It’s a stimulant-free pre workout supplement for the end-times, and it’s PricePlow-approved and then some!
Who doesn’t love a good pump product? They’re great for everything from next-level strength on a heavy lifting day to your lifeline during a stimulant-break to a muscle primer for a pool party when the shirts are coming off. (We’ve all done it, so don’t pretend like you haven’t!)Point is, you can never go wrong having a good “pump” supplement in your cabinet, and holy smokes do we have a good one here from our favorite nuclear apocalypse brand.
Those of us lucky survivors who were wise enough to prep for the end-times now have a supplement company who’s prepared us for the epic pumps needed to slay the spiral-eyed zombies all day long. Our regular readers know exactly who it is at this point – Outbreak Nutrition!
But this brand isn’t just smoke and mirrors – we’ve consistently been blown away by everything they’ve thrown at us (most recently, their Adapt glucose disposal agent), and their stimulant-free SERUM is no different.
Serum is ready to deliver its users a preworkout pump experience that is nuclear all in its own glory, no stims required. Why? The well-known ingredients are impressive on their own, but the new VASO-6 puts things on the next level – and we were not ready for what Outbreak had in store for him.
We’ll get to his review, but first, it’s time to compare prices with PricePlow and see if our Outbreak Nutrition coupon can be beaten (sign up for alerts on Outbreak News too – they are putting out lots of stuff lately!)

Now let’s see what’s in Serum:
Outbreak Serum Ingredients
How many times have you heard “quality” over “quantity?”
Serum takes that approach and is filled with only six active ingredients:
- Citrulline
- Potassium Nitrate
- Nitrosigine
- VASO-6
- Huperzia Serrata
- Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
Let’s roll down the list and show you why this could be the new king of “pump” supplements.
-
Citrulline (4g)
Here we go, starting things out right! You know you’re getting a pumped-up product when the first major ingredient is Citrulline. Arguably the most well known nitric oxide booster at this point, Citrulline gets the highly-respectable 4g dose in Outbreak Nutrition’s Serum. We enjoy 3g, but we love 4g – especially when stacked with other pump ingredients!
Citrulline drives nitric oxide uptake during high-intensity exercise, and it actually works by converting into L-arginine first — but this nitric oxide pathway is a much more efficient means to accomplish that end,[1] rather than taking straight L-arginine itself, which ultimately doesn’t work for that purpose.[2]
But don’t worry, we have a way to get arginine into gear, and it’s going to help with the next ingredient as well:
-
Potassium Nitrate (500mg)
Also known as its molecular formula, KNO3, Potassium Nitrate is a fantastic way to increase nitric oxide levels. It has shown to cause strong physiological responses to exercise and weightlifting, such as muscle efficiency and oxygenation, which could possibly boost performance.[3]
A study performed tested the effects of nitrate supplementation by taking two group of lifters, giving half of the group a 500mg dose of nitrate and the other group received a placebo. The test results confirmed nitrate supplementation benefits. Each group performed various exercises for arms and legs, and the group that supplemented with nitrate increased its time to exhaustion by 7% more than the group that supplemented with the placebo.
Potassium Nitrate is still being studied but the effects certainly look like they can aid us in all forms of exercise.
-
Nitrosigine (Inositol-Stabilized Arginine Silicate 500mg)
Ever heard of Nitrosigine? Many of our readers have, but many others haven’t — this is a trademarked name for a arginine silicate that’s been bound to inositol, and it’s owned by Nutrition 21.
This is how you make arginine actually work!
Nitrosigine has been scientifically proven to increase nitric oxide (NO) and silicon blood levels in the human body – but that was admittedly at greater doses.[4] When taken at the clinical doses of 750-1500mg, it can boost vasodilation, cardiovascular health, and even aid in metabolic dysfunctions.[4]
The catch is that it seems to need to be supplemented over time to see the peak benefits. With a sub-clinical but still-decent dose here in SERUM, that may take a bit longer to happen.
Beats Arginine HCl
We all know that improved blood flow during exercise is a good thing. Compared to Arginine Hydrochloride, Nitrosigine is nearly 200% and 400% more effective in improving a subject’s maximum blood flow.[5] It also increases blood plasma arginine levels for up to one and half hours, so pre workout is the time to take it. Unless of course you need some assistance in the bedroom…!
Arginine also improves nitrate tolerance
Now here’s an interesting take – this is a a small dose of arginine here (as most of the 500mg here is taken up by inositol and silica), but arginine has been shown to improve nitrate tolerance,[6] so that your tub is great from start to finish. And it’s postulated that it may still help work alongside citrulline.
So a huge dose of citrulline, a serious dose of potassium nitrate, and a moderate dose of Nitrosigine packs a 1-2-3 punch that is truly synergistic… and we haven’t even gotten into the new ingredient yet!
-
Vaso 6 (300mg)
As much as we truly love the formula so far, this is why we’re here today!! The latest kid on the stim-free pump block, VASO-6.
From the folks at Compound Solutions, VASO-6 is a patented blend of six different potent compounds titrated from green tea catechins.[7] Don’t roll your eyes when you see “green tea”, this ingredient has been designed to pull out exactly what’s needed to improve blood flow by dilating the blood vessels. And looking at the patent, it seems that our old friend epicatechin is one of the six components – more specifically, galloylated epicatechins.
Another reason why this is such a great pre-workout ingredient, Vaso 6 stimulates endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) enzyme which combats fatigue and improves strength & recovery.[8] That study was mostly done on epicatechin, however, so there may be more to this than only that research!
While VASO-6 increases nitric oxide production, which will give users a more efficient blood flow, it’s marketed to increase ATP production and nutrient delivery.
Although there isn’t too much data on the ingredient, the reviews have been through the roof – and that includes the original review on PricePlow’s YouTube channel too!
Long story short (and we’ll eventually have a full analysis on this ingredient), if you’re looking for something new in the nitric oxide world, then this is it.
-
Huperzia Serrata (5mg)
Bringing some focus to the SERUM comes Huperzia Serrata, standardized to 1% Huperzine A. This means you’ll be getting 50mcg of Huperzine A – a relatively low dose.
Huperzine A is popular in Nootropic supplements due to its memory boosting abilities. It prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine, which is an important memory boosting compound that we call the “learning neurotransmitter”. Specifically, it limits the enzyme that breaks acetylcholine down.
This brings some benefits associated with focus and concentration and is no doubt a solid addition to Serum, but is lower-dosed than many other products we see, and is honestly not why we fell in love with the formula.
-
Vitamin B3 (Niacin, 50mg)
When most of us think about Niacin, we think about the flushing effect it has on our skin. People naturally assume this is a bad thing but Vitamin B3 has some significantly potent effects that can boost your cardiovascular health.
For instance, Niacin can boost the body’s levels of paraoxonase 1, which is an enzyme designed to protect against lipid oxidation.[9] It is supplemented to reduce cardiovascular disease by fighting lipid oxidation and can improve HDL Cholesterol, but more importantly to us, can actually boost growth hormone signaling within the body, helping to convert food into energy![10]
These are all welcomed additions to a pre workout supplementation. If a little flushiness is going to offer the aforementioned benefits, it seems like a worthy addition to your pre workout stack.

The Rest
Finally, we can look at Serum’s flavoring and other ingredients. It contains some common pre-workout ingredients and there isn’t anything to nitpick, such as: citric acid, natural and artificial flavoring, malic acid, silica, sucralose, ace-k, turmeric root, and spirulina extract.
This is currently where we like to see things — a bit of artificial sweetener for the taste, but no artificial colors necessary. By using ingredients such as turmeric and/or spirulina, Outbreak Nutrition keeps it a bit more “real”… and if those ingredients add even a tiny bit of benefit themselves, no complaints there either.
The SERUM is here, and it is the Real Deal
Outbreak Nutrition is a supplement company unlike any other. Check out its website and you will see the company markets itself for top-shelf supplements with a twist — for survivors of a worldwide nuclear fallout, in the year 2044 – and zero fitness marketing on the site! But they do talk about crushing skulls in the end-times!
So in wake of your escalated need for survival skills, Outbreak’s products are geared to help you run fast, fight harder, and recover more efficiently, so you can slay the zombies and look damned good while doing it.
It takes a bit of work for us to get excited over a stimulant-free pre workout supplement, but Outbreak did it here with SERUM. There are three well-known “proven” ingredients, but now you have a chance to see if VASO-6 is truly next-level. And to us, it most certainly was.
This can be stacked with Outbreak Nutrition’s PATHOGEN pre workout, but since that already has 4g worth of citrulline and 350mg worth of nitrate, you may not even need a full scoop. But if you want to get the glorious 300mg dose of VASO-6, then it’s on to a full scoop for serious showtime.
The end is here, but we’re not worried because SERUM is here.
