Dymatize ISO-100 is a pure whey protein isolate, which means that it is one of the highest-quality types of protein shakes available on the market.

What are Whey Protein Isolates?

Whey protein isolates like ISO-100 are filtered so well that there are no milk sugars (lactose), carbs, fats, or impurities in the product. I purchased this product because summertime was beginning, and it was time to start cutting down on unnecessary carbs that my other protein shakes had. ISO-100 Gourmet Berry flavor is a zero-carb product, as you can see on the ISO-100 Nutrition Label. By taking a zero-carb product, I was able to drop more fat, as higher carbohydrate intakes lead to insulin spikes, which then lead to fat storage.

As you can see in the second image, ISO-100 is actually a relatively white powder. Like other whey protein isolates, it is a very fine powder, and requires very little water to mix.

How Does Dymatize ISO-100 Taste?

In this review, I mixed 5oz of water and one ice cube with one scoop of Dymatize ISO-100, but you could probably get a better, thicker consistency with 4oz of water. You can see that despite the white protein powder, it turns pink in color when mixed in liquid. The powder itself smells similar to other strawberry flavored powders I’ve tried in the past, which concerned me because I was not a fan of those. However, the taste of ISO-100 is absolutely wonderful considering that there is no sugar, carbs, or fat in ISO-100. Gourmet Berry lives up to its name! The flavor is not exactly like berries, and has a touch of that ‘artificial’ flavor, but it’s not at all over the top.

What is the Consistency of Dymatize ISO-100?

As I was keeping carbs down, I did not ever try mixing this product with milk, but I believe that it would taste phenomenal with milk. Even with water, a perfect amount of foam was made in the shaker – definitely not too much to be annoying. To me, this means that it is a quality protein. You can also see in this picture and the next, that there is very little ISO-100 residue that sticks to the walls of the shaker. It seems that there are some “flavor crystals” left behind, but cleanup is incredibly easy.

Is Dymatize ISO-100 a Good Value?

Overall, Dymatize ISO-100 is a pretty good deal, ranking relatively well on our “grams of protein per dollar” price comparison chart, while tasting absolutely great despite no sugar. Most whey protein isolate shakes that have more grams of protein per dollar also have carbs in them, so this is one of the best zero-carb products.

When Should I Take Dymatize ISO-100?

I recommend taking this protein shake after weightlifting and cardio workouts and for quick snacks. If you have a sweet tooth and are trying to cut sugars, ISO-100 is the way to go. I am now out of ISO-100, and definitely miss it. I will be a repeat buyer, and I’ve had my fair share of proteins.
