Dylan’s Select Apple Cider Protein Donut Recipe

Apple Cider Protein Donuts

Our debut of Dylan’s recipes, featuring PEScience Select Protein!

Today we’re starting a new protein recipe series brought to us by Dylan Madigan, who can be found on Instagram under the name @driven2lift. This series will also be featuring PEScience’s Select Protein line, one of our favorite whey supplements and a product line with flavors well-suited to baking up all manner of treats.

We do love pumpkin for its natural complex carb sweetness and healthy fiber content, but we’ve been kinda working the hell out of it and the season is winding down. This time out we’re taking a look at another seasonal fruit — apples! Not only that, we’re giving you a healthy alternative to one of the world’s greatest temptations and most notorious diet busters — donuts!

Ingredients
Servings: Donuts
Units:
Instructions
  1. Reduce the apple cider down to half a cup, by heating it in a saucepan over medium heat for 5-10 minutes (this improves the flavor)
  2. In a large bowl mix together your yogurt, Splenda, vanilla, and eggs
  3. In a medium bowl whisk together all of the dry donut ingredients until mixed
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, a quarter at a time and mix until combined, refrigerate this dough mix for 10 minutes
  5. Preheat oven to 400 while waiting, grease your donut pan
  6. Fill your donut pan with the dough about 2/3 full
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, let them cool
  8. Optional -- blend the following Apple Cider Glaze ingredients if you're bulking and good with an extra 20 carbs (per donut): 1/2 cup Apple Cider, 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, 1/2 cup Splenda, 1/2 cup Icing.
Recipe Notes

As noted, the glaze is optional and can be skipped to reduce carb content if that's better for your macros. As far as carbs go, you can also try an oat or coconut flour as an alternative, but we have not tested the results :)

The macros do NOT include the optional icing, which will add about 20 carbs per donut!

Dylan’s stuff leans a little more complex than some of the other protein recipes we’ve been posting, as you’ve now seen from this first recipe. But the extra prep time and work is so worth it … as you’ll also see from this first recipe!

You’ll want the Blondie variety of Select Protein for this one. Use coupon code Driven if buying at PEScience.com to save 30% on your purchase!
