Besides protein powder, the only other sports supplement that has really attained “standard” status is creatine. Creatine is classic.
This is for good reason: creatine works. It has an avalanche of scientific evidence and research backing its efficacy in promoting everything from muscle growth to cognitive function.
Because it’s so proliferated, it can be difficult for brands to differentiate their creatine products, but they all pretty much have to have an offering. Animal has found a way to set their creatine products apart with Animal Creatine Chews, one of our favorite creatine formats that we’ve tried.
We wrote about Creatine Chews last year (see the article linked above), but now Animal has a new flavor for those who prefer to bite into something with a bit more zing: Green Apple.
Green Apple Animal Creatine Chews are Here!
Unflavored creatine powder is great as a simple addition to any number of drinks. But if you don’t have anything overpowering to mix it with, it can leave an unpleasant, gritty texture. And most of us already have enough capsules in our day (especially if using Animal Pak).
Creatine Chews are perfect for those times when you need to get your 5 grams of creatine in, but don’t have a rich drink to mix it with. Just pop a few delicious, green apple flavored chews and you’re good to go.
We’re going to dive into a little summary on Creatine Chews, but first, let’s check the PricePlow for good Universal Nutrition deals, and check out our video review of the new flavor:

Universal Animal Creatine Chews – How It Works
In every 4 chewable serving of Animal Creatine Chews you get:
-
Creatine Monohydrate (5 grams)
Creatine monohydrate is the most well-researched form of creatine and is widely recommended for supplementation. When in doubt, choose creatine mono. It has numerous benefits for both physical and mental performance, including increasing power output, weight and lean mass gain, sprinting speed, cellular hydration, and reducing fatigue.
Creatine works by facilitating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, which is essential for optimal physical and mental performance.
The recommended dose of creatine for supplementation is 5 grams per day (the dose contained in each serving of Creatine Chews), although larger and more active individuals may require more. The standard practice is to begin with a loading phase of 20 grams daily for 5 to 7 days, but 5 grams daily is sufficient for most individuals.
Smaller individuals, or those who are already at creatine saturation, can often get away with 3 grams daily, and you can come close to accomplishing this by alternating two and three chews every other day.
-
Panax notoginseng Extract (root), Astragalus membranaceus Extract (root) (AstraGin) – 25 mg
AstraGin has quickly become a standard ingredient in the industry due to its ability to increase the amount of ATP available to intestinal cells. This increase in energy allows these cells to absorb more nutrients and supplements.
Animal’s inclusion of AstraGin in their formula helps consumers maximize the value of their products, and its mechanism of action emphasizes the importance of ATP for all metabolic processes.
You can read more, with scientific references, in our main Animal Creatine Chews article.

Creatine that feels like a treat
If you’re going for purely functional results, creatine powder added straight into your Animal Primal pre-workout is great – see our full article on Animal Micronized Creatine. But plain mono is definitely a bit bland – not bad, but boring and a touch chalky. Animal Creatine XL adds a few more ingredients and with flavor.
But sometimes, you just want to bite on something. And that’s why we love these creatine chews. You get the same 5 gram dose that is backed by countless studies for its instigation of muscle growth and ATP production, plus a bit of extra AstraGin – in a satisfying chewable tablet format.
When you get into the fitness supplement world, the default is to just drink everything. That doesn’t always have to be the case, and now you have Green Apple to broaden the menu.
