Here’s what two scoops (15.46g) of Bolt Extreme Energy will provide to help you crush your workout:

  • Beta-Alanine – 3.2g

    Bolt starts out with a full clinically studied dose of beta-alanine, get ready to feel the tingles but also see a boost in performance!

    Beta-alanine is an amino acid that is supplemented with to increase carnosine levels in the body.[1,2] Carnosine is what carries out the benefits seen by taking beta-alanine because it helps buffer lactic acid during training.[1,2] Lactic acid accumulation is one of the reasons you fatigue and get that “burning sensation” when approaching exhaustion. Beta-alanine produces the greatest improvement with exercises lasting roughly between 1-4 minutes.[1] Needless to say, greater buffering of lactic acid allows you to go harder for longer!

  • L-Citrulline – 3g

    L-citrulline is a non-essential amino acid which transforms into arginine when it enters the kidneys. Therefore, citrulline helps increase arginine levels better than arginine itself,[3] since it gets destroyed in the digestive system. Elevated arginine levels leads to vasodilation of blood vessels, this allows quicker delivery of oxygen and other nutrients to the working muscles.[3] L-citrulline also boosts nitric oxide production which further enhances this effect.[3] Greater blood flow also helps remove waste products such as lactic acid, so you’re getting several benefits with this ingredient!

  • Betaine Anhydrous – 2.5g

    Betaine anhydrous, also called trimethylglycine, is a naturally occurring osmolyte found in several foods.     Betaine expresses its effects by donating one of its methyl groups to an amino acid called homocysteine, which causes it to be reduced and turn into methionine. Homocysteine impairs insulin signaling, which can negatively impact muscle protein synthesis.[4] Therefore, reducing the amount of homocysteine is great for achieving a better body composition and performance. Enhanced power seen with betaine supplementation is most likely caused by increased creatine production, since methionine contributes to its formation.[5]

  • Taurine – 2g

    Taurine is an organic osmolyte and amino acid that’s found throughout the body. It plays several key roles in cell volume regulation, formation of bile salts, and modulation of calcium signaling.[6] Recently, research has suggested taurine can also help reduce symptoms associated with diabetes such as joint pain and organ damage.[7-8]

    Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids that helps draw water and nutrients into muscles that helps with endurance but also doubles as a focus booster!

    So it’s great for health but what can it do for performance? A meta-analysis from 2018, found taurine is effective at boosting endurance in athletic individuals when using anywhere from 1-6g per day.[9] Increased endurance is attributed to taurine’s role in calcium handling and stabilization of the mitochondrial matrix which improves ATP production.[9] ATP serves as the energy currency for all processes in the body, thus a greater amount is crucial for several activities.
