Vote for Bodybuilding.com’s 2019 Awards!

The season is upon us – the annual Bodybuilding.com Awards! Every year, the community gets to vote on the following awards:

Bodybuilding.com 2019 Awards

Bodybuilding.com’s 2019 Awards are here… but there’s only two supplements to vote for, and they’re missing the most important one of the year? What happened here?

  1. Transformation of the Year
  2. Brand of the Year
  3. Breakout Product
  4. Top Protein
  5. Top All-Access Program
  6. Most Influential

PricePlow’s Ben Kane provides expert picks!

This is a very special year for Team PricePlow, because our very own Benjamin Kane has been selected to give some expert picks.

Unfortunately, Ben’s picks aren’t yet published, but we’ll talk about them soon on the PricePlow YouTube channel.

Why the sparse list?

What’s unique this year is that there are only two categories in the awards that are for actual supplements. Normally, we’d expect to see separate questions for things like best pre workout, best intra workout / amino acid supplement, best fat burner, and maybe even best muscle builder or test booster.

NutraBio Alpha EAA

How in the world is this not at least up for “breakout product”?

This demonstrates the transition that Bodybuilding.com has been making towards a content-driven company, showing that they’re perhaps a bit less interested in selling supplements and more interested in selling training programs.

Missing the real Breakout Product

Further, it seems that Bodybuilding.com’s team dropped the ball on a very important Breakout Product. I (Mike) personally believe this list has to contain NutraBio’s Alpha EAA, which has shaken up the intra workout category by adding nootropics and adaptogens while keeping a great flavor game alive. No offense to the products on the list (hey we love Amino Synergy just as much as the next guy), but nothing on the list comes even remotely as influential, innovative, or “breakout” as Alpha EAA. How this supplement was missed is kind of disappointing.

Maybe next year

Overall, it’s fun to discuss these awards, and there will always be complaints about them. But this year, the irony is that there isn’t much to complain about… because isn’t much to vote on! We don’t want to sift through 20 pages of entries, but a few more could have helped here. Oh well.
