Scivation Xtend RTD is Here!

Scivation Xtend Ready-to-Drink

Xtend Ready-to-Drink Bottles are in production!

Finally!

For years, we’ve been extolling the virtues of amino acid supplementation for endurance athletes and dieters. For years, we’ve been waiting for a ready-to-drink BCAA beverage. For years, we’ve been waiting on someone — anyone — to put together something to take on the big sports drink manufacturers, Gatorade and Powerade.

Scivation, the company who was first to deliver a great tasting BCAA powder, is going to do it again for ready-to-drink bottles:

The Scivation Xtend RTD is on its way![1]

Scivation Xtend RTD

Finally! The Scivation Xtend RTD. These are beautiful bottles

The Xtend RTD Ingredients

So far, not much has been disclosed, but here’s what we know:

  • 16.9oz bottle
  • 7g BCAAs (2:1:1 leucine/isoleucine/valine ratio)
  • Taurine, Citrulline Malate, and Electrolytes are added.
  • Flavors: Watermelon and Green Apple
  • 0 Sugar / Carbs / Calories

Extra tid-bits

Mike McCandless, Scivation’s CEO, has leaked some extra information:

  • There isn’t much difference than mixing Xtend in your own bottle, except some taurine has been added.
  • This is a convenience buy. It’s expected to go for around $2.50 per bottle, but that will come down to the retailers.
  • It goes to manufacturing the first week of November, and they will be out to retailers within the month… So an expected release date is end of November / beginning of December.
  • Mike claims it’s significantly better than Xtend powder (his opinion)
  • Two studies are being done on it next year.
  • This is the first peak at their new branding. This is going to go to a different demographic.

We’ve been waiting for this

We were very excited when MusclePharm’s leadership Tweeted about the Amino1 RTDs. In that post, we discussed the benefits of BCAAs, and discussed MusclePharm’s study showing that their beverage may hydrate better and faster than a traditional sports drink (Gatorade was used).

We’re even more excited that Scivation might beat them to the punch – we’ve been long time fans of Xtend, and think that this is a product that needs to be in the hands of athletes everywhere.

From the looks of it, Scivation seems to be going after the “build muscle” market for starters. We’re excited to see whether or not this product will cross over into the mainstream.

Xtend RTD

Soon…

BCAAs to the Mainstream?

In our opinions, it’s not a matter of if a BCAA drink will go mainstream, it’s a matter of when. Scivation’s horse may be out of the gates first, and for that, we congratulate them and wish them the best of luck.
