Arms Race Nutrition Harness & Daily Pump Revamped with Cognizin

ARN Harness and Daily Pump w/ Cognizin®

ARN’s pre-workouts are not just getting an artwork update, but also a formula upgrade. They’ve added Cognizin® Citicoline from Kyowa Hakko, a powerful nootropic, to both formulas, delivering 250mg per serving.

We’ve been covering Arms Race Nutrition for a long time, and over the years the brand has released some wild formulas, with their original Harness pre-workout leading the way. Since then, we’ve been treated to more awesome formulas like the juiced-up Harness Evolution and Daily Pump for those looking to go the extra mile.

At the beginning of 2024, ARN decided it was a year of reinvention. With the release of their Harness RTD, the brand that had been known for its iconic “brown paper bag” packaging switched to a more modern, sleeker brand image. Throughout the year, they’ve been phasing in this look.

Now, Harness and Daily Pump will showcase the evolution — but with an extra special spin:

Harness + Daily Pump Revamped: Now Harnessing Cognizin!

Arms Race Nutrition Harness RTD

Not only are ARN’s pre-workouts getting an artwork update, but they’re getting formula updates as well. So what’s new? ARN has wisely switched to Cognizin® Citicoline to both formulas. Cognizin® is an incredibly popular nootropic ingredient from Kyowa Hakko USA — it uniquely supports brain function, and both pre-workout formulas discussed today have clinically-supported 250 milligram doses of the powerful choline source.

For those looking to get a major kick, Harness boasts a whopping 402.5 milligrams of caffeine per two scoop serving, in addition to bitter orange extract standardized for synephrine. But for those looking for the pump without the stims, Daily Pump is a great daily driver built with classic and well-known ingredients like citrulline, betaine nitrate, and pine bark extract.

We’re going to dive into a little summary on how Cognizin works in Harness and Daily Pump, but first let’s check Priceplow for some good deals:

What is Cognizin® Citicoline?

Cognizin® citicoline, sold by Kyowa Hakko, is favored by PricePlow for its significant role in promoting brain health and cognitive performance. Unlike standard choline, citicoline is a key precursor for phosphatidylcholine (PC), a vital phospholipid necessary for optimal brain function.[1] Since citicoline often determines your body’s ability to produce PC,[2] it becomes a crucial supplement for enhancing cognitive abilities.

Cognizin Citicoline: The Brain Choline

Cognizin® Citicoline is dubbed the The Brain Choline not just because it provides choline, but because it also supplies cytidine, which is also needed for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine

Cognizin® offers not just choline but also cytidine, both of which are essential for synthesizing phosphatidylcholine. Studies have demonstrated that citicoline effectively upregulates PC synthesis, with human trials showing an increase in PC metabolites after administration.[3] A daily intake of 250 mg of Cognizin, the dosage found in products like Harness and Daily Pump, has been shown to improve focus, attention, and overall brain health, making it a valuable supplement for cognitive enhancement.[4-7]

The experiential choline source

One of the standout features of citicoline is its capacity to support dopamine levels, as it enhances both dopamine synthesis[4,8,9] and receptor density,[10] leading to better focus, motivation, and cognitive function. Additionally, citicoline has neuroprotective effects on dopaminergic neurons, further contributing to brain health.[11]

Research also suggests that citicoline can elevate levels of cytidine and uridine, which are crucial for brain function.[12,13]

We’re suspecting that there are even more benefits than that, as discussed at the 2024 ISSN Convention, where we explored citicoline supplementation’s potential to spare ATP molecules for other processes in the brain. Coupled with its support of dopamine production, and we’re confident in saying that Cognizin is an experiential ingredient that feels good – even if you’re not using the caffeine!

The 2024 Harness Formula

Each 2 scoop (14.3g) serving of Harness contains the following ingredients:

ARN Hanrness Pre-Workout Ingredients

  • L-Citrulline (6000mg): Citrulline boosts nitric oxide (NO) production more effectively than arginine due to its superior bioavailability, even though it requires an additional conversion step to produce NO. Increased NO leads to vasodilation, which can lower blood pressure, improve nutrient delivery, and enhance exercise performance, endurance, and recovery, making citrulline a key ingredient in pre-workout supplements.
  • Beta Alanine (3200mg): Beta-alanine is an ergogenic aid that enhances exercise capacity by increasing carnosine levels in muscles, which helps clear lactic acid and delays fatigue, making it especially effective for high-intensity efforts; it’s more efficient to supplement beta-alanine than carnosine due to better bioavailability, and the common tingling sensation it causes is harmless.
  • L-Tyrosine (1000mg): Tyrosine is a potent anti-stress and nootropic supplement that boosts focus, motivation, and energy by serving as a precursor to catecholamine neurotransmitters and thyroid hormones, and it also helps mitigate cognitive deficits caused by sleep deprivation.
  • Caffeine Anhydrous (350mg): Caffeine is a stimulant that enhances sports performance, reaction time, and endurance by blocking adenosine receptors to reduce fatigue and increasing cellular energy production through elevated cAMP levels, with doses of 3-6 mg/kg proving effective for athletes, and additional benefits in weight management through thermogenesis.
  • ARN Daily Pump

  • VasoDrive-AP (254mg): VasoDrive-AP, derived from casein, consists of lactotripeptides that enhance vasodilation by increasing nitric oxide production and inhibiting vasoconstriction through ACE enzyme downregulation, effectively improving circulation and reducing blood pressure similarly to other NO-boosting ingredients like citrulline.
  • Cognizin® Citicoline (250mg): see above.
  • ElevATP (150mg): ElevATP is a trademarked blend that elevates extracellular ATP levels, potentially enhancing cellular energy and improving exercise performance, with studies showing increased strength and power in subjects supplementing with 150 milligrams daily.
  • Bitter Orange Extract (100mg): Bitter orange extract contains synephrine and hordenine, two bioactive alkaloids that boost fat burning by increasing metabolic rate, promoting calorie expenditure, and enhancing exercise performance, while also improving energy, motivation, and focus through neurotransmitter activity.
  • zumXR (75mg): zumXR is a secondary source of caffeine that provides a smoother, sustained energy boost.
  • Huperzia serrata Extract (10mg): Huperzine A inhibits acetylcholinesterase, prolonging the activity of acetylcholine, and can also stimulate neurogenesis, complementing alpha-GPC in enhancing cognitive function.

The 2024 Daily Pump Formula

Each 2 scoop (15g) serving of Daily Pump contains the following ingredients:

ARN Daily PUMP Ingredients

  • L-Citrulline (6000mg): see above.
  • Beta Alanine (3200mg): see above.
  • Betaine Nitrate (NO3-T) (2500mg): Betaine, also known as trimethylglycine (TMG), is a powerful ergogenic aid that improves strength, power, endurance, and body composition, while also supporting cardiovascular health by regulating homocysteine levels, with additional benefits from its nitrate form enhancing muscle pumps and performance.
  • Cognizin® Citicoline (250mg): see above.
  • Pine Bark Extract (250mg): Pine bark extracts are commonly used in pre-workouts for their vasodilatory and cardioprotective properties, thanks to their proanthocyanidins and antioxidants like catechin and epicatechin, which are well-supported by research for cardiovascular benefits.
  • AstraGin (50mg): AstraGin helps boost absorption of ingredients it is paired with.

With such great pump dosing alongside beta-alanine and Cognizin, Daily Pump is an excellent stimulant-free pre-workout that goes beyond pumps, adding the endurance and focus support as well.

However, stacking them together puts you into a whole new stratosphere of pumps, and leads to additional research support on Cognizin: there are added studies at the 500 milligram level whose doses could be realized by going all-in on both formulas.

Again, you can read about them in our main Cognizin® Citicoline article.

Cognizin®: A Great Addition

There’s a lot of discussion about what the best form of choline is. For pre-workout supplements, it’s generally going to be the one that users can feel — and that’s Cognizin®. As a precursor to phosphatidylcholine it offers a very direct route to getting your brain the tool it needs to operate at peak efficiency. At a dose of 250 milligrams, it has a lot of research backing its efficacy in improving focus and attention, but it gets even greater at 500.

Arms Race Nutrition recognizes that when you’re in the gym, you need something to bolster your mental performance in addition to your physical performance.

Cognizin is a trademarked form of choline from Kyowa Hakko USA, a company that rigorously tests and studies their ingredients, making it a safer bet for those looking for trusted ingredients that pass the stringent tests required for legal and safety compliance.
