SKALD Ingredients

SKALD is a proprietary blend that supports fat burning and respiratory function — making it suitable as a potent fat burner or moderately stimmed pre workout with improved breathing during high intensity exercises.

There’s not a lot per scoop, so it’s really going to come down to how well these new ingredients at the end work out.

Note: Doses listed below are based on powder version. There is a capsule based version with a slightly different label.

  • Oxydynamic Blend (491mg)

    • Caffeine Anhydrous (200mg)

      Beldt Labs Skald Ingredients

SKALD’s proprietary blend is comprised of a number of potent lipolytic and respiratory support agents.

Even though SKALD is a proprietary blend of ingredients, Beldt Labs has at least disclosed the amount of caffeine in each scoop — 200mg. This is a perfect amount to get going before a workout or to power you through a long day at the office.

You’ll be more alert, more focused, and less hungry with caffeine in your system. Plus, it also helps “kickstart” the lipolytic process in the body, making this the perfect entry into a well-rounded fat burning supplement.

    • N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine

Sometimes displayed as NALT, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine is the acetylated form of the amino acid L-Tyrosine, a common focus-boosting ingredient. Tyrosine is involved in the production of several powerful catecholamines such as dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.[1]

In addition to improving focus and mood, these neurotransmitters stimulate the sympathetic nervous system and the central nervous system, helping boost metabolic rate and thermogenesis.

Unfortunately, this dose isn’t close to where we normally like it, so we’re not sure how much focus or feel you’ll actually get out of this. We’ve seen some powdered pre workout products dose their tyrosine well over a gram, which is over 5x what you’d get here.

    • Green Tea Leaf Extract

      Beldt Labs Female

SKALD lets you take your fitness, performance, and physique to new heights with its unique blend of botanicals.

Green tea’s heart-healthy benefits have long been known, and are well documented by research. Where this flavorful beverage also delivers the goods is in the weight loss realm.

Clinical research using green tea improves fat burning primarily due to EGCG’s role in promoting lipolytic actions in the body.[2,3] Additionally, you’ll also receive a mild energy boost from the subtle amount of caffeine contained in it.

    • Bitter Orange Fruit Extract

Bitter Orange, a.k.a. Citrus Aurantium, is a plant rich in a number of beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonists.[4,5] This stimulates the release of stored triglycerides, a process known as lipolysis, into the bloodstream thereby enabling the body to “burn fat as fuel.”

Unfortunately, we’re not exactly sure what Beldt Labs is standardizing here for — it could be synephrine, octopamine, or any other other alkaloids (or combinations thereof) in Bitter Orange.

    • White Willow Bark

      Beldt Labs SKALD Lungs

You’ll be able to breathe better during your workouts with SKALD, making it not only a potent fat burner, but also a moderately stimmed pre workout.

White Willow Bark has traditionally been used as a natural pain reliever, primarily because the plant contains a precursor to aspirin. As you may know, dieting diminishes the body’s ability to recover adequately (due to lower calories) which results in a general feeling of “achiness” all over. White Willow helps mute these aches and pains.

Furthermore, white willow also offers some anti-inflammatory properties[6], but the main reason it’s here is that it’s the natural source of the aspirin precursor, salicylic acid.[7,8]

      Replacing the ECA stack

As discussed on our best fat burner page, there’s been a LONG struggle to replace the ever-popular ECA stack. Whereas some new fat burners are using a combination of stimulants that the FDA doesn’t like, SKALD is using white willow bark, caffeine, and a potent botanical blend to promote an effective fat-burning environment.

    • Mullein Leaf Powder

      Beldt Labs Comparison

How does your favorite fat burner compare to SKALD?

Mullein Leaf, also known as Verbascum thapsus, is a common weed that has a strong history of medicinal use in combatting coughs, leprosy, and even tuberculosis![9]

Mullein has been praised for it’s soothing and expectorant properties. Moreover, this powerful plant exhibits antitumour, antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties too![10,11,12]

This is one of the primary respiratory support ingredients in SKALD, making for better breathing during your athletic endeavors and one of the most unique ingredients that separates SKALD from all other fat burners on the market.

Again, the take is to give it that ECA stack feel. Ephedrine is also a bronchodilator, and is used as an expectorant. Can we get some of the same properties here? The next ingredient comes into play as well:

    • Theobromine

Found in tea and chocolate, theobromine is a xanthine-like compound similar to caffeine that exerts a slower, less harsh energy kick than its more well-known brother. It’s also known to support respiratory function and fight inflammation.[13]

Theobromine is beneficial for increasing energy, focus, and, most important to our purposes, breathing[14] while reducing appetite. It’s a great “supporting” stimulant to have in addition to the initial surge of energy you get from the 200mg of caffeine in SKALD that can in help increase caffeine’s effectiveness.

    • Inula Helenium Root Powder

      Beldt Labs Dream Bigger

      The picture says it all!

Indigenous to Europe and Asia, Inula Helenium has a long history of use in combatting a number of respiratory ailments including bronchitis, asthma, and chronic coughing.[15,16] Also known as Elecampane, this botanical is yet another breathing aide included in SKALD to improve your cardiovascular performance during workouts.

Again, another take on improving breathing quality, just like ephedrine did back in the day. This makes the new Skald one extremely unique fat burning powder!

    • BioPerine

Finally, we have BioPerine, the widely used patented black pepper extract commonly seen in all sorts of dietary supplements. BioPerine improves the absorption of all the other ingredients in SKALD, ensuring your body gets the most from the powerful blend of ingredients contained within it.

On the Formula…

We’ve never seen a fat burner quite like SKALD, so we reached out to Beldt Labs to learn just a bit more about what went into crafting this one-of-a-kind product:

”SKALD is the first (and, currently, only) fat burner with respiratory support, via the inclusion of Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) and Elecampane (Inula helenium). We formulated it this way because every other fat burner out there is about “stimulant escalation”, which is basically just trying to out-energize the competition with either novel (and possibly unregulated) stimulants, or just packing their products with as many stimulants as they can get away with, this side of a heart attack. There’s only so far you can take that.

But with the combination of quality stimulants and respiratory support found in SKALD, you get so much more: most importantly, greater endurance. Greater endurance means improved aerobic metabolism. And as every top-level athlete knows, aerobic metabolism is the ultimate driving factor behind superior fat loss. Even if the goal isn’t fat loss, respiratory support is an invaluable asset to any athlete, whether novice on the treadmill, or seasoned pro competing in their 5th Ironman.”

Flavors Available

Beldt Labs Human

Breath Better & Burn Faster with SKALD

Beldt Labs just released a brand new powder version of SKALD, which means FLAVORS! Since the powder version was just released, there’s only one flavor currently available: Strawberry Lemonade.

Due to the bitter stimulants involved, fat burning powders are notoriously difficult to flavor, so we’ll see how this one works out.

As production ramps up, we anticipate additional flavors of Beldt’s top selling fat burner to be released.

Takeaway

SKALD is a truly unique fat burner that serves as the perfect “dual threat” supplement. It’ll markedly improve your fat burning potential and enhance your athletic performance all in one fell swoop.

Beldt Labs has several other new products in the works, and if SKALD is any indication of what’s to come, we’ll have to keep a closer eye on them in the coming months.

As always, you’ll find it with free shipping on Amazon. The question is how long this tub will last you, and if you’ll notice enough performance-enhancement to come back for more!
