LG Sciences 1-Andro: 50mg 1-DHEA (Plus Delivery)

LG Sciences 1-Andro

LG Sciences brings the power of 1-Andro and Cyclosome Delivery Technology is a prohormone supplement designed help help trim the fat and pack on lean muscle.

Regular readers of our blog have no doubt seen that prohormones are seeing a HUGE resurgence in their popularity thanks to better manufacturing practices and a superior delivery technology (i.e. Cyclosome).

LG Sciences has long been associated with the prohormone game, and now that Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals owns LG Sciences, and the addition of Hi-Tech’s Cyclosome Delivery System, they’re on a rampage.

LG Sciences 1-Andro is a 1-DHEA prohormone that contains 50mg of the compound all wrapped in Cyclosome to bring you great results with as little drawbacks as possible. This is a 1-Andro that’s well-suited for beginners to the prohormone game, given that it’s dosed lower than the higher-dosed Hi-Tech Pharma 1-Testosterone.

1-Andro Ingredients

There may not be a ton of ingredients displayed on the label, but don’t worry. 1-Andro packs A LOT of effects in a single ingredient.

  • 3b-hydroxy-5a-androst-1-en-17-one (1-Androstenolone) (50mg)

    LG Sciences 1-Andro Ingredients

1-Andro is minimal on ingredients, but its effects are maximal!

1-Andro, a.k.a. 1-Androstene-3b-ol, 17-one (and also known as 1-DHEA — it has many names), is the sole ingredient we’re dealing with here, but it does A LOT. We’ve written in-depth about 1-Andro on the blog previously, so head there for all the gory details. What follows is a synopsis of the effects with a little bit of the science.

Right out the gate, it’s important to understand that 1-Andro is a pre-prohormone. It doesn’t directly convert to a hormone like other prohormones. Rather, it goes through a two-step conversion: 1-DHEA converts to 1-Androstenediol (1AD) and then converts to 1-Testosterone, the anabolic we’re after.

That’s great and all, but what does it do?!

This may come as a surprise, but the majority of prohormones on the market today are merely hypothesized to be effective in humans. 1-DHEA however has some human trials backing its purported effects.

The landmark trial in 2013 at Texas A&M in 2013 enlisted 17 men ages 18 to 35 and had them supplement with a total of 330mg 1-DHEA per day for four weeks.[1] Subjects consumed this amount spread across three doses, each 110mg.

Although specific weight and strength increases weren’t stated, the researchers basically compared the effectiveness of 1-DHEA to that of a full-blown steroid cycle of 300mg of weekly testosterone enanthate injections!

Some highlights from the study include:

    1-Andro Results

These are some serious lean mass gains — as in TRUE steroid-like gains. But note that this is a ‘harsher’ dose than what’s in 1-AD, so don’t necessarily expect them at two or even four tablets per day. This is why we consider 1-AD a better ‘starter’ to getting your feet wet… but have realistic expectations for results

    • Significant increase in lean mass, from an estimated 74kg to an estimated 78.5kg (approximately 10 pounds of lean body mass gained)!

    • While overall mass did increase, fat mass actually decreased among the group

    • Bench, Squat, and Deadlift strength numbers ALL improved, with the biggest increases coming in the squat

Now, it’s important to note that the dosage contained in LG Sciences 1-Andro isn’t the same as that used in the study. BUT, the subjects in the study weren’t using the Cyclosome Delivery System that LG is here. The rationale is that the subjects in the trial needed a higher dose due to the poorer bioavailability of 1-DHEA.

Also note that the 50mg 1-Andro you’re getting here is similar to the 47mg 1-Andro that you’d get in Hi-Tech Pharma’s 1-AD (which has 75mg of 1-Andro ester, leading to 47mg actual 1-Andro)… so that’s another option to consider. Hi-Tech’s 1-AD is more expensive, but if you’re a dieter and want the ester for a slower release of prohormone and less hormonal “peaks and valleys”, it’s worth considering as well.

By packaging 1-DHEA inside of Cyclosome, you can get results that mimic those of the Texas A&M study by using a lower dosage and thus experience less side effects, a win-win all around!

Wait, a second, what side effects are we talking about?!

Unfortunately, as with all true prohormones, there is the possibility (and high probability) that you will experience some side effects if you don’t employ the proper Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) as well as “on cycle” support.

    LG Sciences 1-DHEA

LG Sciences is a hardcore brand that brings the hardcore motivation. This stuff is obviously not for rookies!

Typical side effects of prohormone use range from hair loss to high blood pressure to an enlarged prostate and acne. More severe side effects can include testicular atrophy (small balls), increased liver / kidney enzyme levels, and an assortment of cardiovascular issues.

For example, the Texas A&M study referenced above found evidence of deteriorated liver, kidney, and fatty acid levels.[1] However, researchers found that those levels returned back to normal after the test group stopped he users stopped prohormone use.

    What about On Cycle Therapy?

Glad you asked! We highly recommend using it anytime you’re using prohormones in order to protect and detoxify the liver, kidneys, and cardiovascular system. Our top choice is Ar1macare Pro by Olympus Labs for its detoxifying support. On top of that, we’re also looking at Heart Science by Source Naturals, as it provides more herbal ingredients to improve cardiovascular markers.

    Back to Post Cycle Therapy…

    1-Andro Metabolism

A study has shown that there are twelve byproducts of 1-Andro’s metabolism. Many of them anabolic, but some may be estrogenic. Blood tests are highly encouraged. Credit to shortythree on the bodybuilding.com forums for helping decipher some of these molecules! *We believe compound (6) is related to 1AD but isn’t exactly the same thing.

Up top we mentioned the need for PCT. Now, technically speaking 1-Andro should exhibit no direct conversion to estrogen, and thus no need for PCT. However, one study gave evidence that in fact 1-Andro actually has twelve byproducts, some of which are estrogenic in nature.[2]

Due to this, we’re requiring a full protocol of prescription-strength PCT, think along the lines of Nolvadex (tamoxifen) or Clomid (clomiphene citrate).

For even more in depth detail about PCT, see our in-depth post cycle therapy guide for all the answers to any and all questions you may have regarding the topic.

Overall, this is weaker than the compound used in the A&M Study and other various prohormones, so you should experience less side effects, but, as always, we’re messing with hormonal systems in the body so it’s wise to take every precaution possible. And, as always, consult with your doctor before starting and prohormone cycle.

    Dosing

Take 2-4 tablets per day in divided doses with or without food. Do not exceed 4 tablets per day.

    Takeaway

    LG Sciences Prohormones

Thanks to Hi-Tech Pharma’s Cyclosome Delivery System, LG Sciences’ Prohormones are back in business and in a serious way!

Prohormones are making quite the boom in the market these days. Guys looking to take their “natty” gains and really push their anabolic potential have been flocking to them in droves. However, given the tight ship the FDA (and DEA) appears to now be running, we’re not sure how much longer they’ll be available for use.

LG Sciences 1-Andro is an ideal place to start if you’re a newbie to the prohormone game and looking to get a genuine feel of the results and effects you can experience from prohormone use. But don’t take that lightly – getting into prohormones is serious business, and we urge you to do all the research you can, and you must speak with your doctor and get blood work done as well.

As mentioned above, Hi-Tech Pharma’s 1-AD is another similar “beginner” PH. LG’s is better on the budget, but doesn’t have the ester, so you can do some research on that as well.

Again, it can’t be stated enough, consult with your doctor, get blood work ordered, and kick ass in the weight room!
