2019 has been quite the year for NutraBio, the brand led by industry mastermind Mark Glazier who never compromises on quality and full disclosure.
A chocolate peanut butter flavor that’s nut allergen free?! You better believe it!
It actually started in late 2018 with the new Strawberry Ice Cream flavor of NutraBio’s 100% Whey Protein Isolate, and things got crazy with release after release — one every Friday — all throughout the first half of 2019. It’s nut allergen-free!
That’s right – if you have peanut allergies and still want to partake, then game on! We don’t have all of the details, but NutraBio VP Dan Margolis simply sent this:

100% Whey Protein Isolate Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss Nutrition Facts
The profile is the same as most other cocoa-powered 100% Whey Isolate flavors from NutraBio:
As discussed in this post on Nutrition Facts vs. Supplement Facts, if it’s a Supplement Facts panel, you don’t list the Fat or Sugar if it’s under 0.5g (technically 0g)!

It shouldn’t need repeating by now, but NutraBio’s 100% Whey Protein Isolate is just that – a WPI90 sourced protein with the only source of protein as WPI90, or a Whey Protein Isolate that’s 90% by weight.
This takes the whey concentrate (described below in Classic Whey) to the next level, with added filtration to remove even more lactose / milk sugars and other impurities, leading to a higher protein-by-weight “efficiency”. It’s better for more lactose-sensitive users (or the most extreme of carb- or fat-cutters), but is also more pricey as shown in the PricePlow price widgets above.
The real story, discussed lower down, however, is the lack of nut allergens in the flavor system!

What’s in Classic Whey?
The ingredient profile is best explained by our main Classic Whey write-up, but it’s quite simple: the protein is 100% based upon tried and true WPC-80, which is short for “Whey Protein Concentrate 80%”, meaning that it’s a whey protein powder that is 80% protein by weight.
While not as “protein pure” as 100% Whey Protein Isolate, this brings a bit more value, a smoother texture, and a bit of extra benefits from additional immunoglobulins and growth factors that can get filtered out when moving towards a pure isolate.
If you can handle a bit of milk sugars (lactose), then this is the protein to get.
Fully-disclosed, third-party tested label
As always, NutraBio tells the full story here, including the fact that there’s 750mg cocoa, 700mg natural and artificial flavor, 550mg salt (far more than most flavors), 220mg xanthan gum as the only thickener, and 75mg sucralose (which is actually 5mg less than many of the other flavors!) paired with 75mg acesulfame potassium for sweetening.
And of course, all NutraBio products are third-party lab tested at an off-site lab, and the brand publishes the labs for each lot number! You can see Mark Glazier’s dedication to quality in our 2019 NutraBio Plant Tour video and explanation.
But with this product, we have something even more interesting than all of that…
No peanut allergens in a chocolate peanut butter flavor?!
Look at this part of the label once again:
Of course, a whey protein has milk allergens… but where’s the nut allergen warning?! There isn’t one!
Beneath the “Other Ingredients” area are the allergens. You will always see the milk allergen warning on a whey protein… but note that there’s no nut allergen warning on this tub!
Somehow, Michael Perez and the team at NutraBio did it once again, providing a peanut butter based flavor to consumers without using nuts, which means that those with nut allergies can give this a shot! A true game-changer to anyone who’s had to deal with this their entire lives! We non-allergic consumers definitely take peanut butter for granted sometimes…

NutraBio’s done it again, with another great upgrade of old flavors. Mark Glazier told us they were going to change things in a big way in 2019, but they still would never sacrifice or compromise on many of their values.
One of the great things they’ve done is bring supplements to many who formerly didn’t trust or couldn’t always use them. With no fillers or excipients in their capsules, and no hidden ingredients anywhere, that mission was accomplished. But bringing a chocolate peanut butter flavor without nut allergens? That brings the inclusivity to a whole new level!
