Muscle Matrix MRP Ingredients

NutraBio’s newest protein powder is a complete meal replacement, and uses the precise 40/40/20 protein/carbs/fat macro ratio advocated in their 90 day challenge protocol. This gives you a perfect balance of protein, carbs, and fats to give your body the fuel it needs to perform at its max for the duration of the challenge.

As always, NutraBio includes a fully disclosed label — even down to the flavoring and thickeners!

  • Whey Protein Isolate (14.6g)

    NutraBio Muscle Matrix MRP Label

Muscle Matrix MRP contains whey and casein in a 1:1 ratio to provide the perfect balance between satiety, taste, texture, and amino acid release.

Finally, an MRP that doesn’t have cheap whey concentrate!

NutraBio uses a high quality WPI-90 isolate, meaning you get 14.6g of 90% pure whey protein with very little in the way of carbs or fats. Whey protein isolate (WPI) is a more refined form of whey protein concentrate processed to remove all carbs (lactose) and fats from the concentrate powder.[1]

Isolates are extremely fast digesting, so this gives you the quick hit of amino acids your muscles need after a particularly tough workout, but we’re halfway done with our protein combo.

This is great for any lactose-sensitive user — nearly every MRP uses the cheap whey concentrate that we simply can’t eat.

  • Micellar Casein (14.6g)

To balance the rapid digestion of whey isolate, NutraBio has also included an equivalent amount of the super slow digesting micellar casein. This protein is also derived from milk, and accounts for 80% of protein found in it.

Having an equal ratio of whey to casein provides not only a sustained release of amino acids to the body, but also gives a great texture to the protein as well as providing increased satiety.[2]

Note that above, we didn’t say this is for lactose intolerant users – reason being is that micellar casein does provide a touch of lactose itself. Casein usually doesn’t have enough lactose to trigger those of us that are sensitive, but if you’re flat-out intolerant, you may need to tread carefully or add a lactase pill.

  • Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin (16g)

    NutraBio 90 Day Challenge

Muscle Matrix MRP is the perfect complement to the hard training and rigorous dieting you’ll do while on NutraBio’s 90 Day Challenge.

With your protein needs taken care of, now you need to focus on getting in some quality carbs to replenish depleted glycogen stores. Frequently, MRPs and mass gainer proteins use maltodextrin or waxy maize as the carb source. While these are ok, often times, this leaves users feeling heavy and sluggish.

To get around the lethargy associated with carb supplements, NutraBio includes 16g of Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin (HBCD). HBCD is a derived from a type of sugar found in plants called amylopectin.

HBCD has a higher molecular weight and lower osmolality than either maltodextrin or waxy maize[3], meaning it doesn’t sit around for a long time in your stomach. Rather, it’s rapidly digested and then absorbed and transported to your muscles, where it can get to work replenish your depleted glycogen levels.

  • MCT Powder (9g)

Muscle Matrix MRP includes Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) as its source of healthy fats. MCT is a unique form of fatty acid that’s processed by the body differently than any other type of fat.

Rather than store it as fat, MCTs are always burned immediately for energy as if it was a carbohydrate! The MCT powder contained here is derived from coconut oil. The best thing about MCTs is that, they’ve been shown to help suppress appetite and improve weight loss.[4]

  • Fiber Matrix (4.4g)

No meal is complete without a healthy helping of fiber. Not only does it help fill you up, but it also helps “clean” things out by keeping you regular. Muscle Matrix MRP uses Fibersol-2 as the foundation of its Fiber Matrix.

Fibersol-2 is a type of digestion-resistant fiber derived from corn often used as a low-calorie bulking agent.[5] It contains 90% dietary fiber and is widely used in a number of pre-packaged foods to up the fiber content without altering the taste or texture.

The good news is the quality of ingredients. There are too many meal replacements that use all cheap protein concentrate (which gives us gas), cheap carbs that are basically sugar, and no fiber. Muscle Matrix MRP is the exact opposite here.

The bad news here is that we don’t have a fruit/vegetable/antioxidant/greens blend, so you still need to keep your fruit and veggie intake high with 4-5 servings elsewhere in your day. However, NutraBio not using a greens blend will definitely for a better-tasting MRP, and only a few competitors use them in decent doses.

If you’re serious about the macronutrients in your diet, Muscle Matrix MRP is an ideal choice that gives users a great blend of proteins, carbs, and fats the fills you up with everything you need and nothing you don’t.
