Before beginning, we must disclaim that this study is currently in pre-print status and has not yet been peer-reviewed, although that process is underway. With that said, it’s from a research team that has numerous journal publications under their belt.

Purpose
The study aimed to evaluate the acute effects of two different doses of GeniusPure Alpha-GPC on cognitive function and exercise performance in healthy, resistance-trained males.

Methods
Twenty resistance-trained men (average age 31.3 years) participated in the study, which used a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover design. Each participant completed three separate trial conditions:[1]
- High-dose (HD): 630mg Alpha-GPC (delivered as 700mg of 90% GeniusPure)
- Low-dose (LD): 315mg Alpha-GPC (delivered as 350mg of 90% GeniusPure)
- Placebo (PL): Resistant dextrin
Participants were assessed for cognitive performance using the Stroop test, Flanker test, and N-Back test, along with various physical performance measures including bench press throws and vertical jumps. These tests are explained below for those who are unfamiliar, and after that we get into the results.
The Cognitive Test Methods Used
The study employed three well-validated cognitive assessments:
- Stroop Test: A foundational cognitive assessment that measures selective attention, cognitive flexibility, and processing speed.
Participants must name the color of a word while ignoring the word itself (for example, the word “RED” printed in blue ink – the correct answer would be “blue”). This test evaluates one’s ability to suppress automatic responses (reading the word) in favor of a less automatic task (naming the color).[2]
- Flanker Test: Evaluates attention and inhibitory control by measuring how well participants can focus on a central stimulus while ignoring surrounding distracting stimuli.
Participants respond to the direction of a central arrow while ignoring “flanking” arrows that may point in the same direction (congruent) or opposite direction (incongruent). This test reveals how well someone can maintain focus and filter out distractions.[3]
- N-Back Test: A sophisticated assessment of working memory where participants must indicate when a current stimulus matches one from “n” steps earlier in a sequence.
In a 1-back task, they identify if the current item matches the previous one; in a 2-back task, they match it to the item shown two steps ago. This measures both working memory capacity and information processing ability.[4,5]

Results
The study revealed several significant findings:[1]
Cognitive Performance
- Both doses improved Stroop test performance compared to placebo
- High-dose group showed 150% greater improvement in total Stroop score vs. placebo
- Low-dose group demonstrated 108% better Stroop performance vs. placebo
- Processing speed increased 140% with high dose and 50% with low dose vs. placebo
The GeniusPure groups demonstrated remarkable improvements in mental processing and attention. The high-dose (630mg) group’s 150% improvement in Stroop test performance represents a dramatic enhancement in participants’ ability to process information quickly while managing conflicting stimuli. This was complemented by the 140% increase in processing speed, suggesting that participants could not only perform the cognitive tasks better, but do them significantly faster.[1]
Even the low-dose (315mg) group showed impressive gains, with the 108% improvement in Stroop performance and 50% boost in processing speed demonstrating that even half doses of GeniusPure can deliver meaningful cognitive benefits.[1]
The fact that both dosing protocols yielded significant improvements over placebo indicates a reliable dose-response relationship, giving formulators flexibility in how they incorporate GeniusPure into their products.
Physical Performance
- High-dose significantly increased upper-body peak force production vs. placebo (p = 0.043)
- Low-dose improved lower-body peak force production compared to high-dose
- Both doses showed 2.5-10% improvements in various force and power production measures
The physical performance data revealed nuanced but important benefits across different aspects of muscular performance. In the upper body assessments, the high-dose GeniusPure group’s significant improvement in peak force production (p = 0.043)[1] suggests enhanced neuromuscular efficiency, possibly due to optimized acetylcholine availability at the neuromuscular junction. This improvement in force production could translate to better performance in strength-based activities and resistance training.
The lower body results were particularly interesting, with the low-dose group showing superior peak force production compared to the high dose. This unexpected finding suggests potential dose-dependent effects that vary by muscle group or movement pattern, but more data is always useful before making such conclusions.
The overall 2.5-10% improvements in force and power production metrics across both dosing protocols indicate that GeniusPure can enhance multiple aspects of physical performance, from explosive power to maximal force production. These improvements, while modest in percentage terms, could make meaningful differences in athletic performance where small margins often separate success from failure.
Real-World Implications: Acute Benefits
This study is particularly significant because it demonstrates acute benefits from a single dose of GeniusPure.
