A clinical dose doesn't need a capsule anymore. NNB Nutrition's "Ready to Consume" concept builds around ingredients small enough to disappear into a gummy, a shot, or a snack.
For most of the supplement industry's history, "how much" and "how it's delivered" were separate questions. A clinical dose was a clinical dose, whether it showed up in a capsule, a scoop of powder, or eventually a can. That's changing. Consumers, especially younger ones, want the same energy, recovery, and longevity support they'd get from a supplement stack, but delivered through the food, drinks, and gummies they're already reaching for.
NNB Nutrition has been building toward this for a while. Its "Rethink The Drink" work reformulated energy drinks and RTDs around small, potent doses of clinically studied active constituents instead of the bulky botanical extracts those categories used to require. The company's newer push, which it calls "Ready to Consume" (a phrase Shawn Wells coined), extends that same logic past the can and into food, snacks, and gummies.
The idea in both cases is the same: an ingredient shouldn't need a capsule to work. It just needs to be small enough to fit into something else. That's a harder problem than it sounds like, and it's a useful lens for looking at four of NNB's branded ingredients.

The Numbers Behind the Shift

NNB Nutrition demonstrates how beverage makers can create naturally sweetened functional drinks without compromising taste. Their "Rethink The Drink" concept showcases SweetVantage technology alongside clinical doses of GeniusPure Alpha-GPC, SalidroPure, and TyroPure.
The shift isn't just a marketing framework. NIQ data shared with NutraIngredients showed vitamins and supplements pulled in $784 million in TikTok Shop sales over the 52 weeks ending February 2026, making the category TikTok Shop's largest Health & Beauty segment, ahead of facial skin care and fragrance.[1] A lot of that discovery happens through content that never says "supplement" at all. It's a snack, a drink, or a gummy first.
The dollar figures for the underlying category are large, though how large depends on who's counting. New Hope Network puts the U.S. functional beverage market at $92 billion, projected to reach $106.93 billion in 2026.[2] Widen the lens to functional food and beverage globally, and Meticulous Research puts 2026 at $358.5 billion, growing to $725.25 billion by 2036.[3] Different firms draw the category lines differently, but the direction holds across all of them: real growth, concentrated in formats that aren't capsules.
Four Ingredients Built for Small Servings
Getting there is harder than it sounds. Most functional ingredients are first developed for their function, not their organoleptic properties. If anything, at first, they may be designed for capsules, where a few hundred milligrams of bitter, chalky extract can disappear without anyone noticing. Put that same extract in a gummy or a can of sparkling water, and the serving size, taste, and solubility problems show up immediately.

Meet MitoPrime: The most 'slept-on' immune system supplement ingredient on the market, based on pure L-Ergothioneine - a master antioxidant molecule that's been shown to outperform glutathione!
NNB's answer is precision fermentation. Rather than extracting an active compound from whole plants (which are frequently quite bitter), the company "prints" it using engineered microorganisms, yielding a single purified molecule instead of a botanical extract that carries additional inactive plant material along for the ride. That's the same "Pure, Potent, Precise" logic behind the rest of NNB's ingredient platform (introduced in Episode #192 of the PricePlow Podcast), and it's the reason the four ingredients below work at doses small enough to leave room for the rest of the formula.

MitoPrime® - 20mg
MitoPrime® is NNB's fermentation-derived form of L-ergothioneine, an antioxidant amino acid that mammals can't produce on their own and have to get through diet or supplementation. Researchers are calling it a "longevity vitamin", given how consistently blood levels decline with age.[4]
It's the ingredient NNB points to most often when it talks about small-dose, large-impact formulas, and the research on ergothioneine backs that framing up. In a four-week, placebo-controlled trial in adults with sleep complaints, a 20mg daily dose reduced light, non-restorative sleep, increased time in deeper sleep stages, and cut down on time spent awake after falling asleep.[5] Other trials on the compound have used anywhere from 5mg to 25mg for cognition and skin outcomes, but 20mg is a realistic number to build a gummy, shot, or fortified snack around without it eating into the rest of the formula.
GlucoVantage from NNB Nutrition, featuring dihydroberberine, isn't just for managing healthy blood sugar. It supports better body composition, boosts energy, and may lower the risk of chronic illnesses. But today, we focus on its ability to combat Advanced Glycation Endproducts.
For more on the broader ergothioneine research, NNB runs Next New Vitamin, a site dedicated to the topic and how it's been named a candidate vitamin, an assessment we agree with after diving into the research.

GlucoVantage® - 100mg
GlucoVantage® is NNB's version of dihydroberberine, a reduced form of berberine developed to solve berberine's biggest practical problem: you need a lot of it. Standard berberine absorbs poorly, which is why most berberine products carry gram-level daily doses split across several capsules, not the kind of serving size that fits into a beverage or a gummy.
In a small pilot crossover trial, a 100mg dose of dihydroberberine produced a peak plasma berberine concentration roughly nine times higher than a 500mg dose of standard berberine, using one-fifth the material, and total berberine absorption over two hours was nearly seven times greater.[6] It's worth noting that this pilot had just five participants and measured absorption rather than a downstream health outcome, so the numbers mainly describe pharmacokinetics. Still, the direction is clear, and it's the reason dihydroberberine, rather than standard berberine, shows up in beverage and food concepts where a gram-plus serving isn't an option.

GeniusPure® - 315mg
Three RTD launches -- UPDATE Energy, Bucked Up Drive Hydration, and Life Cider X -- all chose GeniusPure Alpha-GPC. Stable in liquid, high yield, and backed by clinical data showing 108% better cognitive performance at the low dose.
GeniusPure® is NNB's branded Alpha-GPC, a choline compound that's shown up in pre-workout and nootropic products for years with mixed research results, mostly because older studies used inconsistent doses and designs. A 2024 trial cleared some of that up for GeniusPure specifically: 20 resistance-trained men took a placebo, 315mg, or 630mg of GeniusPure in a randomized, crossover design, then completed a Stroop cognitive test an hour later.[7] Both doses beat placebo on the Stroop test, and neither dose statistically beat the other. At 315mg, the improvement over placebo was more than double, making for the kind of clean, single-serving result a formulator can build a real claim around.
That study where the "double your focus" moniker comes from.
While 630mg isn't a realistic serving size for most formats (mainly due to price), 315mg is, especially if it can be split across just two gummies, for example. NNB has already gotten GeniusPure into several high-profile RTD launches built around that math.

DL185® - 2g
Ralf Jaeger said it on our podcast three years ago. The human body is lazy. So when the body spends its own ATP turning leucine into dileucine, without a supplement label involved, that's worth a closer look. The case for DL185 is in the cost.
DL185® is NNB's branded form of dileucine, a dipeptide made of two linked leucine molecules. The idea is that a dipeptide gets absorbed through a different gut transporter (PEPT1) than free amino acids, letting it reach muscle tissue faster and in higher concentrations than an equivalent amount of leucine alone.
The research on dileucine backs that up at small doses, too. In a crossover trial using stable-isotope tracers, 2g of dileucine increased muscle protein synthesis to roughly 60% above what 2g of leucine alone produced, with both doses matched exactly on amino acid content.[8] A follow-up 10-week resistance-training trial using the same 2g daily dose found dileucine users gained 71kg in combined bench press and leg press one-rep max, compared to a 29kg gain in the placebo group, a difference driven mostly by leg press.[9]
2g is a dose that fits inside a shot, a gummy, or a scoop of just about anything, which is the entire point. We've covered the broader theory behind why the body makes dileucine from leucine in the first place if you want the deeper mechanism.

Shawn Wells and Dustin Elliott reveal NNB Nutrition's Pure, Potent, Precise revolution at SupplySide Global 2025, discussing precision fermentation, Pürest Creatine, OnSwitch beverage innovation, and the future of pharmaceutical-grade supplement ingredients on Episode #192 of the PricePlow Podcast
The Format Is the Innovation
None of these four compounds are new discoveries. Ergothioneine, dihydroberberine, Alpha-GPC, and dileucine have all been studied, to varying degrees, for years. What's changed is that the research keeps landing on dose ranges small enough to disappear into a gummy, a shot, or a fortified snack. That's the premise behind Ready to Consume, and it's why NNB is updating its formulator's corner page to cover the concept in more depth.
For brands, the question isn't whether tiny-dose, clinically studied ingredients exist anymore. It's whether a given product format can be built around one without asking the consumer to change a single habit.
