the energy and pump components, White Rapids is a trifecta of glory that can’t be beat. That’s not enough for CL though, the focus lasts at least 2-3 hours after my hour long workouts. This was one of my favorite aspects of WFR and I’m happy to say that White Rapids maintains and possibly surpasses the level and amount of focus that WFR possessed.

  • Staying Power: 10/10

My workouts are typically 50-60 minutes long and contain 24 sets most days, and sometimes I’ll add in some extra dropsets if I’m feeling really good. White Rapids gives a solid boost to endurance with the inclusion of Citrulline and Betaine (also known as Trimethylglycine or TMG). It provided a great boost to my stamina and helped offset any possibility of fatiguing early in my workouts, especially when going heavy on leg day. I was able to go harder during my workouts and take less time to recover between sets which made the whole workout seem to fly by.

  • Mixability: 10/10

    White Rapids Review Mixed

Even using glycerol, White Rapids mixes extremely well and doesn’t leave any residue on the sides or bottom of the shaker!

Zero issues with mixability as you can see in the photo on the side. This was actually very surprising due to the inclusion of Glycerol. Several other pre workouts that have glycerol in it (Megatron, P.P.K. Max Out) all left residue on the sides of my shaker, but there was none here whatsoever. True to form CL delivers on perfect mixability.

  • Taste: 9/10

As mentioned above, Controlled Labs sent me a tub of each flavor that White Rapids comes in. I chose to go with the Electric Lemonade flavor as that was the flavor I always used with White Flood Reborn and figured it would serve as a good comparison.

Flavor wise, Electric Lemonade is absolutely spot-on with its taste! Mixing 2 scoops in 8 oz of water provides the perfect sweet-sour tartness that I had come to associate with WFR. If you’re not a fan of strongly flavored pre workouts, you will want to use 16-20 oz of water, but I love a strong tasting pre and couldn’t be more pleased.

  • Overall Value

White Rapids is a truly amazing ‘all in one’ pre workout that covers every single thing I’m looking for in regards to energy, focus, and stamina. This is a rather all-inclusive product, that hits all the high notes and doesn’t leave the user wanting for anything.

It smells fantastic, tastes like the nectar of the Olympian gods, mixes seemlessly and performs as only most other pre workouts could dream. I didn’t think it was possible, but White Rapids easily replaces WFR as my favorite, and go-to, pre workout. If you’re in the market for a new pre workout or looking for a replacement for WFR, this is it.

    White Rapids Review Powder

White Rapids is a finely milled powder that conveys a strong lemony aroma each time the tub is opened.

White Rapids is already offered at a fair price point. Even then, Controlled Labs does promotions and buy one, get one sales rather frequently which makes it an incredibly irresistible deal.

Consider White Rapids PricePlow approved and once we revamp the Top 10 Pre Workouts, expect to see it land a spot on the list!

Mike’s thoughts

I wasn’t sent any tubs and didn’t buy any, so I can’t participate in this review. Robert’s been raving about it, and I trust his judgment!!

I will say that the mixture of caffeine and dicaffeine malate has been working extremely well for me though (in other products), so this doesn’t surprise me. I think this is currently the best method of getting “extended release” caffeine, which many companies and raw materials suppliers have been trying to move on.

My only “disagreement” with Robert is how you can get a “10” on focus from two scoops with 300mg caffeine + 100mg Alpha GPC + 100mcg Huperzine. I think there’s been more impressively dosed focus ingredient blends than that, so I would caution the reader on that “10” score.

What I love about Controlled Labs products are how frequently they land in our Deals page and BOGO pages – you can almost find great value in them. So stay signed up and eventually we’ll probably find something sick for you.
