After having used them for a month, we recognize the cost concerns, but we still have to say that we absolutely love having them around. So today, we’re doubling down on why we like them!

What Separates Egg White Crystals? The Top 10 Reasons NOT to Hate

Sure, some of you many say “what’s the big deal” about a tub of egg white crystals, but don’t scoff just yet. Give this “Top 10 List” a read and see if you’re a bit more open to the idea of tossing aside your protein powder for a tub of egg white crystals.

  1. Premium Quality

    Egg proteins are rather heat-sensitive. Typical protein powders (including egg powders) are dried at very high temperatures which denatures the protein and can give the proteins an “off-flavor.”[1,2,3] Essentially, this means that the proteins are “cooked” while undergoing processing, and as you’ve seen with whole eggs, once an egg is cooked, there’s no “uncooking” it.

    However, egg crystals are dried at much lower temperatures (under 120F), which preserves and protects the proteins, resulting in a better-tasting, more “intact” egg protein.

    Note that in Mike’s video, he compared the egg whites made from Rich Piana’s crystals to the Kirkland Signature ones from Costco, and the difference in color and taste is staggering.

  2. No Refrigeration Needed!

    A tub of egg white crystals requires absolutely ZERO refrigeration, neither does protein powder, BUT, whole eggs and cartons of egg whites DO. Often times at work or on the go, you’re not going to have access to a refrigerator or want to lug around a heavy cooler.

    Egg white crystals can stay conveniently in your car or desk drawer with no worry about spoilage, rot, or some sticky sulphur smell like hard-boiled eggs would have.

  3. Antibiotic Free, Hormone Free, Vegetarian-Fed

    Rich’s Egg White Crystals are Antibiotic Free, Hormone Free, and Vegetarian-Fed, something that can’t be easily said for the majority of protein powders or whole eggs on the market (or Rich himself!).     The typical working adult has an incredibly hectic, “on the go” lifestyle. There’s not always time to cook a meal, pack a cooler of food, etc. Rich’s Egg White Crystals are easily portable and provide a healthy high-protein snack or meal you can take on the go. You can leave it in the car or under your desk at work! No longer do you have to worry if some other devious co-worker will steal your food out of the fridge!

  7. No Possibility of Amino Spiking

    Virtually every single one of you reading this post now has heard, or even experienced, the terror that is amino acid spiking. This is a problem that has plagued the protein powder market for many years now, and still happens a fair amount of the time, though those instances are dwindling.

    With a Egg White Crystals, there’s no wondering if your powder is laced with the likes of taurine, glutamine, creatine, etc. It’s purely egg white crystals (and some flavoring for the chocolate one).

    Each scoop of 5% Nutrition Egg White Crystals gives you 25g of pure egg protein. Protein powders are often a mixture of whey protein isolate (>90% protein), whey protein concentrate (35-80% protein), milk protein, egg white protein, soy protein, and any other concoction manufacturers can dream up.

    The problem with these blends is that they are proprietary, which means you have no idea how much of each powder you’re getting, and ultimately, the quality of protein either! You might end up with a majority of cheap soy protein or whey concentrate, when it’s really whey isolate that you want.

    You won’t have that problem with Rich’s Egg White Crystals — each tub contains ONLY egg white protein, so you know exactly what you’re getting in each scoop.

That’s when it’s time to whip up a big batch in an old (and cleaned) pickle jar, put it in the fridge, and now you’re good to go until your next grocery run.

While we may not have fully convinced you to ditch your tub of whey protein powder for a tub of Egg White Crystals, hopefully you can at least see Rich Piana’s side of the story and we’ve at least opened up your mind to the possibility of keeping a tub of Egg White Crystals right next to your tub o’ protein.

Both are great in their own unique way, and each serve a purpose. Yes, they’re pricey, but you don’t have to use them all the time – they’re great in emergency food situations. So when used in the right times, they’ve definitely been worth having around, and we stand by our video!
