PWR Burn: Capsule-Based Fat Burner
One thing we love about PWR Burn is that it’s heavy on ingredients that increase the production or metabolic activity of brown adipose tissue (BAT), which in our opinion is the best strategy for maximizing fat burning through supplementation.
We love seeing iodine in fat-burning formulas, since iodine intake and thyroid function tend to suffer whenever calories, or certain foods, are restricted – especially in combination with intense exercise. The inclusion of iodine from kelp marks out PWR Burn as a formula geared towards the disciplined consumer, who’s got the fundamentals of weight loss in place and simply wants to speed up the process of burning through stored fat.
The inclusion of a safe diuretic in the form of dandelion powder is smart – after all, people usually want to cut in order to achieve the lean shredded look that excess water retention can prevent.
Additionally, we appreciate the use of naturally-sourced caffeine, as opposed to the synthetic stuff, which in our opinion is plagued with purity issues and likely not bioidentical. And finally, if you like a bit of extra stimulation, you’ll be impressed at the added Advantra Z, which supplies a good bit of synephrine.
Klout PWR Burn Ingredients
Here’s what a single 3 capsule serving of PWR Burn from Klout gets you:
- Green Coffee Bean Extract (50% Chlorogenic Acid) – 500 mg: this is an extract of green coffee beans, i.e. raw, unroasted coffee beans, that’s standardized for the polyphenol antioxidant chlorogenic acid (CGA). CGA is anti-inflammatory, anti-obesogenic, and anti-diabetic. It can block the absorption of dietary fat and carbohydrates while speeding up fat and cholesterol metabolism, and facilitate the burning of stored fatty acids.
- Caffeine Anhydrous Natural (from Tea) – 300 mg: caffeine is famed for its ability to fight fatigue and promote wakefulness. In the context of a fat-burning formula, caffeine helps by turning up cAMP and AMPK, two pathways that control the rate at which your cells burn calories for energy. It’s especially good at increasing their rate of fat burning. Caffeine also increases the metabolic activity of brown adipose tissue (BAT).
- Dandelion Root Powder – 300 mg: this one won’t help you burn fat per se, but will help you achieve a leaner, more shredded look through its diuretic (water-eliminating) effects. Unlike most diuretics, dandelion root powder has little to no effect on your body’s electrolyte balance, making it one of the safer choices in this category.
- White Willow Bark Extract – 150 mg: standardized for salicin, an aspirin precursor. Salicin is powerfully anti-inflammatory, which can help with weight management. It can also reduce blood glucose, increase insulin sensitivity, and improve hormone balance through mild aromatase inhibition.
- Theobromine – 150 mg: much like caffeine, theobromine can upregulate cAMP and AMPK, thus turning up the rate of cellular metabolism. However, theobromine doesn’t have as much of a stimulant effect on the central nervous system, and promotes vasodilation instead of vasoconstriction. In fact, theobromine can cancel out caffeine’s effects on heart rate and blood pressure when these two ingredients are taken in combination.
- Advanta Z [Citrus Aurantium (fruit) Std. 50% p-Synephrine] – 100 mg: synephrine helps you burn fat by activating beta-3 adrenergic receptors. This in turn upregulates cAMP within your fat tissue, leading to increased fat and glucose burning to the tune of ~200 calories a day. Synephrine has synergistic fat-burning effects when taken with caffeine.
- Atlantic Kelp Powder (yielding 225 mcg Iodine 150% DV) – 56 mg: iodine is needed for proper thyroid function, which is absolutely essential for maintaining a healthy body composition. We like seeing thyroid support in fat burner supplements because the two major weight-loss behaviors – caloric restriction and exercising – can strain the thyroid if not managed properly.
- CaloriBurn (Grains of Paradise Seed Extract 6-Paradol 12.5%) – 15 mg: grains of paradise is a close relative of the ginger plant, and contains a bioactive constituent called 6-paradol that increases the metabolic activity of brown adipose tissue (BAT). Since BAT converts calories into heat, a process called thermogenesis, this leads to a faster calorie burn.
- Black Pepper Extract – 10 mg: black pepper contains piperine, an alkaloid that can improve the bioavailability of other ingredients. It can also help improve liver health, and insulin sensitivity by upregulating glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4).
- GBBGO (Gamma-butyrobetaine hydrochloride) – 7.5 mg: gamma-butyrobetaine (GBB) is a carnitine precursor, which is great for weight loss since carnitine is responsible for shuttling fatty acids into your cells so that mitochondria can burn them for energy. GBB can also increase your daily calorie burn by upregulating brown adipose tissue (BAT).
- Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) – 0.50 mg: vitamin B12 is involved in many important metabolic processes, including needed for homocysteine metabolism, cognitive function, and red blood cell formation. When taken in large doses, it can act as a methyl donor.

Klout Aminos
Next up we have Aminos, Klout’s EAA and hydration supplement.
Our advice, if you want to use this supplement as strategically as possible, would be to take it as an intra-workout – this would naturally help mitigate exercise-induced muscle damage, thus potentially speeding up recovery. It’s also great for maintaining hydration during your workout.
To understand why an EAA is preferable to just BCAAs, we’ll get into a short discussion of each amino’s unique role in human metabolism.
Klout Aminos Ingredients
A single 1 scoop (9.7 gram) serving of Klout Aminos gets you the following:
- BCAA 2:1:1 (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) – 5,000 mg: the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) have anabolic effects. Leucine is the most anabolic, which is why there’s twice as much of it in this blend as there is of isoleucine and valine. The mechanism of action is mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) activation.
- L-Lysine – 750 mg: an important carnitine precursor, with significant anabolic effects. It’s crucial for the proper absorption of calcium and for collagen production. It also helps your body deposit calcium in the proper tissues – sort of like vitamin K2 does.
- L-Threonine – 650 mg: A glycine precursor with anti-obesogenic effects. It positively affects blood lipids and helps maximize muscle growth. Also helps improve your body’s uptake of leucine, making it a great amino to stack with BCAAs.
- Coconut Water Powder – 250 mg: coconut water is a great source of electrolyte minerals, meaning it can help sustain intense workouts.
- Aquamin Soluble – 200 mg (as Seaweed derived calcium and magnesium, citric acid, malic acid): Aquamin is another great source of electrolytes, plus trace minerals like boron and manganese that are essential for proper hormonal balance.
- L-Phenylalanine – 125 mg: much like threonine, helps improve leucine uptake. Also a precursor to tyrosine and phenylethylamine (PEA), an endogenous stimulant molecule that triggers massive catecholamine release. Since phenylalanine can be depleted by exercise, it’s good to see in an aminos formula.
- L-Histidine HCl – 100 mg: one of two precursors to carnosine, a molecule that your muscles use to buffer and eliminate lactic acid. Animal studies show that supplemental histidine can increase the rate of muscle protein synthesis above baseline.
- L-Tryptophan – 50 mg: important serotonin and melatonin precursor, so it can help with mood and sleep. Don’t worry, it won’t make you drowsy!
- L-Methionine – 25 mg: a potent antioxidant that gets converted into taurine and cysteine. It’s also needed for carnitine production – research shows that serum methionine levels correlate with serum carnitine levels.
Flavors available
Klout Aminos will be released in four delicious flavors: Berry Snowcone, Pink Lemonade, Sour Melon, and Tropical Sunshine.

PWR Off: Klout’s Sleep Aid
Last but certainly not least, we have PWR Off, which is in our opinion the most exciting of the three formulas unveiled today.
Klout really hit it out of the park with this one: they started with the tried-and-true ZMA (zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B6) stack as a foundation, and built something awesome on top of it.
Every ingredient here has tons of research backing when it comes to improving sleep quality, and there are multiple synergistic effects going on within this ingredient list. Plus, the doses are awesome.
The only caveat is there’s quite a lot of melatonin here – which is not a problem for most, but melatonin-sensitive consumers may wish to consider it.
We’re especially excited to see ornithine, which in our opinion is underrated and under-utilized not just as a sleep aid but in general.
Klout PWR Off Ingredients
A single 1 scoop (11.04 gram) serving of PWR Off from Klout gets you the following:
- Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate) – 15 mg (750% DV): Vitamin B6 is important for the synthesis of GABA, tryptophan, and serotonin, all of which are crucial for good sleep duration and quality. Vitamin B6 has also been reported to create vivid dreams, which may or may not be a good thing for any given user.
- Magnesium (as Magnesium Bisglycinate, Magnesium Oxide, and Magnesium Citrate) – 158 mg (39% DV): many studies have shown that taking magnesium can significantly improve the duration and quality of sleep. Magnesium deficiency is increasingly common, and can manifest as high cortisol, anxiety, and chronic fatigue – the exact issues most people are hoping to avoid or solve through improving sleep.
- Zinc (as Zinc Gluconate) – 28 mg (186% DV): some research has found that the combination of zinc and magnesium has synergistic effects on sleep quality, but the mechanism is unclear. Supplemental zinc can shorten sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep) and improve sleep efficiency (the ratio of the time you actually spend asleep to the time you spend in bed).
- L-Glycine – 3,000 mg: studies consistently find that glycine supplements shorten the time it takes to fall asleep, improve self-reported sleep satisfaction, decrease nighttime awakenings, and improve cognitive performance the morning after. This is probably thanks to its GABAergic, neuron-calming properties.
- GABA (as Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) – 1,500 mg: GABA is one of the circadian rhythm’s primary neurotransmitters. It’s been shown to facilitate sleep onset and increase the production of growth hormone, whose anabolic and regenerative effects are a big part of restful sleep’s health benefits.
- L-Ornithine – 500 mg: ornithine plays an important role in the urea cycle, which is your body’s mechanism for removing the toxic metabolic waste product ammonia. Since high ammonia levels can interfere with sleep, this is a potential boon for sleep quality, as is ornithine’s ability to upregulate growth hormone (GH) and the neurosteroid dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Ornithine supplements have been shown to improve the serum DHEA-to-cortisol ratio.
- L-Theanine – 300 mg: L-theanine supplementation can increase the concentration of serotonin, dopamine GABA in your brain, all of which have the potential to positively impact sleep quality. Theanine itself also has GABAergic effects. Theanine can improve sleep quality by mitigating the unwanted side effects of caffeine – research shows the combination of supplemental theanine and supplemental GABA can reverse caffeine-induced sleep deficits in animals.
- Zinc Gluconate – 220 mg: Zinc is involved in the production of enzymes that help to convert tryptophan to serotonin and melatonin, which are important for sleep quality and a proper circadian rhythm. Don’t be alarmed by the seemingly big dose here – 220 mg of zinc gluconate yields 28 mg zinc (186% DV), which is physiologically appropriate.
- Celery Seed Extract – 25 mg: Celery seed extract has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and to improve blood flow, which may contribute to improved sleep quality. This is thanks to its high content of apigenin, which has GABAergic effects thanks to its affinity for the GABA-A receptor and benzodiazepine receptors.
- Melatonin Rapid Release – 2.5 mg: supplementing with melatonin, a hormone produced by your brain’s pineal gland, has been shown to regulate the circadian rhythm, decrease sleep onset latency, increase total sleep time, and improve sleep quality. Note that because of melatonin’s role in establishing the circadian rhythm, it’s not advisable to take melatonin supplements at a time of day when you do not plan to regularly sleep.
- Melatonin Extended Release – 2.5 mg: combining rapid release melatonin with extended release melatonin gives you the best of both worlds: an immediate surge in serum melatonin to help you fall asleep, plus a sustained elevation from the extended release to help you remain asleep throughout the night.

Conclusion: Klout’s Coming for 2023
Now that we’ve revealed the juicy details of these new releases, you can probably see why we were so excited about Klout when doing the industry awards last year – these guys can formulate, and brought their A-game – especially with the fat burner and sleep aid.
You can go back and read the previous article titled KLOUT Sets to Release Onslaught of New Supplements – but that’s mostly about the pre-workout offerings. Today, we got to take a look behind the curtain at some of their other products, and we’re just as impressed. Despite what some may think, it’s not just about stimulant-based pre-workouts, after all! And Klout understands that with not only their epic branding, but their 2023 offerings as well.
