Myprotein’s triple-layered foray into protein bars

The way of the world has led to an increase in on-the-go, transportable healthy snacks. As such, the supplement industry is an easy place to look when it comes to protein – we’ve got protein powders, so why not make protein snacks? These days, protein bars can be found almost anywhere – airports, gas stations, and even your local pharmacy! Their abundance, however, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re all created equally!

Myprotein Triple Stack Protein Bar

A whole box of these? Get ready for an extra 760 calories per day… because it’s going to be tough to eat just one!

The market is flooded with protein bars loaded with sugar alcohols and fibers, used to decrease a protein bar’s “net-carb” content. We’re not going to comment on the validity of those claims here, but one thing is certain – many people report that these ingredients wreak havoc on their stomachs. There’s a trade-off at play with these bars, of course, but its a trade-off that doesn’t come into play when discussing Triple Stack Bar.

Triple Stack Bar isn’t loaded with sugar alcohols or excess fiber, nor is it looking to be hailed for a low carbohydrate content. This bar from Myprotein was created in order to be a delicious avenue towards high-quality nutrition. Triple Stack bar is comprised of three layers – an outer coating encasing a crispy outer layer with a soft-baked core – that work to leave you feeling both satiated and satisfied, Not only that, but with this level of taste, texture, and quality, this bar is built to satisfy a sweet tooth while keeping your diet on point!

Ingredients

We won’t dive too deep into each individual ingredient here, as like most protein bars, this label is rather substantial. That being said, we’ll briefly cover the main ingredients – those that contribute most towards the macronutrients in Triple Stack Bar.

Protein – WPI/WPC blend

Myprotein Triple Stack Bar Ingredients

The Myprotein Triple Stack Bar Ingredients – let’s face it – this is a bulker’s bar! Especially since you’ll want to eat two of them in a day!

Not many people know protein better than Myprotein. The brand has quite literally made their name by creating excellent protein-focused products (despite having a massive online stock of other things, too!), and that level of expertise shines through here. Triple Stack Bar mainly uses whey protein isolate (WPI) and whey protein concentrate (WPC) to deliver the muscle-building macro. WPC is whey protein filtered to contain anywhere between 20 to 80% pure protein,[1] whereas WPI is simply WPC taken a step further – extra processing takes its protein content upwards of 90%![2] Used in tandem, the two make for an excellent protein blend – WPC is a bit thicker and packs more taste, while WPI is a tad faster when its comes to digestion.

Later on, Triple Stack Bar also makes use of soy protein isolate to complement the bar’s overall protein content. While soy protein can be divisive amongst consumers, its appearance here is hardly worrisome. Its listed towards the bottom of the label, and it’s usually just there for texture purposes. With its label placement, this assures us that WPI and WPC are carrying the heavy weight here!

Carbohydrates – brown rice powder

Triple Stack Bar draws most of its carbohydrates from brown rice powder. As the name suggests, this ingredient is simply brown rice ground into a fine powder, which allows it to be mixed into blends such as the one used to construct this bar. Whether in grain form or powderized, brown rice is a quality carbohydrate source we’re glad to see here.

Sweeteners – sugars, sucralose, and sugar alcohols

We should also note that Triple Stack Bar does use sugar, sucralose, and yes, sugar alcohols to help with flavoring. That being said, none of these ingredients are used in excess amounts. We’ll get into the macros soon, but this bar packs only 6g of sugar. Meanwhile, despite our words on sugar alcohols above, Triple Stack Bar doesn’t rely on them too heavily here. There’s also a splash of corn syrup, which isn’t entirely worrisome in such a small amount. In summation, we’re pretty happy with the carbohydrates and sweeteners in this one!

Fats – vegetable oils are mostly palm-based

While a small fat content from the whey contributes here, Triple Stack Bar gets most of its fat content from vegetable oilspalm oil, palm kernel oil, and a dash of soybean oil.

Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate

Looking for a bit more protein and “fruitiness” to leverage in your macros? Then check out Myprotein’s Clear Whey Isolate!

As the macros will soon tell you, Triple Stack Bar is a higher-calorie bar when compared to other options. Now, a good chunk of those calories come from its fat content – especially the saturated fat from the abundance of palm oils, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! In fact, the fats here contribute to both the texture of the bar and the high satiety you get once you finish one!

Triple Stack Bar macros

These bars are hefty, weighing in at 88g per bar. That’s quite heavy compared to other protein bars, but that weight is a product of Myprotein’s focus to make this treat more of a “meal-on-the-go” as opposed to a low-calorie snack.

Here’s what you can find in each bar:

  • Calories: 380
  • Protein: 30g
  • Carbohydrates: 27g
    • Fiber: 2g
    • Sugars: 6g
  • Fat: 16g

Clearly, this bar isn’t meant to be a little snack in between meals! With 380 calories and a massive 30g of protein, Triple Stack Bar makes a great meal alternative for someone on-the-go, or a large snack for someone looking for ways to get in extra calories while chasing the gains!

Flavors available

Triple Stack Bar

@myproteinus athlete @bellarahbek knows whose bars are best!

We’ve all had our fair share of bars – some disappointing, some surprisingly pleasant, and some downright awesome. The key differentiator among them – its taste! As we’ve said, Triple Stack Bar is absolutely delicious, using both its layered construction and sweetness to make you forget you’re even eating a protein bar! Myprotein, a true pro when it comes to creating excellent flavors, launched its Triple Stack Bar in two flavors in the U.S, and judging from what we’ve tasted so far, we hope more are on the way:

Based on our experience, we’re confident we’d enjoy any flavor of Triple Stack Bar. Chocolate Brownie, however, is the one to get. This is possibly the best brownie flavored protein treat there’s ever been! As long as you pick a flavor that fits your palette, we’d bet you’ll be happy with it, too!

    Triple Stack Bar – triple-layer protein on-the-go!

    Myprotein THE Amino Energy

After getting into the ‘Energy Amino’ market with THE Amino Energy, Myprotein is now back in the protein bar (and cookie!) game too!

The market for protein bars has grown exponentially in recent years. We’ve seen various brands enter the fold, introducing their own products into an increasingly saturated market. We’ve also seen the demand for fiber-loaded, sugar alcohol-driven bars, which has created quite an interesting discourse. These bars are highly divisive – some praise them for being lower in calories while high in protein, while others find intense digestional issues thanks to the sugar alcohols. This discourse has led to a movement back towards protein bars that are a bit easier on the stomach, in addition to packing great macros.

Triple Stack Bar is the latest entry in this movement against protein bars that use “net carbs” to its advantage. Using a mix of quality ingredients, such as whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, brown rice flour, and vegetable oils, this bar isn’t trying to pull any punches – Triple Stack Bar delivers a substantial amount of protein and calories that can help fuel your training and recovery efforts. It’s a highly versatile bar that can be used in a variety of ways – as a large snack, a post-workout meal, or even a meal on-the-go! Wrapped up in Myprotein’s modern, visually-pleasing aesthetic, its an excellent option to have on-hand when nutritional needs come calling!

But what if I want a cookie?!
