Roughly nine years ago, Ben Hartman, a natural bodybuilder, competitive powerlifter, and strongman athlete, was fed up with the supplement industry. He didn’t understand why nearly every company created products that featured proprietary blends, inferior ingredients, and twisted science to make it seem like their supplements were somehow going to give you superpowers.
Ben has always been a science guy, over the years he’s earned a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and a M.S in Nutrition & Dietetics. In addition, Ben was a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association for a number of years and a well-respected columnist for EliteFTS. All of that is just a fancy way of saying, Ben knows his stuff.
With the combination of a solid education and high-level athletics in powerlifting, strongman, and physique sports, Ben understands how to practically apply results from research studies to real world scenarios. He has a deeper level of understanding about nutritional science than the majority of brand owners in the supplement industry. Thus, at the time he started Morphogen Nutrition, Ben was light-years ahead of the competition.
Morphogen Nutrition: Creation of Change
Entering the supplement industry is tough, especially when you don’t have a lot of first hand experience before starting. Fortunately, Ben worked with a major brand for five years as a sponsored athlete and he learned exactly what not to do. He got to experience all the misleading marketing campaigns, poorly formulated products, and under appreciation for consumers and athletes.
Ben finally had enough and decided that the best thing he could do to hopefully change the industry was to create his own brand. Thus, Morphogen Nutrition was created out of an aspiration to deliver effective, innovative, and results-oriented products to the sports supplement industry. The word Morphogen comes from the combination of morpho- (change) and gen- (to create), which ends up being “creation of change”.
From the very beginning, Ben was determined to develop products with no BS. Which is why when you look at his product line you’ll always see scientifically validated ingredients, clinically studied dosages, and fully transparent labels. Furthermore, all of Morphogen Nutrition’s supplements are made in premium cGMP and FDA registered facilities and get third party tested to ensure the potency, safety, quality, and purity of every ingredient.
MORPHODRIVE Enhance Your Absorption, Insulin Sensitivity, and Digestion
Furthermore, PricePlow has never seen formulas as powerful as Morphogen’s. Ben started out producing supplements geared towards sports performance, but now dominates the health and wellness category. One product that stands out the most to PricePlow is MORPHODRIVE, a fully loaded nutrient partitioning agent that features a solid dosages of over eight ingredients.

Nutrient Partitioning Agents and Insulin
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a massive increase in popularity of glucose disposal agents (GDAs), otherwise known as nutrient partitioning agents – and for a good reason! A well formulated nutrient partitioning agent can be beneficial for those trying to lose weight or gain muscle. GDAs are designed to support insulin sensitivity, manage blood glucose control, increase nutrient absorption, lower inflammation, and preferentially shuttle more carbs into the muscle opposed to fat.
Whether you’re looking to drop a few pounds or push the scale up on a bulk, maintaining or improving your insulin sensitivity is crucial for overall health.
Insulin is a hormone that gets secreted by the beta cells of your pancreas after specialized cells in the pancreas sense that blood sugar levels are going above normal levels. The insulin serves as a signal and tells your cells to allow blood sugar to enter, with the goal of lowering blood glucose levels.
It’s well established that a poor diet, low physical activity level, and excessive amounts of body fat can lead to insulin resistance. This means that your cells no longer respond to insulin’s signal, resulting in elevated blood sugar levels for an extended period of time. Insulin resistance can lead to a host of health issues, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. One of the best things you can do to improve your insulin sensitivity is to exercise consistently, eat a nutrient rich/high protein diet, sleep 7-8 hours per night, manage stress levels, and achieve or maintain a normal body fat level.
If you want to further enhance your insulin sensitivity or need some help in the process, then supplements can be a great tool to use. But keep in mind that not all nutrient partitioning agents are created equal and if you really want to see results, then make sure you choose one that’s efficaciously dosed with ingredients backed by research!
And that brings us to Morphodrive from Morphogen Nutrition! Morphodrive is a potent nutrient partitioning agent that’s packed with seven primary ingredients along with a solid dose of digestive enzymes! It’s one of the most well-formulated GDAs we’ve come across and with Morphogen that’s no surprise.
Morphodrive Ingredient Analysis
Get ready because we’re going to dive into the science behind each ingredient in this powerhouse, but here’s how Morphodrive should be taken: Morphogen recommends taking six capsules per day with a carbohydrate containing meal. You can either take the suggested dose all at once (preferentially with the biggest meal of the day) or divide the serving up across various meals which contain carbohydrates.
Here’s what one serving (six capsules) of Morphodrive delivers:
Chromium (as chromium picolinate) – 200mcg (167% DV)
Chromium picolinate is becoming more well known because of the crucial role it plays in metabolism, insulin secretion, and blood sugar control.
Chromium is an essential trace mineral, meaning that your body only needs it in small amounts but must obtain it from either diet or supplementation since it cannot endogenously synthesize it. Chromium can be found in various foods, but most notably meat, poultry, eggs, broccoli, grapes, and whole grains. Although chromium is involved in several physiological processes, it’s most well known for its ability to enhance the activity of insulin within the body.
Chromium’s interaction with chromodulin
Once ingested, chromium is able to carry out its-insulin enhancing effects by interacting with an oligopeptide called chromodulin.[2,3] Research shows that chromodulin is able to stimulate the insulin receptor on the cells’ surface, which helps the body shuttle glucose out of the blood more efficiently.
Typically the insulin receptor can only be activated by insulin itself, however chromodulin is able to mimic the action of insulin to a certain degree, in order to better regulate blood sugar levels. Some studies even show that the activation of chromodulin works synergistically with insulin, resulting in significantly enhanced insulin signaling.
Chromium’s interaction with AMPK
Not only does chromium interact with insulin, it also affects a key enzyme known as 5′ adenosine monophosphate-activated protein (AMPK). Studies have found that when chromium binds with chromodulin, it’s able to upregulate AMPK activity within the skeletal muscle cells.
It’s well established that AMPK is crucial in the regulation of energy homeostasis, meaning that when a cell is low in energy, AMPK will be activated to mobilize fatty acids and glucose in order to fulfill that need. Research also shows that AMPK can help with weight management and building muscle.
Why chromium picolinate reigns supreme
There are several forms of chromium available in the supplement industry, however some are superior to others. Chromium picolinate offers a wide range of health benefits, from improving insulin sensitivity, weight management, and cravings to enhancing mood and cognition.[9-15] Research shows that the amount of benefits you get is dose-dependent, meaning the higher you go, up to a certain point, the more benefits you’ll receive.
With a 200mcg dose, you can expect to see improvements in body composition, reduced body fat, enhanced glucose metabolism, and a boost in cardiovascular health.[9-14] Compared to a variety of other forms on the market, chromium picolinate is up to 15 times more bioavailable,[16,17] which is why it’s our top choice. When specifically assessing chromium picolinate, studies have shown that it’s effective at reducing cravings, suppressing appetite, and reducing body fat, while maintaining lean muscle.[9-12]

Bitter Melon Extract (Momordica charantia, wild genotype, 15:1) – 1,500mg
Now that chromium picolinate is covered, it’s time to move onto the next ingredient in Morphdrive – bitter melon extract, also known as Momordica charantia. Bitter melon is a vine that’s commonly found in parts of Asia, India, the Caribbean, and Africa. Although it offers a wide variety of benefits, it’s been traditionally used to help manage diabetes.
Bitter melon is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, including alkaloids, polyphenols, glycosides, resins, and saponins. Several studies have shown that bitter melon expresses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, hepatoprotective, and lipid-lowering properties.
Furthermore, bitter melon possesses the unique ability to prevent β-cell damage, regulate hormonal responses, and inhibit adipocyte hypertrophy. More research is needed to further elucidate bitter melon’s mechanism of action, but it’s proposed that its bioactive constituents interact with several pathways to carry out their effects, including AMPK, PPAR-α, and PPAR-γ.
Bitter melon is another powerful ingredient that offers a multitude of health benefits, and Morphodrive is supplying you with a potent extract at a great dose.
Gymnema Sylvestre Extract (leaves) (25% gymnemic acids) – 1,000mg
The next ingredient on our list is gymnema sylvestre extract, a herb that’s expresses powerful hypoglycemic properties. As you can see from the label, Morphodrive is using an extract that’s standardized to contain 25% of the main bioactive constituents collectively known as gymnemic acids, which means that a 1,000mg dose yields 250mg.
Gymnema sylvestre is a shrub that’s native to Australia, India, and Africa. It’s been historically used in Ayurvedic medicinal practices to treat a wide variety of medical ailments, such as asthma, snake bites, inflammatory conditions, and diabetes. Studies have revealed that gymnema sylvestre expresses anti-hypercholesterolemia, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective properties, along with being able to suppress sugar cravings.
Gynema sylvestre contains several phytochemicals that each provide their own unique benefits, such as oleanane saponins (also known as gymnemic acids), flavones, glycosides, alkaloids. However, it seems that the gymnemic acids do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to managing diabetes and obesity.
Researchers have reported that gymnemic acids are capable of lowering blood sugar levels by four primary mechanisms:
- Enhances secretion of insulin
- Promotes the regeneration of pancreatic islet cells
- Enhances the utilization of of glucose
- Prevents the absorption of glucose uptake within the intestine
Furthermore, gymnemic acids are able to alter your perception of sweetness by modulating taste buds, thus you’re less likely to continue eating hyperpalatable foods. Other studies suggest that gymnemic acids can also positively affect lipid profiles by reducing triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels.
The clinically studied dose ranges between 200mg – 400mg of gymnemic acids, and Morphodrive is right on par with 250mg![19-21]
Cinnamon Extract (Cinnamomum cassia) (bark) – 500mg
It turns out that cinnamon is not just a great way to add flavor to your food, it also offers various health benefits when taken at a sufficient dose with a high quality extract!
Cinnamomum cassia, more commonly known as cinnamon extract, contains several biologically active compounds, such as cinnamic acid, methyl chalcone, catechins, coumarin, epicatechin, cinnamaldehyde, and eugenol.
Cinnamon bark extract is referred to as a “heavy hitter” when it comes to glucose disposal agent ingredients. Studies report that cinnamon extract is capable of reducing fasting blood sugar levels and enhancing glucose absorption in a variety of tissues.[22-24] Researchers suggest that cinnamon’s ability to improve insulin sensitivity is attributed to a polymer it contains called methylhydroxychalcone, which mimics insulin.[23,24]
Cinnamon has also been shown to lower LDL cholesterol levels, improve HbA1C levels, decrease fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels, decrease triglyceride levels, and raises blood antioxidant levels. Overall, cinnamon is a powerhouse in the nutrient partitioning agent category and Morphodrive is providing you with a massive 500mg dose!
Fenugreek Extract (20% 4-Hydroxyisoleucine) – 500mg
Fenugreek is a herb that’s used for a wide variety of purposes, such as cooking, medicinal practices, and supplements.
If you’re familiar with fenugreek extract, it’s likely that you’ve seen it included in natural testosterone boosters. Some research has found that fenugreek extract supplementation is effective at increasing libido and testosterone levels. It’s reported that fenugreek carries out its benefits by inhibiting aromatase and 5α-reductase enzymes.
But the question remains, what is fenugreek doing in a nutrient partitioning agent?
Other research shows that fenugreek is also useful for improving glucose tolerance, decreasing fasting blood glucose levels, and positively affecting lipid profiles by lowering triglycerides, and total serum cholesterol, specifically LDL and VLDL cholesterol levels. Therefore, fenugreek may have a potential role in diabetes management.
The primary constituent responsible for fenugreek’s ability to lower blood glucose levels is 4-hydroxyisoleucine.[27,28] This amino acid acts upon the pancreas to promote the release of insulin from beta-cells. There are other compounds contained in fenugreek, such as tigoneosides and galactomannan that also promote better blood sugar control.
Other researchers report that fenugreek activates insulin receptors, which may be another reason why it expresses antidiabetic properties. Either way, fenugreek offers a host of health benefits and there are various studies that support its ability to help manage appropriate blood sugar levels. With Morphodrive you’re getting a 500mg dose that’s standardized to contain 20% 4-hydroxyisoleucine, yielding 100mg of the bioactive constituent!
Banaba Extract (Lagerstroemia speciose) (leaf) (20% corsolic acids) – 250mg
Next up we have 250mg of Lagerstroemia speciose, also known as banaba leaf extract! Banba is a tree that can be found growing in Southeast Asia, it’s leaves have been utilized for herbal remedies for years. Banaba is most well known for its antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-obesity, and cholesterol lowering properties.
Banaba extract’s positive effects are greatly attributed to it’s high concentration of corosolic acids. As you can see from the label, Morphodrive is delivering 250mg at a 20% standardization, meaning that you’ll get 50mg of the main bioactive component. Other compounds such as ellagitannins, oleanolic acid, and valoneic acid may further promote banaba’s antidiatbetic and anti-obesity properties.
A relatively large body of evidence shows that Banaba leaf extract supplementation can improve cellular absorption of glucose, improves blood sugar regulation and metabolism, enhances insulin sensitivity, reduces the breakdown of sucrose – decreasing carbohydrate absorption within the digestive system to some extent. Furthermore, corosolic acid is able to reduce gluconeogenesis, triglyceride, and cholesterol levels. Lastly, corosolic acid also expresses anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects!
AstraGin (purified and fractionated Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus) – 50mg
If there’s one ingredient that’s quickly making its way into several sports supplements, it’s AstraGin from NuLiv Science.
AstraGin is a patented blend of two potent plant extracts: panax notoginseng and astragalus membranaceus. The reason why it’s being added to a wide range of products is because of its ability to significantly increase the absorption and bioavailability of various nutrients and compounds.
PricePlow is a huge proponent of adding in a solid dose of AstraGin to get the most out of the nutrients and supplements we ingest. If the body has a hard time absorbing nutrients, then you’re not going to be able to properly utilize them. Therefore, you may just be wasting your time, money, and not getting the results you were hoping for. Fortunately, Morphodrive includes the clinically studied dose of AstraGin to solve this issue.
Clinical trials report that AstraGin is capable of enhancing the uptake of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, peptides, omega-3 fatty acids, and phytonutrients. AstraGin carries out its effects by upregulating the activity of specific transporter molecules, allowing more nutrients to be absorbed in the small intestine.
In addition, AstraGin has been shown to support gut health by reducing inflammation, promoting the growth of good bacteria, and restoring damaged intestinal walls. Lastly, gut health is crucial for a strong immune system, therefore AstraGin could be considered as an immune booster!
Watch this video to get a better understanding of how AstraGin works:
As several gastrointestinal disorders arise, digestive enzymes are rising in popularity. Digestive enzymes help your body break down the three major macronutrients: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
If you lack a specific sufficient amount of a specific enzyme, let’s say lactase for example, then any time you ingest a large dose of lactose from dairy products, it can wreak havoc on your digestive system. Furthermore, if you cannot breakdown the macronutrients properly, then it significantly reduces your ability to absorb the nutrients. Therefore, Morphodrive includes a full spectrum of digestive enzymes that specifically metabolize various carbohydrates.
Here’s a brief summary of each one included and what molecule is acts upon:
Alpha-Galactosidase – 150 GaIU: stachyose and raffinose, which are found in beans.
Amylase – 1000 SKB: starches, such as potatoes, rice, and grains.
Cellulase – 500 CU: cellulose, which are present in the cell walls of plants.
Glucoamylase – 20 AGU: works synergistically with amylase to break down starches.
Invertase – 101 SU: sucrose (table sugar)
Lactase – 200 ALU: lactose, which is a sugar present in dairy products.
Maltase – 126 DP: maltose, also known as malt sugar
Pectinase – 10 PGU: pectin, which is naturally found in the cell walls of vegetables and fruits.
Xylanase – 150 XU: helps digest carbohydrates from oats, barely, and wheat.
We weren’t kidding when we said that Ben from Morphogen stacks his products with everything you need, and Morphodrive is a great example of that! It’s very rare to find this comprehensive of a digestive enzyme blend in a supplement that already contains several other beneficial ingredients! This is one of the reasons why Morphogen stands out and continues to gain popularity within a somewhat saturated market.
