Optimum Nutrition is a monster company whose protein is their flagship product. It’s the first whey protein that emphasized putting whey protein isolate as the first ingredient instead of just whey protein concentrate. The result is less side effects due to less lactose and other impurities that are filtered out from isolates.
Can ON keep up with the taste?
The problem is that 100% Whey has been out practically forever, and since it was released, flavor systems and technology have vastly improved. Newer products and competitors are slowly nipping at ON’s heels.
So ON constantly needs to respond, and their chocolate peanut butter flavor is one such response. We put it to the test at the Big Tex Gym in Austin:
Mike and CJ’s Review of 100% Whey Chocolate Peanut Butter
Taste: 9/10 – Not too much, not too little. Watch the video – we love it and CJ doesn’t want to share
Texture: 10/10 – This is exactly the thickness (at 7oz/scoop) and mixability that I want in a protein!!!!
Profile: 9/10 – Could use 1-2 less carbs, but both cocoa and peanut butter bring em, so let’s be realistic.
Overall Value: 9/10 – There’s cheaper proteins, but there’s also way more expensive proteins. And you know you’re in good hands with Optimum Nutrition (owned by Glanbia).

The Ingredient Profile
In each scoop:
- 120 Calories
- 24g protein (from Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptides)
- 4g carbs (2g sugar, no fiber listed?)
- 1g fat, 0.5g saturated. This is impressive for a chocolate peanut butter product
