MyoFeed Protein Blend

As we stated up top, MyoFeed is a blended protein made with the usual assortment of stabilizers and artificial sweeteners, but there’s a few ingredients that’d we’d like to highlight:

  • Protein Blend

    Purus Labs MyoFeed Ingredients

MyoFeed uses a blend of whey concentrate, whey isolate, and micellar casein to fuel you protein needs.

The vast majority of powders on the market are comprised of blends of various proteins, some utilize only milk-based proteins, while others contain egg, beef, or other plant-based options.

MyoFeed uses a solely milk-based blend that consists of: Microfiltered Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC), Cold Pressed Ultra Filtered Whey Protein Isolate (WPI), and Micellar Casein.

In case you need a refresher on whey classifications: WPC can span anywhere from 35-80% protein,[1] with the remaining percentages composed of carbs (from lactose) and fats. Now, we don’t know the exact fraction used in Myofeed, as Purus Labs hasn’t disclosed what grade of WPC they are using.

WPI is a more “refined” form of WPC that removes virtually all carbs (lactose) and fats from the concentrate powder and must contain at least 90% protein.[1]

Lastly, micellar casein, or casein, is the other 80% of protein found in milk. As opposed to whey which is ultra-fast digesting, casein is the super-slow digesting protein that provides a much more sustained release of amino acids into the body.

    Why use a blend?

Using a blend of powders enables you to not only have a superior mixing and tasting product but it’s also been proven to be optimal compared to straight whey.[2,3]

  • VitaFiber

VitaFiber is the trademarked form of Isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO), a shelf-stable and gluten free prebiotic fiber.[4] This is an ingredient that’s a hybrid between a low-calorie sweetener and fiber supplement all in one.

IMOs are a blend of short-chain carbohydrates which have “digestion-resistant” properties. Basically, this means your body doesn’t really digest it and has difficulty absorbing any calories from it. This allows for an alternative sweetening option as opposed to using only artificial sweeteners in your powder.

IMOs like VitaFiber are low glycemic, fight cavities (dental caries), and are a rich source of prebiotics,[5,6,7,8] which help further improve your digestion. Prebiotics foster support the proliferation of healthy bacteria in the gut.[9,10] They also lower the pH in your small intestines and inhibit the growth of “bad” bacteria than lead to problems with your GI system.[11]

  • Aminogen

    MyoFeed Maple Buttermilk Paige Vanzant

Don’t make Purus Labs Athlete Paige Vanzant beat you to a pulp to convince you to try the new flavor…

Not everyone digests whey protein powders all that well due to the amount of lactose that is usually prevalent when using WPC as the primary ingredient of the protein blend. This can lead to bloating and gas for some, which isn’t appealing at all.

To help you easily process and digest Myofeed, Purus Labs has included Aminogen, developed by Herbalife Nutrition.[12] This patented blend of digestive enzymes helps the body digest protein into smaller peptides which makes it easier for the body to absorb and utilize the wide array of amino acids that make up the various proteins.

Macro Breakdown

Each 31g scoop of MyoFeed contains the following:

  • Calories: 130
  • Protein: 22g
  • Carbs: 4g (1g sugar)
  • Fat: 3g (1.5g saturated)

Purus Labs rages against spiked protein!

Purus Labs Clear Facts

Purus Labs is strongly against spiking proteins, and has even provided a method for you to ensure that your tub of protein meets what the label claims.

There’s always a fear when trying protein powders from companies you don’t regularly use that their protein may be a little “light.” Of course we’re talking about amino acid spiking here, but there’s no need to worry with Purus Labs.

They let you put in your lot number to see the lab tests on their “Clear Facts” page here:

https://www.puruslabs.net/purus-truth/clear-facts

Now, you can verify each tub you buy that it indeed does carry as much protein as listed on the label and assuage any worries that your powder may be spiked.

Sizes & Additional Flavors

As with all the other flavors of MyoFeed, Maple Buttermilk Pancake will come in both 2-lb and 4-lb tubs. And speaking of those other flavors, should you want to get one of those as well, they include:

  • Chocolate Cookie Crunch
  • Homemade Vanilla Wafer
  • Mom’s Strawberry Milkshake

Wrap Up

It’s easy to get really sick of protein powder if you’re just used to drinking chocolate or vanilla day after day after day. Sure it’s nice to have a fix of chocolate every now and then, but with the wide array of options in the protein powder universe you owe it to yourself to get out and try some new and exciting options.

Purus Labs’ Maple Buttermilk Pancake will take your expectations of a protein powder to a whole new level. If you want to get ahead of the rush, make sure to stop by Suppz to get it exclusively for the next 2 weeks so you don’t have to wait for the other big box stores to carry it.
