It’s the end of October, but PEScience is already gearing up for winter with the return of their limited edition Peppermint Bark Select Protein. In case you’re not familiar with PEScience’s protein powder lineup, here’s what you need to know.
PEScience has three protein powders:
- Select Protein: their flagship protein powder features a whey/casein blend for a sustained release of amino acids
- Select Vegan: a naturally flavored vegan protein powder with a combination of pea and brown rice protein that yields a complete amino acid profile.
- Select Smart Mass: a versatile mass gainer with 40 grams of protein from a whey/casein blend, along with 60 grams of low-glycemic carbohydrates.
Select Protein comes in several gourmet flavors, such as Cake Pop, Chocolate Frosted Cupcake, and Chocolate Mint Cookie. PEScience was one of the first brands to combine whey and milk protein isolate (80% casein and 20% whey) to achieve a sustained-release protein blend.
Select Protein’s fast-digesting whey quickly increases muscle protein synthesis levels. Casein, from milk protein isolate, keeps them elevated longer. PEScience posts third-party test results verifying that the protein content meets label claims. Learn more at PEScience MySelect.
Peppermint Bark Select Protein: On Sale Until it’s Gone!
Just this week, PEScience sent out an email to their loyal customers announcing that they’re bringing back limited-edition Peppermint Bark Select Protein. They also had a product release around this same time last year, only the supplement was called White Chocolate Mint. We believe the while flavor systems are the same, they just swapped out the old name for something a little more festive.
Mike Roberto, CEO and founder of PricePlow, reviewed White Chocolate Mint in 2019 and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth, rich, and sweet it was. While the minty aroma was intense, the actual mint flavor was not at all overwhelming.
If you want to get your hands on Peppermint Bark Select Protein, act fast because we’re told that PEScience is only doing one batch this year. Because they only release limited-edition flavors once or twice a year, they typically sell out within a few days. As always, you can use code PricePlow to save 15% off all PEScience supplements.

The PEScience Difference
A few years ago “amino-spiking” was a major problem in the sports supplement industry. Amino-spiking is a term for when companies add cheap amino acids to protein powders and count them as part of the product’s total protein content, such as taurine and glycine. This means that a protein powder could contain only 12 grams of complete protein, but the company claims on the label that it has 25 grams, because they count the filler amino acids towards the total protein.
Although amino-spiking isn’t as common today, a random test of protein powders will surely identify products that fail to meet their own label claims and may even contain a higher-than-acceptable amount of heavy metals. Fortunately, consumers don’t have to worry about that with PEScience. For the purpose of transparency, the company started a testing program. PEScience analyzes every lot of protein powder manufactured to verify that it contains 24 grams of protein per serving and that it also stays below the heavy metal allowance.
Consumers can see results for themselves by going to PEScience MySelect and matching the lot number on the bottle. PricePlow doesn’t just review products, we’re also consumers, so we appreciate that PEScience is serious about quality and transparency.
