What’s up with Glycinates?!
Amino acid chelates, such as Magnesium bisglycinate and zinc bisglycinate, bind the mineral (ie. magnesium or zinc) with the amino acid glycine, thereby “protecting” the mineral from binding to other agents, such as oxalates and phytates, which impair magnesium absorption.[8,9]
Upon researching the bisglycinate bond, there aren’t a ton of research studies available on glycinates in general. So we turned to one of the industry leaders in mineral bioavailability in Albion Minerals. They’ve published a white paper that shines some light into this up and coming form of mineral:

Beyond bioavailability: Glycine’s role in sleep and recovery
Meanwhile, there are also studies showing improvement in sleep when using glycine on its own.[14,15,16] While ZMX’s bisglycinates won’t provide enough glycine to make up for what those studies used, we definitely believe that there’s a dash of extra benefit to be had here, and it makes total sense to use a glycine-bound mineral in a sleep supplement!

Vitamin B6 (10.5mg)
Lastly, ZMX includes the most active form of Vitamin B6 for enhanced absorption Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate, or P-5-P for short. Typically, your run of the mill ZMA formula includes Pyridoxine HCl as its Vitamin B6 form, which is “OK” but not quite as good as P-5-P.
