Alpha Lion SuperHuman SUPREME: Back and Better Than Ever!

You asked for it, and Alpha Lion delivered! SuperHuman Supreme is back with an updated formula, it’s available online and at select retailers!

If you’ve been keeping up on the PricePlow YouTube Channel and PricePlow Instagram, you know that we recently published our “late to the game” Alpha Lion SuperHuman Review, which tagged on to our Alpha Lion SuperHuman blog post.

The review is incredibly enthusiastic because it’s got a perfect blend of stimulants for nearly any type of consumer — what we consider an “entry-level high-stim pre-workout” since it’s not too strong, but definitely not weak. Alpha Lion SuperHuman is great for those who want a little something “extra” on top of a standard caffeine-based pre-workout.

That’s great, but what if you’re heading to your local retailer and want even more energy?!

Introducing Alpha Lion SuperHuman Supreme!

Alpha Lion

Finally, the brand that makes you SuperHumanAlpha Lion – has a Protein Powder – and it’s no “me-too” formula!

If you’ve grown accustomed to those entry-level aggressive pre-workouts, you’ve likely found yourself sometimes searching for something more during a training session. Maybe the week has been rough, or the day’s been long – the fact of the matter is, we’ve all been in those situations, and getting in a solid workout becomes rather difficult.

In these types of scenarios, you feel like you need to be a bit more than SuperHuman. Luckily, Alpha Lion has got you covered, as they’re providing something to take you to the next level – SuperHuman Supreme. It contains all the good things that make SuperHuman so special, but tosses in even more stimulants and exotic ingredients!

Formerly limited edition, now here for the long-term!

Now, some of this may sound familiar to you. Alpha Lion originally launched SuperHuman Supreme back in May of 2019, however, it came with a caveat – it was meant to be a limited edition product, with the formula being available for only a short amount of time. Alpha Lion surely knew what they had in this pre workout, but they couldn’t have predicted all of the recognition it would receive.

SuperHuman Supreme 2020

The newest rendition of SuperHuman Supreme is available as a retail exclusive!

Upon its release, the demand for SuperHuman Supreme absolutely took off. The intense formula was grabbing the attention of numerous consumers and Alpha Lion simply didn’t have the stock to satisfy everyone. Thankfully, they took a good look at what the product could do if it was a regular inclusion in their portfolio. SuperHuman Supreme is back full-time, and we’re extremely glad to see it once again! Whether you were lucky enough to get your hands on it initially or missed out, SuperHuman Supreme is now here to stay!

Make no mistake about it, this is a high-octane formula, meant for those looking for more than a “moderately aggressive” pre like SuperHuman. This powder hits fast and hard and is designed to deliver an insanely intense pre-workout experience. If you happen to be one of these people, this formula may just be one of the best options in that category!

In this post, we’re going to tell you all about what makes SuperHuman Supreme so special – both the ingredients it shares with its predecessor (SuperHuman) and the things that take things up a notch. Before we get to it, make sure you’re subscribed to PricePlow, where you can get some of the best supplement deals, news, reviews, and interviews out there!

The ingredients – what makes it supreme?!

This formula is downright loaded with stimulants, so much so that you should definitely consider half-scooping it before going with a full dose. We’ll continue mentioning it below, but we want to preface this analysis by reiterating that this SuperHuman Supreme is extreme – it’s not meant for most people, nor is it, as Ben said, meant to be used for every training session.

SuperHuman Supreme 2020 Label

A high energy formula with a fully transparent label!

That being said, for those workouts that you truly need an extra push, SuperHuman Supreme will do more than that – it’ll absolutely shove you towards an intense session. The formula is sectioned off into matrices based on the purpose behind specific inclusions, so that’s how we’ll lay it out below. Here’s what each full-scoop, 17g serving gives you:

  • SuperHuman Energy & Focus Matrix

    • Caffeine Anhydrous – 300mg

Kicking off the concoction of stimulants is tried-and-true caffeine anhydrous. This form of caffeine is perhaps the most basic, quick-acting form of the stimulant there is, and its purpose is to get you going immediately. There’s a reason why caffeine anhydrous is often the most widely used stimulant in these kinds of formulas – it works!

With its ability to increase energy levels well understood,[1] caffeine is also a potent exercise-enhancing agent. A study from 2010 found that caffeine increased performance in trained cyclists,[2] while additional research has cited potential strength enhancement in a dose-dependent manner.[3] If you’re interested in testing something like SuperHuman Extreme out, you’ve likely used caffeine prior to a training session before, and have seen first-hand what it can do!

The above research suggests that a 5 to 6mg per kg of body weight dose yields performance benefits,[3]which comes out to around 375mg of caffeine for a 160lb individual. Although we would suggest that lower doses can still be effective, SuperHuman Supreme lives up to those standards and then some. It gets things started with a heavy 300mg of caffeine anhydrous, which will absolutely get you wired. That’s not all, however, as there’s plenty more of caffeine, as well as other stims, coming in this label!

    • Juniper Berry Extract – 200mg

Alpha Lion has removed their ‘bonus stim’ that was included in previous formula for a more compliant ingredient, Juniper Berry extract. You’re starting to see this included in more pre workouts because it anecdotally increases the effects of caffeine, giving you that ‘high-stim’ feeling.

However, more research needs to be done on this ingredient before we can determine if it provides its own effects or just makes the caffeine hit harder. We are interested to see how this new formula compares to the old one, however it is a smart move by Alpha Lion to make it more accessible to everyone. And don’t worry, this is still going to give you enough energy to power through the toughest training session!

    • N,N-dimethylphenethylamine Citrate – 200mg

      Super Human Supreme Slaughtermelon

SuperHuman Supreme is back and better than ever!

To take those catecholamine levels up another notch, Alpha Lion is including N,N-Dimethylphenethylamine citrate (DMPEA), too! This ingredient is an advanced form of PEA supplementation that’s becoming increasingly popular these days. While research has found that PEA is incredibly powerful in terms of catecholamine release,[4] it’s also found that normal PEA is broken down by monoamine oxidases (MAO) rather quickly, limiting its overall effects.[5] DMPEA, which contains two additional alkyl groups, actually slows down MAO enzymes. This keeps the PEA around longer, which extends the euphoria quite a bit.

Yet another exotic stimulant, DMPEA at 200mg takes the euphoric experience of SuperHuman Supreme to another level, and will ensure that you’re feeling good during your training!

    • InfinergyTM (DiCaffeine Malate) – 100mg

Dicaffeine malate, listed here as InfinergyTM from BASF, is simply caffeine bonded to malic acid. It operates similarly to caffeine, but it has one distinct difference – due to the presence of malic acid, dicaffeine malate takes longer to stimulate. Because it takes a bit longer to get going, it acts as almost a secondary jolt in energy, helping to keep energy levels high as caffeine anhydrous begins to wear off!

      SuperHuman Flavors

Looking for a pre workout that’s a little less intense, check out SuperHuman!

As if this formula needed more stims! Regardless, dicaffeine malate is likely here to help prevent the notorious crash often inherent with large caffeine anhydrous dosages. This will keep your foot glued to the gas pedal, keeping you moving long after you first take a serving of Supreme!

This dose yields around 75% of caffeine, so you’re getting an additional 75mg of the stimulant here. That pushes SuperHuman Supreme’s caffeine total up to 375mg total (300 from anhydrous and 75 from Infinergy), which is on top of the other stimulants working their magic here.

    • N-Methyl Tyramine HCl – 75mg

Rounding out this insane stim matrix, Alpha Lion finishes things off with N-methyl tyramine HCl (NMT), also known as hordenine. It mainly acts as a beta-2 agonist, which triggers your adrenals to signal the “fight-or-flight” response. This state not only unleashes more adrenaline and other neurotransmitters but also helps you dip into fat stores for energy.[6] Additional research suggests that NMT can increase cAMP levels, which further pushes energy upwards due to increased epinephrine and glucagon secretion.[7]

This 75mg dose is the same as what the standard SuperHuman packs, and it’s a worthy adversary to all the other stimulants on this label. It chips in additional energy, as well as induces a bit of focus and euphoria!

  • SuperHuman Pump Matrix

    • L-Citrulline Malate (2:1) – 7000mg

Citrulline malate is one of the most common pre-workout inclusions on the market, as its benefits speak for themselves! In fact, it may be an even more desirable form of citrulline than citrulline itself – taking the amino acid and bonding it to malic acid actually increases absorption and aids digestion.

Citrulline has made its name as a nitric oxide (NO) boosting-ingredient, showing the ability to induce vasodilation through increasing arginine production.[8] It’s enhanced bioavailability may make it the best tool available for this, performing better than arginine itself![8]

      Citrulline

The citrulline pathway we’re going for starts at the top right and goes down to the bottom right!

Vasodilation is just the first step in the long chain of benefits citrulline yields. With better blood flow, more oxygen and nutrients reach muscles at a faster rate. While this does bring some “pump” for sure, it can also significantly boost your training. Research from 2010 found that citrulline supplementation increased training repetitions by 52.92% compared to placebo, thanks to citrulline’s fatigue-reducing abilities![9] This increase in endurance not only fought fatigue but left participants feeling less sore, as well. If you’re serious about your training, that means you can get back in the gym faster, increasing your overall volume!

Pertaining to citrulline malate, specifically, studies have come across some interesting findings. One study from 2007 saw that citrulline malate supplementation increased amino acid uptake,[10] which perhaps explains both the decreased fatigue and soreness. Either way, anything that can help get aminos to the places calling for them rarely ever a bad thing!

With the clinical dose ranging somewhere between 6g and 8g, the 7g dose in SuperHuman Supreme puts us right in the sweet spot. In fact, the dose here is at a 2:1 ratio, which actually delivers more citrulline (4.67g) than usual! Once that intense energy kicks in, getting the pump going will only help you train harder. With citrulline malate, you may even be able to train longer, too!

    • L-Taurine – 1000mg

Taurine is one of the most effective ingredients we have these days, and it does not get nearly the amount of attention it deserves! It’s a conditionally-essential amino acid, which means the body is able to produce small amounts on its own. However, that means that we’re responsible for getting the rest of our daily allotment through other sources, mainly foods and supplementation. That’s important based on its influence within the body alone,[11] but when you consider its endurance-enhancing effects, adding some taurine to the mix becomes even more crucial!

      Fights off lactic acid…
      Taurine Molecule

Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids that helps draw water and nutrients into muscles that helps with endurance but also doubles as a focus booster

Like citrulline, taurine is mainly known as an endurance-booster. That being said, it operates a bit differently than most other ingredients that have earned that tag, which only increases its relevance in products like this. Research from 2003 identified the mechanisms that taurine affected once ingested – the compound inhibited lactic acid build-up.[12] Lactic acid is the waste the body produces as it grows fatigued, so keeping that from building is crucial in terms of endurance.

Another study from 2003 saw the eventual outcomes of that effect. Scientists gave trained male cyclists taurine, and after an intense exercise session, their bodies were assessed for markers of fatigue. They found that those who were administered taurine had increased their VO2 max, time to exhaustion, and overall workload.[13] They were able to go harder for longer, and felt less taxed after doing so!

      …and muscle soreness!

Speaking of feeling less spent, taurine doesn’t stop working its magic once training has stopped. No, it continues working hard while you recover. After men given taurine completed a weightlifting session, scientists found that they had increased muscular strength, decreased muscle soreness, and decreased oxidative damage.[14] Taurine helps you pushes you during your workout, and because you’ll feel better after, it helps motivate you to get back after it sooner!

      Teams up with stimulants

Considering the massive total of stimulants we’re dealing with here, we’d be remiss to forget to mention taurine’s relationship with these energy-boosting ingredients, specifically caffeine. Research has shown that when taken together, taurine and caffeine work synergistically to improve focus and performance.[15] Beings we have so much caffeine here, this relationship can truly shine within this label!

With 1g, the same dose in the standard version of SuperHuman, Alpha Lion is delivering just enough of this fatigue-fighting amino. While it may not get the much hype, taurine is a welcome addition to virtually any label, and that’s no different here!

    • S7️ (Green Coffee Bean Extract, Green Tea Extract, Turmeric Extract, Tart Cherry, Blueberry, Broccoli, Kale) – 100mg

      S7 Logo

In order to finish off the pump matrix, Alpha Lion is going after NO one last time with yet another novel ingredient! S7TM is a trademarked blend from FutureCeuticals that takes a mix of extracts from fruits and vegetables to boost nitric oxide production. Given how new this ingredient is, research is still in the early stages, but the initial results are promising – S7TM yielded NO production increases by as much as 230%![16]

As encouraging as that study is, we’re still awaiting more research regarding this nitrate-free pump producer. That being said, that massive NO increase can’t be ignored, which Alpha Lion surely isn’t doing by including it here! If you’d like more information on S7TM, take a look at the attached PDFs from FutureCeuticals.[17,18]

  • SuperHuman Strength Matrix

    • Beta Alanine – 3500mg

Beta alanine is a derivative of the amino acid alanine, and is perhaps one of the most powerful supplement ingredients we have! It’s most commonly associated with endurance and while it’s displayed strong abilities there, it may have additional power-boosting effects, too.

      Gain-O-Rade Triple Stack

Gain-O-Rade is a very underrated amino acid and electrolyte supplement that’s perfect for intra workout!

Multiple studies have found significant relationships between beta alanine supplementation and improving endurance. One meta-analysis concluded that the ingredient, when given to individuals performing exercises lasting between 60 to 240 seconds, can seriously boost their endurance.[19] Another study saw significant reductions in blood lactate levels in cyclists taking beta alanine, as well as overall better training sessions.[20]

Better endurance = more available power!

Despite all of these endurance-related studies, SuperHuman Supreme has beta alanine classified as a power-boosting ingredient. That actually makes sense when you think about it – feeling less spent, you’re able to exert more force and power! Sure enough, research has provided grounds for such a statement.

In a study from 2009, cyclists were administered beta alanine daily over the course of eight weeks, with scientists testing markers of power post-exercise. At the end of the eight weeks, they found that those taking beta alanine had increased their peak power output by 11.4%, compared to only a 5% increase in the placebo group.[21] Being able to use more power has its obvious benefits, specifically when it comes to progressing in your training!

No stranger to the pre-workout market, it’s always a pleasure to see beta alanine in an already strong formula. Considering its endurance-enhancing, strength-boosting effects, at this awesome 3.5g dose, we’re very happy to see it in SuperHuman Supreme!

    • Betaine Anhydrous – 2500mg

      Betaine Benefits

The placebo effect was strong with this group (in Cholewa’s study discussed below).[https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3844502/] But… the real gains obliterated placebo in due time!

Betaine is often in the same conversation as beta alanine as a typical pre-workout inclusion, having grown more popular in recent years. Also known as trimethylglycine, betaine has displayed some truly powerful abilities in research. Studies show that it can increase work capacity and power, as well as improve body composition![22]The natural ergogenic aid has shown its capable of improving multiple markers of strength, such as force exertion jumping power.[23]Interestingly, betaine may complement the other pump ingredients in SuperHuman Supreme. This compound is an osmolyte, which means it helps water move throughout cells. Considering that taurine also acts in a similar manner, the two can supply even more pump, backing up the other vasodilating ingredients on this label!Tag-teaming strength with beta alanine, this 2.5g dose of betaine plays a huge part in helping you feeling stronger while training. You’re getting the clincally studied dose to reap all the benefits!
  • SuperHuman Anti Crash Matrix

    • L-Theanine – 150mg

      L-Theanine

This simple-looking amino acid can help you relax and dial in, especially with all the stims here!

Theanine is an amino acid abundant in green tea levels, which is where most extracts tend to come from. We’ve been seeing it more often lately, and we’re growing more and more fond of it with each sight. Theanine is known for its relaxing yet non-sedating experience, providing a nootropic effect that warrants its use in many sleep or stress-related supplements. That might make it sound like its out-of-place here, but don’t worry, it’s not!

Research has found a very interesting synergistic relationship between theanine and caffeine. When taken together, the two improve cognition and alertness,[24] while also “taking the edge off” of the stimulant. In other words, theanine helps you focus that stimulant-powered energy on the task at hand, getting you zoned in, while also making it a more smooth boost in energy.

Considering how much caffeine is in SuperHuman Supreme, as well as all of the other stimulants, a 150mg dose of theanine is much-appreciated. With a dose equivalent to that of caffeine anhydrous, this ingredient will work to keep you from reaching high-stim heights and crashing abruptly. Theanine is here to see that you put all of this energy to use, as well as hold onto it for a bit longer!

  • SuperHuman Absorption Matrix

    • Astragin – 50mg

      AstraGin

AstraGin is a combination of Astragalus and Panax Notoginseng that’s been shown to increase ingredient absorption, especially of amino acids!

In order to properly absorb all the ingredients from this epic formula, Astragin a blend of Astragalus membranaceus and Panax notoginseng is included! This ingredient comes from NuLiveScience, a very well-known ingredient supplier. It increases the absorption and thus utilization of various nutrients,[25] to help you get the most out of this product. At the end of the day, if you don’t absorb the ingredients, then your body cannot do anything with them. We love seeing this added to the product!

    • Bioperine (Black Pepper Extract) – 10mg

With so much going on within SuperHuman Supreme, Alpha Lion knows it needs to take measures to ensure you get as much of the formula as possible! Thus, they’ve included Bioperine, or black pepper extract, on the label! This ingredient is here strictly to improve the bioavailability and absorption of everything else in here,[26] working to ensure this formula provides as much of the benefits we’ve already discussed!

It may not be the star of the show, but this 10mg dose of black pepper extract definitely deserves some love!
