NutraBio Classic Whey Pumpkin Pie: So Good It’s Scary!

NutraBio Logo

NutraBio is the industry leader in quality and transparency and has been for quite some time.

Fall is officially upon us, which means the temperature is dropping, the leaves are falling, and the pumpkins are harvesting. To celebrate the arrival of autumn, NutraBio is releasing a limited-edition flavor of Classic Whey — Pumpkin Pie! If you’re a NutraBio protein connoisseur, then you already know that they do this every year. However, since it is a limited supply, the flavor tends to sell out fast. So act quickly if you want to get the classic pumpkin pie flavor without any of the guilt!

Just imagine… a creamy protein shake that tastes like fresh-baked pumpkin pie, packed with 25 grams of protein and only 130 calories. It may sound like a dream, but somehow, Mike Perez, NutraBio’s flavor scientist, pulls it off. If there are two things that NutraBio is known for, it’s creating the highest quality supplements without compromise.

NutraBio’s Limited Edition Flavor Launches Continues with Pumpkin Pie!

NutraBio Classic Whey Pumpkin Pie is so good, it’s scary!

Throughout 2020, NutraBio has really ramped up their limited edition flavor releases. It all started with the launch of Classic Whey Irish Whiskey Cream back in March to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. Shortly after, for Independence Day, NutraBio released “Freedom Flavors,” which included Miss American Pie (apple pie) and Bombs Away (cherry candy) in Nutrabio’s 100% Whey Protein Isolate, along with Freedom Fetti (confetti cake) in Muscle Matrix.

Along with limited-edition flavors, NutraBio has also been rolling out some custom labels for each launch. Classic Whey Pumpkin Pie will have a Halloween-inspired label, which NutraBio has never done before.

Normally, NutraBio releases this flavor every year, but there’s no guarantee that it will return. Not to mention, it’s one of Mike Roberto’s, CEO of PricePlow, favorite flavor releases of all time, which says a lot considering how many phenomenal flavors NutraBio has released over the years.

Whey Protein Isolate vs Whey Protein Concentrate

In case you’re not familiar with Classic Whey, let us explain why this protein powder is one of NutraBio’s best sellers. There are two primary types of whey protein powder on the market — whey protein isolate (WPI) and whey protein concentrate (WPC). Whey protein isolate is at least 90% protein by weight, which means only ~10% is a combination of fat and carbohydrates.

NutraBio WPI Classic Whey

NutraBio offers a wide selection of high-quality protein powders, from isolates to concentrates!

Whey protein isolate undergoes additional processing that WPC doesn’t, so although it contains more protein by weight, it also loses some of the other beneficial nutrients that whey protein has to offer, such as vitamins, minerals, and immunoglobulins, which support your immune system.

Whey protein concentrate on the other hand can be anywhere from 34% to 80% protein by weight, with the remaining being made up of carbohydrates and fats. However, WPC is less processed than WPI, thus it retains the beneficial nutrients that WPI is lacking. Furthermore, many consumers prefer the taste and texture that WPC offers, but it contains a bit of lactose, which not everyone can tolerate.

The extra gram or two of carbohydrates and fats adds an incredible amount of creaminess and texture to the powder. Whey protein isolates tend to be more watery and lack flavor, however, some may prefer that instead.

The Classic Whey Difference

Whey protein concentrates tend to get a bad rap in the supplement industry, and for a good reason. The majority of protein powders that list whey protein concentrate on the label don’t indicate what percentage they are using (e.g WPC80, WPC34).

NutraBio Classic Whey Athlete

The classic whey difference: NutraBio only uses WPC80.

Moreover, many companies are known for using low-quality WPC powders that may taste great but are loaded with fat, carbohydrates, and lactose. For example, if you buy a protein powder that uses WPC34, only 34% of the powder is protein and the rest is made up of carbohydrates, fats, and fillers. Companies will do this because it’s much cheaper than using a premium WPC80.

NutraBio, on the other hand, is one of the few brands that only use WPC80 and lists the exact amount on the label. If that’s not good enough, NutraBio also lists exact dosages for every ingredient in the protein powder, even the flavoring system!

NutraBio is known for being fully transparent and you can even see the third-party test results on to see if what’s on the label is actually in the bottle! PricePlow isn’t against whey protein concentrate by any means, but we do recommend getting one that says WPC80 on the label to ensure quality.

NutraBio offers four types of protein powders formulated for consumers’ different needs and preferences:

  • 100% Whey Protein Isolate: made with only whey protein isolate
  • Classic Whey: made with only whey protein concentrate 80%
  • Muscle Matrix: a blend of whey protein isolate and micellar casein
  • Micellar Casein: made with only micellar casein

Keep in mind that Classic Whey does contain a small amount of lactose. So if you’re lactose intolerant, steer clear and opt for 100% Whey Protein Isolate instead. Otherwise, Classic Whey will offer more flavor and creaminess, which is why NutraBio uses it for several dessert-themed flavors, such as Pumpkin Pie, Banana Cream pie, and Strawberry Shortcake.

After releasing three new flavors and a new supplement in July, NutraBio took a break from product launches in August and September. However, they used that time wisely to create even more flavors and supplements that we’ve never seen before. PricePlow’s very own Ben Kane has been working closely with Mark Glazier, CEO of NutraBio, to create a new line of products that are geared toward more experienced sports nutrition consumers.

We’ve already been teasing some of the supplements on our social media, such as the glucose disposal agent, thermogenic, and pump product. PricePlow is honored to be a part of this new supplement line and we can’t wait to show you the formulas. All we can say for now is that every product will be made with the highest quality ingredients and use only clinically studied dosages.

The launch of Classic Whey Pumpkin Pie is just the revival of many more releases to come before the end of the year and we couldn’t be more excited.
