EVL BCAA Energy

Energy aminos are a dime a dozen, until you taste the Fruit Punch BCAA Energy from EVL Nutrition!

Energy aminos have become one of the most popular categories of sports nutrition supplements the past few years. What once appeared to just be a small niche in the market has exploded to become virtually as popular as pre workouts themselves — in all likelihood do to society’s endless dependence and demand for caffeine, but that’s another story….

Anyway, we’ve covered quite a few energized aminos on the blog and we’ve got another one today courtesy of EVL Nutrition, though this one’s made with natural caffeine and quite possibly the best-tasting fruit punch we’ve ever had!

BCAA Energy is an ideal option for anytime energy, muscle building, or recovery due to its combination of BCAAs and smooth, natural energy.

BCAA Energy Ingredients

BCAA Energy is all about its namesake — BCAAs and energy. Each serving pairs a full 5g dose of 2:1:1 BCAAs along a moderate dose of caffeine for a solid pairing of increased energy and enhanced recovery and muscle-building.

  • BCAAs 2:1:1 (5g)

    EVL BCAA Energy Ingredients

Each serving of BCAA Energy packs a full 5g dose of 2:1:1 BCAAs alongside a moderate 110mg caffeine for anytime energy and muscle-building.

There’s no goofy 4:1:1 or 8:1:1 BCAA ratios like you’ll see from other brands, EVL has included the research-backed ratio of 2:1:1. As such, each serving of BCAA Energy provides you with 2.5g of Leucine, 1.25g of Isoleucine, and 1.25g of Valine.

Leucine is key here, as it’s regarded as the primary ignitor of the mTOR pathway in the body.[1] Triggering mTOR keeps the body anabolic, so you stay in muscle building / repairing mode more often and away from muscle breakdown (catabolism).

Plus, consuming BCAAs has also been shown to improve recovery and combat soreness, otherwise known as DOMS.[2,3]

BCAAs don’t always taste great, but EVL’s got that covered – especially with the fruit punch flavor!

  • CarnoSyn Beta Alanine (500mg)

Here’s where EVL makes us scratch our heads, if you’re using EVL ENGN and RecoverMode you’re getting the full daily dose of Beta Alanine. While having a little extra never hurts when dealing with saturation-based ingredients such as Beta Alanine or creatine, we have to wonder if there’s much benefit if at all from a 500mg dose. So we put the question to EVL and here’s what they followed up with:

”Our goal was to make BCAA ENERGY the most versatile anytime energy and BCAA support product with added benefits from b vitamins and other amino acids including beta-alanine so our users would be able to:

    • Take multiple times a day in place of less beneficial caffeine based options
    • Take at 2-3 servings on occasion for more intense energy
    • Use on the same day they take pre-workouts or other recovery products that contain beta-alanine such as ENGN or RECOVERMODE.

As a result, we wanted to beta-alanine level to match that multi-use/multi-serving behavior, so if someone took BCAA ENERGY multiple times a day, took more than one serving at a time, or used other pre-workout and/or recovery products it would put daily use in the ideal range, which is why there’s 500mg of beta-alanine/serving in BCAA ENERGY. The most important aspect of beta-alanine’s effectiveness is that you consume the right amounts everyday over time, while the time of day is secondary, in order to increase ongoing muscle carnosine levels which has multiple performance benefits.”

  • L-Alanine (500mg)

    EVL Morgan Self

So many choices for BCAAs from EVL, which will EVL athlete Morgan Self choose?

L-alanine is a vital component of protein biosynthesis in the body, performs certain regulatory functions. Additionally, alanine is also important to overall metabolism as roughly 30% of it is synthesized by muscle tissue. Most interestingly perhaps, is that alanine plays a critical role in gluconeogenesis — creating glucose from noncarbohydrate substances, i.e. amino acids![4]

  • Taurine (500mg)

Taurine is found throughout the body, but it’s primarily stored in the brain, heart, and muscles. Taurine functions as a cell volumizer where it supports hydration.[5]

However, since a decent amount is stored in the brain, it’s also great for enhancing focus and attention.[6] Taurine is also great for recovery too, as it works with BCAAs to decrease muscle soreness..[7]

  • Natural Energizers (110mg)

Each serving of BCAA Energy contains 110mg of caffeine per serving from a blend of to natural energizers in Natural Caffeine and Green Tea Extract (standardized for EGCg). Using natural caffeine provides for a smoother, more sustained released of energy than the sometimes harsher-hitting anhydrous.

110mg caffeine is an extremely appropriate amount for a mid workout energy boost or late afternoon pick me up. It’s about as much as you’d get in an 8-10oz cup of coffee and isn’t so much to where you’d have trouble sleeping at night even if you dosed BCAA Energy around 3 PM or so.

And no bitter taste from these stims – just wait til you try the fruit punch flavor!!
