Prodigy XT – PNI’s Prodigy Gets an Upgrade

PNI Prodigy XT

PNI’s Prodigy XT is on its way out!

A bit over a year ago, PNI’s flagship product, Prodigy, topped our Top 10 Pre Workout Supplements list. But after a reformulation and some new competition, it ended up slipping a few spots.

PNI plans to stop that slide and reverse it. According to the company, their new version – Prodigy XT – was enhanced to increase the stimulant effect.

All it took was one look at the new formula, and we were blown away. They have indeed found a way to intensify an already-extreme product.

Let’s take a look:

To quickly summarize — they practically share the same formula.

There’s only one change, but it makes all the difference…

Prodigy XT contains 2-amino-4methylpentane citrate, you might know it as AMP citrate.

If you haven’t heard of AMP citrate by now, you’re going to want to take a few minutes to check out our article linked above. This is a fantastic-feeling stimulant that will put you in the zone for the workout of your life.

Basically, if you’re looking for an intense pre-workout – this is going to be it. Prodigy XT falls right into line with the most potent pre-workouts legally available.

What do the other Prodigy XT ingredients do?

We find it cool that PNI kept the other dosing the same — after all, it’s a great formula that employs a true one-scoop policy. It just needed that extra stimulant.

Our one wish is that we knew exactly how much caffeine was in this, so that we could dose it accordingly. Most users probably don’t want to start with a full scoop — and in fact, should start at half a scoop to assess (we’re serious when say this).

  • There’s a full 3.2g of beta alanine

    Beta Alanine Boosts Exercise Performance

This might be the only pre workout where there’s a full, research-backed 3.2g of beta alanine in one scoop. Epic for your muscular endurance needs. ~3.2g is the number that you want to get in each day.

The problem is, most pre workouts have half of the dosage (at best), so you either need to take two scoops or you need to find more beta alanine elsewhere to get the endurance effects.

Not the case with Prodigy XT.

  • A full game of Agmatine Sulfate

Agmatine sulfate is a popular nitric oxide boosting ingredient. Most products, again, contain half this dosage. If you like the pumps you get from 500mg, you’ll love 1g.

This is a great ingredient. It sets of a “metabolic cascade” that drives a ton of beneficial reactions for your performance – both in mind and in matter. The cognitive benefits to agmatine will go along well with the N-Acetyl-Tyrosine and the stimulants.

  • Creatinol-O-Phosphate

Read that again – this is not creatine. Prodigy XT is creatine-free, so you’ll need to get your 3-5g of creatine elsewhere (not to fret, it’s crazy cheap, just see our creatine monohydrate price comparison page).

Unfortunately, Creatinol-O-Phosphate (also known as COP) doesn’t have a ton of research on humans, but it’s great for the hart (is cardioprotective), and it leads to potential cellular integrity.

Many users experience far better pumps with taking COP, and that’s likely the main reason why it’s in Prodigy XT. We just wish there were more studies on it, since it seems so promising as an ergogenic aid.

The other Energy and Focus Ingredients

The Energy and Focus blend brings glucuronolactone, which is popular in energy drinks; N-Acetyl-Tyrosine, the highest quality form of Tyrosine that boosts focus more than normal L-Tyrosine; the aforementioned AMP Citrate; PEA for a quick mood lift, and Narigin, a grapefruit flavonoid that increases absorption of the other ingredients.

If you’re still a fan of Prodigy and don’t want to add the AMP Citrate, then it’s time to stock up on Prodigy while you can. We still love that blueberry flavor!

But it is our assumption that once Prodigy sells out, it’s out… and then it’s XT time.
