On 11/11/2019, Glaxon was born, innovative new formulas based on unique ingredients chosen for maximum bioavailability and effectiveness. Since that launch, this team of radical mad scientists and all-around cool guys has developed a true cult following in an industry that had been stagnating from a scientific standpoint. With their underground guerrilla marketing aesthetic and ultra-rigorous, hardcore scientific formulations, Glaxon is helping to make the supplement industry hip and fashionable in new ways.
Team Red or Team Blue? Glaxon Goon Energy Gives More Energy Choices

Goon Energy Ingredients
In a single 5-gram scoop of Glaxon Goon Energy, you’ll find the following ingredients:
-
Choline (Choline-L + Bitartrate) as VitaCholine – 137.5 mg
Although it can be synthesized by your liver, choline is considered an essential nutrient because the liver can’t synthesize enough to cover the amount your body requires. You have to get some choline from diet or supplementation.
Choline’s primary function is to maintain the structural integrity of cellular membranes.[1] In the central nervous system (CNS), it acts as the precursor to acetylcholine, also known as “the learning neurotransmitter” because of its central role in the process of learning and memory consolidation.[2] When acetylcholine levels go up, that improves a broad swath of cognitive skills, ranging from learning and memory to balance and coordination.[3,4] The effect of acetylcholine on motor skills is particularly useful for gamers.
Choline deficiency is bad. It can cause cognitive dysfunction and damage to organs and muscle tissue, including non-alcoholic fatty liver dDisease, a disorder that’s associated with diabetes and dyslipidemia.[5]
VitaCholine is a form of choline that’s 100% choline-L, the most bioavailable form of the nutrient. If you want to read more about why VitaCholine is particularly effective, or about choline’s benefits in general, check out our article about Glaxon’s choline blend named CholinACE. Although we aren’t using that blend here, there’s a good bit discussed about VitaCholine in the article.
-
L-Tyrosine – 250 mg
Tyrosine is an amino acid that significantly affects many of the body’s metabolic systems, but for the purposes of a gamer-focused nootropic supplement, we should talk about tyrosine’s effects on focus and energy. Since tyrosine is a precursor for neurotransmitters, such as noradrenaline and dopamine, supplementing with tyrosine should cause a noticeable uptick in focus and alertness.[6] Tyrosine activates the sympathetic nervous system with these neurotransmitters, thus initiating the famous “fight or flight” response.
If you’re pulling long nights trying to rank up in your favorite game’s matchmaking system, take note: tyrosine supplementation has been shown to improve cognitive function in sleep-deprived people.[7,8]
-
Inositol – 125 mg
Inositol is a unique carbohydrate that primarily supports neurotransmitter activity in the brain, and much like choline, it helps maintain the structural integrity of cellular membranes.[9,10] Inositol deficiency can produce various kinds of cognitive dysfunction,[11] but supplementing with extra inositol can upregulate both dopamine and serotonin.[10] For gamers, or anyone who’s performing demanding cognitive tasks, optimal neurotransmitter function is crucial.
-
Silk Fibroin Peptide (as Brain Factor-7) – 100 mg
Here’s where we start to “Glaxonify” Goon Energy, with one of two very unique ingredients:
If you look at a strand of raw silk under a microscope, you’ll see a filament that’s constructed in radial layers, very much like the cables used in the construction of modern suspension bridges. Fibroin is an insoluble protein, created by the silkworm larvae, that comprises the center of that filament.
Intriguingly enough, if you extract the fibroin from silk filaments, isolate it, and hydrolyze it, the result is a compound with medicinal properties for human beings. It’s especially beneficial for our central nervous system.
Although fibroin supplementation is still somewhat cutting-edge, and research on it is in its infancy, the initial results have been promising. It appears that fibroin can improve memory, attention, and even mathematical abilities in healthy persons who don’t have any cognitive impairment.[12] It has also been shown to improve blood flow to the brain and increase cognitive flexibility, or “task-switching,” in children.[13]
This ingredient is known as Brain Factor 7, and in the videos above on this page, you can listen to Joey Savage of Glaxon discuss its potency.
-
English Ivy (Hedera helix) extract – 75 mg
English ivy, the common name for the plant Hedera helix, is an ingredient that’s typically used in pre-workout supplements for its respiratory benefits and in nutrient-partitioning supplements because of its beneficial effects on glucose and fat metabolism.
There’s quite a bit of evidence that Hedera has benefits for people with respiratory disease. Several published scientific papers have reported that Hedera can be used to effectively treat bronchitis and other ailments by reducing airway restriction.[14-16].
What does this mean in the context of a nootropic stack? Simply put, easier breathing means better oxygenation of the brain and, in turn, better cognitive performance.
Aside from the Brain Factor 7, this is the other unique and powerful ingredient inside, and we’re finding it in several of Glaxon’s supplements, including their Specimen G.F.Y pre workout and Slyce fat burner. Expect to see more of this one, since it just seems to make everything work better.
-
Caffeine Anhydrous – 62.5 mg
One of the most ubiquitous and well-understood compounds in all of supplement science, caffeine is famous for its ability to cross the brain-blood barrier, enabling it to block receptors for adenosine and phosphodiesterase in the brain.[17] This in turn will alleviate feelings of fatigue, while increasing the activity of neurons in your brain.[17]
Evidence is mounting that caffeine is neuroprotective in dopaminergic disorders of the brain, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, so it’s not too surprising that in healthy people, caffeine has been shown to improve a wide range of cognitive abilities.[18]
Customize your dosing schedule!
One of the things we learned in our recent interview with Glaxon CSO Joey Savage was that they designed this supplement to have a very “modular” stack, meaning that they wanted to provide consumers with a wide range of doses to choose from. That’s why caffeine is dosed relatively low here, at 62.5 milligrams: it’s so that you can consume multiple scoops in a single sitting, if you so choose, without taking too much caffeine for your own good.

-
AstraGin – 12.5 mg
The big selling point of AstraGin is that it increases bioavailability of pretty much any other ingredient you’d put in a supplement, much like how black pepper increases the bioavailability of curcumin. In other words, including a little AstraGin will increase the effectiveness of pretty much any supplement it’s put into.
AstraGin does this because it contains astragalosides and ginsenosides that boost the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), thus making more ATP (energy) available to intestinal cells whose job it is to absorb nutrients from the digestive tract.[19,20]
AstraGin is a fairly well-studied ingredient, with over 20 published papers demonstrating its ability to increase the absorption of aminos, both water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, and other nutrients.[21-26]
-
Theobromine – 12.5 mg
It’s not surprising to see caffeine anhydrous paired with theobromine, since these two molecules are in the methylxanthine class and synergize with each other. Because of its ability to both decrease appetite and increase energy levels,[27,28] theobromine is mostly included here because it has caffeine-like effects on the CNS.
Just like caffeine, theobromine is a phosphodiesterase and adenosine inhibitor capable of crossing the brain-blood barrier.[27] It differs from caffeine in that it has a significantly longer half-life, meaning you won’t experience nearly as much of a “crash” or withdrawal as it wears off.

Other Ingredients
In addition to the bioactive compounds we’ve discussed above, Goon Energy also contains a variety of B vitamins and electrolyte minerals. As most readers probably already know, B vitamins are crucial for efficient glucose metabolism and cognitive function, so it makes perfect sense to see them in a gamer-focused nootropic supplement. And electrolytes must be replaced continually for anyone who’s in a high-stakes, high-stress competitive environment, since stress increases the rate at which electrolytes, such as magnesium, are eliminated from the body.[29]
First, note that Glaxon is using their trademarked Astrolyte mineral blend, which is enhanced by fructooligosaccharide (FOS) for better absorption. This is in nearly all Glaxon sports supplement powders, and also comes sold separately, so if you’d like to learn more about it, read our article titled Glaxon Astrolyte: Hydrating Electrolytes That Do More.
The next important thing to note here is that Glaxon is using the good stuff, the methylated forms of B vitamins that have been shown to have superior bioavailability. The reason that’s the case is un-methylated B vitamins must be methylated by the body before they body can use them, and the process of methylation is usually a rate-limiting step. By supplying the vitamin in a pre-methylated form, Glaxon is ensuring that all the B vitamins included in their product will be fully available to the body. Because B vitamins are water soluble, any excess (except in very extreme doses way beyond what we see here) will simply be eliminated in the urine without causing harm to the body.
The other ingredients are:
- Vitamin B1 (as thiamine mononitrate) – 25 mg
- Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxal-5′-phosphate) – 1.25 mg
- Folate (as L-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, sodium salt as Arcofolin) – 100 mcg
- Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) – 125 mcg
- Magnesium (as magnesium citrate) – 24.5 mg
- Chloride (as sodium chloride) – 91 mg
- Sodium (as sodium chloride) – 60 mg
- Potassium (as potassium citrate) – 57 mg
Flavors Available
Originally launched as Goon Mode in two flavors, the list below is updated with all Goon Energy flavors:
They’re naturally colored, and stick to fruit flavors that come in their color scheme (ie Team Red is cherry, strawberry, and pomegranate while Team Blue is heavily blueberry based).

Conclusion
We love this nootropic, and think it’s suitable not just for gamers, but for anybody who’s doing intense mental work. For college students who are scrambling to prepare for exams and need an extra edge, Glaxon Goon Energy Nootropic could be a great alternative to more traditional stimulants.
Don’t be deceived by the low caffeine dose – four scoops hits far harder than you’d expect, and you’re likely fine in the 2-3 scoop range for most activities (and if you need more, then it’s time to start talking about the Specimen pre workout).
Expect to see more from ingredients like Brain Factor 7 and English Ivy Extract, which definitely put a little more action in this incredible gaming supplement.
Our only question for readers is, which team are you on? Team Red or Team Blue?
