Animal Foundation Stack: Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega, Bundled

Most advanced supplement protocols rest on the same three daily staples: a comprehensive multivitamin, joint support, and essential fatty acids.

Animal Foundation Stack: Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega, Bundled

Animal Foundation Stack bundles Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega so your multivitamin, joint, and omega base is covered before anything else.

Animal Foundation Stack puts all three together in one package, bundling Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega at a lower price than buying each separately. Animal calls this the starting point -- the baseline every athlete should have dialed in before adding pre-workouts, creatine, and anything else to the stack.

The logic behind this isn't new. When we sat down with Jason Budsock of Animal on the PricePlow Podcast, the conversation kept coming back to the idea that consistent, year-round nutritional coverage separates athletes who keep progressing from those who stall out from injury or micronutrient gaps. The Foundation Stack reflects that philosophy: three products that aren't glamorous but have earned their place in serious athletes' daily routines over four-plus decades.

Animal Pak covers micronutrient gaps and adds performance-support compounds your diet most likely isn't hitting, including antioxidants, performance aminos, and full-spectrum vitamins and minerals at training-relevant doses. Animal Flex targets the connective tissue and cartilage that bear the most load during heavy training. Animal Omega fills the essential fatty acid gap that shows up in almost every athlete's diet when eating to hit macros rather than food quality. Run all three consistently, and you've built the nutritional platform everything else gets stacked on.

What's in the Foundation Stack

Each product in the bundle has its own detailed PricePlow coverage. Here's the working summary of all three.

  • Animal Pak

Animal Pak is the product that built the brand. Universal Nutrition developed it in 1983 to address the micronutrient demands of the biggest, hardest-training athletes on the planet, and the philosophy hasn't changed since.

Animal Pak Pills vs Powder: Complete Formula Comparison

Animal Pak pills vs powder: same vitamins and minerals, totally different formulas. Pills pack exclusive complexes not in powder. Powder brings performance compounds missing from pills. Which format wins for your training goals?

A single pack now delivers more than 60 key ingredients across eight pills (down from 11 in the 2023 update), covering 25 vitamins and minerals, 21 amino acids, a whey protein blend (concentrate plus isolate), digestive enzymes, liver-detoxifying compounds, ergogenic aids, and energy and focus boosters. The 2023 update also added AstaPure astaxanthin (sourced from Haematococcus pluvialis), Spectra (a full-spectrum nutraceutical antioxidant blend), chlorella and spirulina for heavy-metal detox and additional antioxidant support, and ginkgo biloba for cognitive and energy support.

The breadth of coverage is the point. Most nutritional gaps in athletes (especially those eating to hit specific macros rather than food quality) don't come from one missing vitamin. They come from a cluster of undersupported micronutrients quietly dragging down immune function, energy production, recovery, and hormonal balance. Animal Pak addresses the full spectrum.

One pack daily covers most athletes' needs. Animal's recommendation is two packs for optimal results, preferably with your first meal. Because the formula includes energy-supporting ingredients like cocoa bean powder and Spectra's coffee-derived components, avoid taking it within four to five hours of bedtime.

  • Animal Flex

Animal Flex is joint support built on the same pack format that made Animal Pak famous, and it earns the nickname "the Animal Pak of joint supplements" by doing what single-product formats can't: fit clinically relevant doses of multiple joint-support categories into a single daily pack.

    Animal Flex New Look

Most joint supplement formulators have to choose. Glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM alone require five to six large capsules to reach effective doses, which leaves no room for anything else. Animal Flex sidesteps that problem entirely. The Joint Construction Complex leads with glucosamine in both HCl and sulfate forms (covering the two most-researched versions), chondroitin for cartilage matrix support, and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) for connective tissue integrity and joint comfort. These three have decades of use behind them and require consistent daily intake. Glucosamine in particular needs up to six months before its full effects become apparent.

But what separates Animal Flex from simpler joint products is the second layer. On top of the structural stack, the formula adds boswellia and quercetin for additional inflammatory-response support, turmeric for its well-established role in joint comfort and a healthy inflammatory response, hyaluronic acid for synovial fluid and joint lubrication, and vitamins C and E for connective tissue maintenance and antioxidant protection at the joint level.

Novel omega-3 fatty acids round out the pack version's profile, but if you prefer a powder, Animal Flex Powder swaps the omega-3s for collagen.

  • Animal Omega

Animal Omega is Animal's essential fatty acid pack, updated in 2024 with more EPA, more DHA, a fully disclosed (non-proprietary) formula, and fewer pills than the previous version. The 2024 update also removed cod liver oil and added more CLA.

    Animal Omega 2024 New Formula

Animal Omega has been updated in 2024 with a new formula, featuring fewer pills, more EPA & DHA, a non-proprietary formula, and no more cod liver oil!

The case for supplementing quality fats is stronger than most athletes realize. Modern diets, heavy on processed foods and refined oils, have pushed omega-3:omega-6 ratios dramatically out of balance. Humans historically maintained a ratio close to 1:1, but the Western diet now skews it toward 20:1 in favor of omega-6. Research has connected that imbalance to cardiovascular risk, metabolic dysfunction, and increased inflammatory burden. Correcting the ratio matters, and diet alone rarely gets the job done for athletes eating to caloric targets.

Each Animal Omega pack contains four softgels and one capsule drawn from seven sources, with the Omega-3 Fatty Acid Complex weighing in at over 3,500mg total. Sources include concentrated fish oil (for EPA and DHA), krill, flaxseed, and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), among others.

EPA and DHA carry the heaviest research load in this area: improved triglyceride profiles, higher HDL, reduced cardiovascular risk markers, and support for brain function and mood. CLA contributes on the metabolic and body composition side. The pack also includes an absorption and transport complex, improving how those fatty acids are actually put to work rather than just ingested. Stacked with Animal Flex, you're covering both the structural and fatty acid sides of long-term joint health simultaneously.

How to Use

Animal Foundation Stack: Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega, Bundled

  • With food: Take all three packs with meals. The fat-soluble components in Animal Omega and several micronutrients in Animal Pak absorb better alongside dietary fat.
  • Spread the day: You don't need to take all three packs at the same sitting. Spreading them across two or three meals keeps your pill burden manageable and absorption consistent.
  • Dosing: One pack of each per day is the standard protocol. Animal recommends two packs of Animal Pak daily for optimal results, though one pack is sufficient for most athletes.

Stacks Well With

The Foundation Stack is Animal's term for what should go in your daily routine before everything else. Once it's locked in:

  • Animal Creatine lineup: From Animal Creatine Chews to Animal Creatine HMB+, creatine is the most direct performance add-on to layer on top of a solid nutritional base.
  • Animal Protein lineup: Animal Pak doesn't contribute meaningful protein. Whether you run Animal 100% Whey, Clear Whey Isolate, or Animal Meal, daily protein intake is your responsibility outside this stack.
  • Animal Primal Pre-Workout: For training days when you want a pre-workout, Animal Primal fits naturally alongside the Foundation Stack.

Who It's For

  • Dedicated strength athletes: If you're training four to six days a week, you're creating micronutrient, joint, and fatty acid demands that general-purpose supplements don't address.
  • Athletes with heavy training loads: The combination of Animal Flex and Animal Omega is especially relevant for powerlifters, strongman competitors, and anyone accumulating serious loading volume over months and years.
  • Anyone building out a supplement regimen from scratch: Animal's own recommendation is to have the Foundation Stack running before adding anything else. That's sound advice.

Conclusion: Start Here, Then Build

Animal's Protein Powder Arsenal: Finding Your Perfect Match From 4 Premium Options

Most people know Animal for their legendary Animal Pak, but they've quietly built one of the most complete protein lineups in the industry. From budget-friendly 100% Whey to refreshing Clear Whey Isolate to premium Loaded Whey with caffeine -- they've got every base covered.

Animal's case for the Foundation Stack is simple: if the nutritional base isn't solid, nothing stacked on top reaches its potential. Animal Pak, Animal Flex, and Animal Omega cover three jobs that need to get done year-round, and the bundle makes doing all three more affordable and easier to commit to.

These aren't products built around a novel mechanism or a trending ingredient. They've stayed in athletes' lineups for decades because they address fundamental training needs that don't change. When training is serious, the foundation has to match it.

When you're ready to build further, Animal has a full creatine lineup, protein options for every training phase, and performance-specific products that all layer on top of what the Foundation Stack provides.
