The collaboration that started it all is back with a vengeance. Ghost Energy is launching WARHEADS Sour Black Cherry, bringing one of the brand’s most iconic flavor partnerships into its tremendously successful energy drink lineup. This flavor holds special significance for Ghost, as Warheads was their very first flavor collaboration partner back in 2017 with the original Ghost Legend pre-workout.
The timing couldn’t be better, as Ghost was recently acquired by Keurig Dr. Pepper for $1.65 billion, demonstrating the incredible growth the brand has achieved. As detailed in Episode #116 of the PricePlow Podcast with Ghost CEO Dan Lourenço, Ghost Energy has been instrumental in that meteoric rise, bringing authentic flavor collaborations to the energy drink space just as they did with supplements.
This limited-time offering will first be available exclusively through the Ghost app on December 20th, 2024 through their “Secure-A-Can” promotion, before hitting national retail shelves on January 27th, 2025. With Ghost’s track record of nailing these nostalgic candy flavors in both supplements and beverages, we’re excited to see how they’ve captured the bold, face-scrunching sourness of Warheads in this new energy drink format.

Ghost Energy Ingredients
Ghost has established itself with a fully transparent formula that delivers both physical and mental energy. Let’s break down what’s inside each can, but if you want a full analysis with scientific references, see our main Ghost Energy article:
-
Carnipure L-Carnitine L-Tartrate – 1000mg
L-carnitine L-Tartrate was specifically chosen for its stability in liquid form, and when it comes to carnitine, Carnipure is the biggest name in town. This ingredient helps transport fatty acids into the mitochondria where they can be burned for energy, supporting both energy production and fatty acid metabolism. Ghost specifically uses this form because it maintains its effectiveness in liquid form over time, unlike other forms of carnitine initially tested.
-
Taurine – 1000mg
A powerhouse amino acid that’s severely underrated in the supplement world, taurine works synergistically with caffeine to enhance both mental and physical performance. At this clinical 1-gram dose, taurine has been shown to improve muscle force production, support better endurance, and enhance focus – making it far more than just another energy drink ingredient.
-
Natural Caffeine – 200mg
Ghost specifically chose natural caffeine from coffee beans rather than synthetic caffeine anhydrous, aiming for a smoother, more sustained energy boost without the harsh crash. The 200mg dose hits the sweet spot that appeals to most consumers while providing meaningful effects, and the natural source helps avoid the “jitters” often associated with synthetic caffeine sources.
-
Alpha-GPC 50% – 150mg
Alpha-GPC serves as a premium choline source that strengthens cell membranes throughout the body and supports both cognitive function and power output. This highly bioavailable form of choline helps produce acetylcholine, often called the “learning neurotransmitter”, making it valuable for focus and mental clarity. The 150mg dose (providing 75mg of actual alpha-GPC) works excellently alongside the caffeine and NeuroFactor.
-
NeuroFactor Coffee Fruit Extract – 100mg
A unique ingredient that sets Ghost Energy apart from other energy drinks, NeuroFactor isn’t another caffeine source – it’s actually a polyphenol source derived from coffee fruit and helps boost levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This special compound supports cognitive function, neuroprotection, and overall brain health, making Ghost Energy more than just an energy boost.
-
AstraGin – 25mg
AstraGin is a patented ingredient combining astragalus and panax notoginseng root extracts in an effort to help enhance the absorption of other nutrients. It may also support overall gut health and reduce inflammation.
