Just a couple weeks into the new decade, and we’re already at NutraBio’s second flavor launch of the year. Quickly following Alpha EAA’s New York Punch flavor, it’s time to get back to NutraBio’s roots: protein!
In 2019, the brand launched a flurry of new products and flavors (see them on our NutraBio news feed), and a few of the most popular ones were the ultra-smooth additions to Classic Whey — namely the Strawberry Shortcake and Ice Cream Cookie Dream variations.
As a pure WPC-80 (80% whey protein concentrate) protein powder, Classic Whey brings an insanely creamy texture that lends well to certain flavors. So what better to showcase that creaminess with an Orange Cream style flavor?!
Classic Whey Gets the Orange Dream Treatment!
That’s right, it’s not just “Orange Cream”, but following in the steps of the Ice Cream Cookie Dream flavor, it’s Orange Dream!
The image above shows exactly what we’re going for – a “creamsicle” style flavor, with a balance of orange and dairy milkiness.
We have a bit of a longer story below, but first you can check PricePlow for deals and sign up for our NutraBio news alerts, as there’s always great things happening and we will be starting up more free samples too:

Are you following “New Flavor Friday”?!
Before we get into the product, if you’ve been following @NutraBio on Instagram, you’ll see them teasing these flavors in a segment known as “New Flavor Friday”, showing you more of the fun that goes on behind the scenes before the product makes it to production. An example is embedded on this post.
There are also contests for everyone to guess the new flavors, a type of engagement we love seeing. Eric is definitely doing great things, so make sure you stay tuned into @NutraBio on Facebook and Instagram!
On the note of Eric, we asked what he thought of this one:
“You know those Orange Cream pops that you had as a kid? Or some still eat as an adult, this is that in a drink exactly. Orange, creamy, rich and smooth. The flavor is phenomenal and the texture/mouth feel is perfect, Michael did a GREAT job.”

Now to the product and this flavor’s label:
Classic Whey Ingredients
Once again, we’ve got pure WPC-80, and we get 25g protein from 32.47g powder, as shown on the fully-disclosed label.
The macros are similar to the Strawberry Shortcake flavor, as well as most other Classic Whey varieties:
- Calories: 130
- Fat: 2g
- Carbohydrate: 2g (1g sugar)
- Protein: 25g
Natural Colors
Worth noting that NutraBio is using beta carotene and beet powder as their coloring agents, so no fake colors are needed here. In this case, the colors are actually beneficial!
The Classic Whey Benefits
If you can handle a bit of lactose, Classic Whey is where it’s at. The protein gives a better cost than a pure isolate, is thicker, and may even provide more protein fractions than a whey protein isolate that has some of them stripped out (such as various immunoglobulins and lactoglobulins). And the flavors just pop through that smoothness… all with macros that are still quite clean!
As always, NutraBio only uses non-denatured, cold-processed protein, as shown in one of the images above.
The other Classic Whey Flavors available
Below is a listing of all Classic Whey flavors available, then we get into the backstory:
Protein Done Proper
NutraBio gives us full label disclosure, and over the course of the past decade, has pushed the entire supplement industry to simply do better. As you can see on the label above, you get more information than just the main ingredients and macros — you also get to know how much of the inactive ingredients and sweeteners inside. This is a great thing for those who want to make sure they’re not getting hundreds and hundreds of milligrams of them.
And then it comes to the protein labeling:
“If the label doesn’t state WPC-80… it’s probably not WPC-80”
Legally speaking, whey protein isolate raw material powder has to be 90% protein by weight (it usually slips a bit below that but will always be close). However, whey protein concentrate can range anywhere from 34% purity (WPC-34) to 80% (WPC-80) — but as NutraBio has taught everyone over the years, anything in between those numbers can be legally labeled as “whey protein concentrate”! Not good for transparency!
That is, unless, you shop for a transparent brand like NutraBio that makes sure you’re getting the highest yield concentrate available! Those WPC-34s are loaded with sugar, fat, ash, and junk!
Long story short: If they’re not specifically claiming WPC-80, they’re probably not using it.
But as we know, we have more purity here. You can read more on our main Classic Whey blog post, and also remember that NutraBio shares third-party lab tests too!
There’s more to the brand than that, and if you’re interested, read our our NutraBio Story blog post.
Classic Whey Rings in the New Year like a Dream
It’s great to see another creamy follow up to Ice Cream Cookie Dream – possibly the smoothest protein flavor we’ve ever tried.
We love Classic Whey not just because of the product and its flavors, but because it’s served as an incredible educational platform showing us how to do whey protein properly.
When you want it fully-disclosed, third-party tested, and you need to know exactly where it’s manufactured, there’s no brand better than NutraBio to turn to, and Classic Whey has long been a staple. Enjoy the orange dream!
