If there’s one thing PEScience is known for, it’s incredible tasting protein products. Ever since they launched their highly-rated protein powder, Select Protein, they’ve been on the hunt to expand the line. In 2017, they released Protein4Oats, which is a very underrated product that deserves much more recognition. We all know most protein powders do not mix well with oatmeal, therefore PEScience’s goal was to solve that problem once and for all. And it’s a bit of an understatement to say they completely crushed it!
Select Protein4Oats: Incredible Taste, Mixability, and New Flavor!
Not only does Protein4Oats taste great, they take plain old oatmeal to the next level by adding 15g of protein per serving. So far Mike has tried the original three flavors: Maple and Brown Sugar, Apples Cinnamon, and Peanut Butter and Honey. These are classic oatmeal flavors and Mike really enjoyed them all! With all the success Protein4Oats was experiencing, PEScience decided it was time to release more flavors! Late in 2019, Vanilla Select Protein4Oats came onto the scene, and now Strawberries & Cream is here to add to the line-up!

Select Protein4Oats Strawberries & Cream Macronutrients
Based on the history of the previous flavors, we’re confident this will be one of the best oatmeal additions you can buy! It even has real freeze dried strawberries in it so you know it’s going to be good.
This protein is designed to be mixed oats, that’s why PEScience includes two nutrition panels, to make it easier for you to track the calories and macronutrients. It’s generally recommended to use 1/2 cup / 40g old fashioned oats per serving of Protein4Oats, but you can adjust accordingly!
The macros and calories listed below are only for the protein powder to keep things simple.
One serving (21.5g) of Strawberries & Cream Select Protein4Oats provides:
- Calories: 80
- Protein: 15g
- Fat: 1g
- Carbohydrate: 2g
- Sugar: 2g
Those macros are to be added on top of your oatmeal’s macros, and are a great way to balance the high-carb oats with some extra protein! It’s incredible how much flavor this product packs in so few calories, not to mention it turns your oatmeal into a protein rich meal!
Ingredients: Select Protein Powder with Some Added Features
Protein4Oats is not just Select Protein but with different flavors, it has a few key additions that make it perfect for oatmeal!
It starts out with the same protein blend found in Select Protein, comprised of Milk Protein Isolate (80% casein, 20% whey) followed by Whey Protein Concentrate 80% (WPC80). Two very solid sources of protein that have very little sugar, carbs, or fats! One of the reasons why this blend of proteins is great for oatmeal is because the casein in the Milk Protein Isolate adds extra thickness and creaminess to the mix. If you had only whey protein, it would thin out the oats and just make a watery soup.
Next comes a few ingredients that really make the flavor come to life: Natural Flavors, Salt, Freeze Dried Strawberries, and Sweeteners (sucralose and acesulfame potassium). This flavor blend ensures the sugar content stays low, but still tastes just as sweet. Due to the casein, there is no need to add any thickeners! This helps keep all of PEScience’s proteins high on the protein-by-weight percent scale.
A Little Extra Salt Goes A Long Way!
If you compare Strawberries & Cream Protein4Oats to the Strawberry Cheesecake Select Protein, you’ll notice the sodium content is nearly identical (240mg in Select vs 220mg in Protein4Oats).
However, the serving size of Protein4Oats is smaller than the Select Protein (21.5g vs 32.5g). Thus based on the serving size, Protein4Oats has more sodium, but that’s just one component that goes a long way when adding this product to oats. The flavor scientists over at PEScience really know their stuff and with each new flavor they prove that time and time again.
