Intra-Workout Ingredients

True to form, MaxQ’s Intra-Workout is transparently dosed, and just like their Pre Workout, this thing is a true behemoth in its own right — each scoop weighs a hefty 24.5g!

  • BCAA 2:1:1 (10g)

    MaxQ Nutrition Intra Workout Ingredients

MaxQ Intra-Workout boasts a massive 10g dose of BCAAs to lead off their behemoth intra supplement!

Easily one of the largest doses of BCAAs we’ve ever come across in an intra-workout supplement – and definitely the largest at 2:1:1! As we saw in their pre workout, MaxQ again uses the time-tested 2:1:1 BCAA ratio yielding 5g Leucine, 2.5g of Isoleucine, and 2.5g of Valine — per serving!

Combined with their pre workout, that means you’re getting a total of 16g of BCAAs before and during your workout. This is sure to stimulate the mTOR pathway in the body[1], which keeps you anabolic, even during the most intense and lengthy training sessions.

The added BCAAs will also help improve recovery and prevent delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).[2,3,4]

At first, we were a bit puzzled why the dose was so high, when there’s already a considerable amount of BCAAs in MaxQ’s Pre Workout, so we contacted MaxQ for an answer:

”10 grams indeed appears to be the largest BCAA dose for supplements out there, but because a lot of people haven’t spent hours reading studies to understand BCAA dosing, they may think 2 grams of BCAAs in their current supplement is sufficient.

But, it’s not–and in terms of daily intake — it’s not even close. A daily intake of ~20 grams of BCAAs is recommended — with a balanced ratio of leucine and isoleucine. This dosage increases fat oxidation, increases glucose uptake and enhances muscle protein synthesis. If you’re taking 2 grams and only getting an additional 8 grams through food—you’re not maximizing your results—in fact, you may be wasting your money. It’s like taking half a vitamin—why bother?

Based on scientific recommendations, we dosed at 10 grams to ensure 50% of daily BCAA intake is covered with one scoop of MaxQ MaxedOUT intra-workout. The rest should easily be obtained through protein consumption or a combination of pre-workout and intra-workout supplementation and diet.”

  • L-Glutamine (5g)

    What time is it?!
    GYM TIME!

Heralded as an all-time muscle builder and recovery agent[5], Glutamine makes an equally strong showing coming in with a 5g dose. Why so much glutamine when it’s the most abundant amino in the body?

Well, during times of intense training or extreme stress, glutamine stores can become depleted leading to premature fatigue and decreased performance. Including 5g ensures Glutamine stores never dip allowing you to avoid premature fatigue during your workouts and spur recovery as soon as you’re done.

However, we must point out that Glutamine tends to get taken up by the stomach when it’s not dosed with Alanine[6], meaning it won’t make it all the way to the small intestines for absorption and transport to your muscles — where it’s most needed.

Still, the 5g dose here is significantly more than what you’ll find in most intra workouts, which are usually around 1000-2000mg. So if you’re a fan of glutamine, this is immediately an intra you’ll be interested in.

  • L-Taurine (2.5g)

Taurine is one of the most prevalent aminos in the body. It’s mostly stored in the brain, muscles, and heart, and due to these vastly different locations, it exerts a number of unique benefits. First and foremost, it acts as a cell volumizer, helping support hydration.[7] Also, taurine improves mental focus since a good bit of it is stored in your brain.[8]

Most important of all for our purpose here, Taurine has been shown to reduce muscle soreness when consumed alongside BCAAs (described above).[9]

  • L-Threonine (1g)

    MaxQ Nutrition Intra Workout Genetic

Push past your genetic limits with the help of MaxQ Intra-Workout for plateau busting workouts!

Threonine is alpha amino acid involved in the body’s construction of proteins. More specifically, it’s required for the biosynthesis of glycine and serine to stimulate muscle protein synthesis (MPS) in the body.

  • L-Tyrosine (1g)

We saw Tyrosine show up in MaxQ’s pre workout at a standout 2g dose, and it makes another appearance in their Intra-Workout with an additional gram.

More tyrosine will lead to greater dopamine production during your workouts leading to vastly improved cognition and focus while combatting stress and anxiety.[10,11]

  • L-Lysine (500mg)

L-Lysine is an essential amino acid required for the production of carnitine — a substance that helps the body turn fat into energy and regulate cholesterol levels. For our purposes here, lysine is heavily involved in building muscle protein, calcium absorption, recovering from injuries.[12,13]

  • L-Phenylalanine (500mg)

    MaxQ Beach

Get in beach ready shape using MaxQ’s stellar line of products to chisel your physique for the summer.

Think of Phenylalanine as a pre precursor for neurotransmitter production in the body. L-Phenylalanine is first converted to Tyrosine and then subsequently converted into epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and L-Dopa. These 3 crucial neurotransmitters enhance mood and energy, both of which will come in handy during intense workouts.[14]

  • L-Histidine (250mg)

We all know and love the endurance booster beta alanine for its ability to sustain your work capacity during extended working sets. However, Beta Alanine is only ½ of the carnosine equation. In case you forgot, beta alanine bind to histidine in the muscle to elevate carnosine concentrations in the muscle.

Reduced levels of Histidine negatively impact muscle carnosine levels, so it stands to reason that supplementing with it will elevate carnosine levels.[15] You can consume all the beta alanine you want, but if you’re severely deficient in histidine you won’t really experience the endurance boosting effects of Beta Alanine.

We got 2.5g worth of BA in MaxQ Pre Workout, and we get the other half of the carnosine equation here in the intra workout, when it’s needed most!

  • BioPerine (5mg)

    MaxQ Excuses

When you finally have the body you’ve dreamed of, all the pain in the gym will be worth it…and MORE!

MaxQ includes 5mg of BioPerine black pepper extract to enhance the nutrient uptake by the body and ensure you’re getting the most out of all the ingredient here.

  • Electrolyte Blend (2g)

If you’re really pushing yourself in the gym, you’re going to sweat…A LOT. With that sweat, comes the loss of a significant amount of electrolytes needed by the body to ensure proper muscle function. MaxQ includes 2g worth of electrolytes in the form of 750mg each TRAACS Magnesium Biglycinate Chelate and Albion Potassium Biglycinate complex along with 500mg TRAACS Magnesium Glycinate Glutamine Complex.

This is FINALLY a legitimate dose of electrolytes. You almost never get serious doses… normally we see 25% of this and the brand calls it a day. But if you’re short on magnesium (like most Western dieters are), then this might seriously help you out!

Regarding the Formula

If you’re anything like us, you’re curious to see what’s going through a brand’s collective “mind” when they’re crafting a powerful product, such as MaxQ’s Intra-Workout. We reached out to the brand for just that:

”We conducted hours and hours of research to determine optimal dosing for each amino, but we didn’t stop there. It’s simple to go buy a ton of aminos and minerals to add to your panel. But dosing matters, as does synergistic pairing.

So we kept reading every study we could find to identify the most effective aminos, dosed at maximum levels—meaning optimal doses. What we mean by this is, while dosing can be too low to be effective, it can also be dosed too high—rendering it (the remainder amount over the effective dose) ineffective or even unsafe.

Then, we found the amino acids’ swole mates. We found what aminos work better when paired with other aminos rather than alone. For instance, glutamine, essential to immune health and recovery, can be depleted during intense training or stress/injury/illness. Tyrosine is an amino that assists the body in times of stress. Supplementing with glutamine to diminish reserve depletion alongside tyrosine to aid in stress response, in case your training consumes too much, is a scientific safety net aimed to keep your body well-oiled and on track– rather than in recovery.

So not only have we optimally dosed the formula, we’ve carefully selected and paired ingredients as a synergistic strategy to improve results and get athletes closer to their finish line.”

Stacking up Against the Competition

Another thing we were really itching to know, is what makes this product special compared to all the other intra workout supplements available. Basically, why should you (the consumer) spend your hard earned money on MaxQ’s Intra-Workout over some other popular intra workout products (i.e. Xtend, In-Kaged, etc.)?

“MaxQ stands out on its own—but even more so next to its competitors.

Let’s put it next to Scivation Xtend for instance– MaxQ has 3,000 mg more BCAAs, twice as much glutamine, and nearly twice as much amino acids and minerals per scoop. Scivation’s scoop is 15g, MaxQ’s is a whopping 24.5 g! You’re not only getting nearly twice as much per scoop, we also have nearly 10,000 more milligrams of other prized amino acids that help you build muscle and recover from training even when you’re not training, such as taurine, a fat oxidizing amino acid essential for numerous functions. That’s what makes the intra-workout a true INTRA-workout. It can be taken within the day, at any time, to still reap the benefits of every synergistically paired ingredient.

Additionally, while Xtend has an electrolyte blend—it relies mainly on sodium. Sodium is not the only electrolyte and many people get enough of it through diet—potassium and magnesium are also electrolytes—and rather than including a double dose of sodium to retain water, we actually introduce the other valuable electrolytes into the body through our intra-workout to REPLENISH electrolyte loss—which in turn, combats water loss. Furthermore, while Scivation has a patented electrolyte blend, our is as well, but we still fully expose each ingredient and dose.

That’s because we are the epitome of transparency. All our ingredients are listed alongside doses for each and every ingredient– including proprietary blends. We care about what we put in our bodies and we believe our customers do, too. That’s while you’ll never see a veiled proprietary blend on our supplements.

We took time to research, imagine and create avant-garde formulas. MaxQ Nutrition MaxedOUT formulas are 20 years in the making. Devised by a former bodybuilder and former athlete—both of whom ran the gamut of supplements out there—the formulas are the product of being let down by those supplements which fueled the pursuit of creating truly premium supplements that offer precisely what they promise.

The formula was revised time and time again until MaxQ’s founders postulated it was perfect. Backed by two decades in the industry, science and training results, what makes it stand out, at face value, is its label. Seriously—just read it. Put it next to a supplement you’ve purchased. The difference is glaringly obvious.

What perpetuates its command in the market is our desire to educate the masses—because it’s difficult to know you’re not getting what you paid for if you don’t understand the science behind supplementing.

Finally, what validates MaxQ as a leader in the market is the feedback from users who continue to share their excitement about results—they’re raising the bar on themselves. Beating their own records, and setting new ones. That’s exactly what our finish line has been since the beginning—create a product that helps athletes recreate themselves. We consider ourselves lucky to be a part of their journey.”

Flavors Available

MaxQ Nutrition Intra Workout Close Up

Could this be a new label headed for MaxQ’s Intra-Workout?!

MaxQ currently only has one flavor available for their Intra-Workout — Blue Raspberry. Hopefully, we’ll see some additional flavors as the brand continues to gain popularity.

Takeaway

We’ve encountered a lot of products claiming to be intra workouts in our years here at PricePlow, but the number of products that actually contain the goods that support performance during your workout are few and far between. MaxQ has created a superior Intra-Workout that addresses everything you need to finish your workouts as intensely as you started.
