Blue Star Nutraceuticals Blade – Fat Burning with an Edge!

Blue Star Blade

Blue Star Nutraceuticals has reformulated their popular fat burner Blade to remove Picamilon and increase its fat-shredding capability.

With the Arnold just days away, the flood of new products entering the market is astounding. The sheer number of entries into the fat burner, pre workout, and protein categories is enough to make anyone’s head spin.

However, anytime that Blue Star Nutraceuticals releases a product, our ears always perk up! Blue Star isn’t releasing a new product yet, but they have reformulated their ultra-effective fat burner Blade.

Why reformulate an already good product?

Well, since the recent Picamilon controversy, Blue Star and several other companies have been reworking the finer aspects of their respective products to remove the nootropic in place of other “safer” ingredients.

The new formula is a doozy, with lots of yohimbine to pair with its 225mg caffeine per two capsule serivng… and you’ll definitely be wanting to grab a bottle once you see what’s inside.

Our Blue Star Blade Review

CJ tore through this bottle like a champ, and loved it to death. We focused on the high-dose yohimbe here, since that’s what most people need to be aware of, but you can read about the rest of the ingredients below!

Blade Ingredients

Blade’s list of ingredients read like an open book. All of the actives that concern energy, focus, and fat burning are transparently dosed for your benefit, a rarity among most fat burners. The only aspect not fully disclosed is Blue Star’s patented XD Delivery Technology, which ensures your body is primed for maximum absorption.

The doses below are for two capsules:

  • CH-19 Sweet Pepper (450mg)

    Blue Star Blade Ingredients

Blade contains a moderate dose of caffeine alongside several other stims that will increase energy, mood, focus, and most importantly fat burning!

You’ve probably heard seen all kinds of chili pepper and capsaicin extracts used before, but chances are you’ve never come across this new age chili. CH-19 Sweet peppers are grown on farms owned and operated by Ajinomoto Co. in Thailand – the company famous for making high quality BCAAs.

These particular peppers are rich in compounds called capsinoids, which are similar in molecular structure to capsaicin. However, according to Ajinomoto Co, the degree of pungency in capsinoids is only 1/1000 of the pungency of capsaicin. What’s that mean? Hopefully – less heartburn and less “pepper breath” – two things we occasionally get when using standard red pepper fat burners.

What about the benefits? Well, capsinoids have been shown in numerous clinical trials to not only reduce total energy intake, but also enhanced energy expenditure and fat oxidation.[1,2]

Basically, they could get you to eat less food, and help burn more calories at the same time giving you a two-thronged approach to faster weight loss!

  • Acetyl L-Carnitine (400mg)

One of our favorite focus-boosters makes an appearance in Blade. Aside from improving cognition, ALCAR is also a great fat fighting support ingredient. It works synergistically with caffeine (another ingredient in Blade) to increase “fatty acid dumping”, a phenomenon where fatty acids are excreted by the body when cells are engaged in fat burning.[3]

There’s more though! ALCAR also has been shown to improve mood[4], boost Nitric Oxide level[5], and reduce mental fatigue.[6] So many times during dieting, individuals suffer from brain fog and a general “blah” feeling. ALCAR counters that to help keep you upbeat even during the most aggressive cuts.

When it comes to focus, ALCAR is the L-Carnitine to get.

  • Green Tea Extract (300mg)

    Green Tea Catechins

Green Tea Catechins have a myriad of health benefits aiding weight loss and cholesterol reduction. Lipodrene Hardcore gets them both from the ephedra and, of course, the green tea extract.

Green tea is well known to have wide ranging benefits for human health due to its high antioxidant content. Green teas are also loaded with compounds called catechins, a special type of phenol. The most well know of these catechins is EGCG, which Blade has standardized at 45% EGCG.

EGCG is the prominent fat burning compound in green tea.[8] Numerous clinical trials have demonstrated that green tea extracts are extremely beneficial for fat burning, and even enhanced when paired with caffeine (our next ingredient).[7,9,10]

Lastly, EGCG also is a great carb blocker, as it prevents the body from absorbing various types of carbohydrates due to its interactions with certain digestive enzymes in the body.[11,12]

  • Caffeine Anhydrous (225mg)

Not much needs to be said about caffeine that you don’t already know, but still it’s worth discussing since no fat burner worth your money won’t include at least some caffeine. Often times you’ll see outrageous amounts (350-400mg) of the popular stim crammed into fat burners because so many people mistakenly think that if some caffeine is good for fat burning, more is always better.

Yet other times, we see the low-stim fat burners which users just don’t seem that interested in.

Lucky for you, the gurus at Blue Star are smart enough to realize that, and use a reasonable amount in Blade. Caffeine is most thoroughly studied and safest energy ingredient you’ll come across, and it provides a modest thermogenic effect of its own. However, it’s most effective at enhancing the other fat-burning capacity of all the other ingredients you’re getting.[13,14]

Remember, this is two capsules, so you’ll get 112.5mg caffeine per capsule – allowing you to go with one or two caps at a time, and up to three or four throughout a day.

  • Synephrine HCl 98% (25mg)

    Blue Star Blade 24 Hours

Blade takes keeps your body cranking as a fat-burning machine 24/7!

Extracted from the Citrus Aurantium plant, synephrine is a bioactive alkaloid that was deemed the next “it” ingredient once ephedrine was banned in sports supplements. It’s also been shown to be incredibly safe as it increases metabolic rate without spiking heart rate or blood pressure.[15,16]

Synephrine is a potent Beta-2 and Beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist[17,18] shown to enhance performance, energy, and cognitive function.[19,20] Moreover, this potent alkaloid also stimulates lipolysis which allows you to essentially burn fat while vegging out on the couch!

  • Yohimbine HCl 98% (8mg)

Our last fat burning compound is Yohimbine, a naturally occurring alkaloid found in the Pausinystalia yohimbe tree. Yohimbine functions as an alpha-2-adrenergic blocking agent that increases noradrenaline release.[21] Research demonstrates the alkaloid is extremely effective at liberating the body’s hold on fat, suppressing hunger cravings, and enhancing lipolysis and energy expenditure.[23,24,25]

Last, but not least, yohimbine boosts alertness and cognition, helping you to avoid the brain fog that sets in when restricting calories.

    High dose of Yohimbine!

    Blue Star Blade New

The all new and improved Blade is out for the masses. Get it now!

This is definitely a “make it or break it” part of the new Blade formula. Most companies use either zero yohimbine or small doses like 1.5mg that most users can handle. At 4mg per capsule, this is over twice those amounts, so clearly this is not for yohimbine-sensitive users.

However, yohimbe-lovers often find themselves adding more Y to their fat burning stacks – after all, if you can handle it, it works fantastically well.

We’ll see if this gamble pays off for Blue Star, but the new Blade is going to make a few people we know extremely happy.

  • XD Delivery Technology (61mg)

To ensure your body makes the most of all the ingredients included in Blade, Blue Star includes their patented XD (Extreme Delivery) Technology comprised of Fumarate, BioPerine, AstraGin, Sodium Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Succinate.

The most notable of these is AstraGin, which is a trademarked blend of Astragalus and Panax Notoginseng. This novel ingredient has been shown through research to improve absorption and bioavailability of ingredients as well as boost ATP production.[26]

Dosing

As usual for fat burners, it’s going to come down to the caffeine and stims.

To assess tolerance, Blue Star recommends beginning with one capsule (~112.5mg caffeine worth) and increasing to 2 capsules pending no adverse side effects. As a dietary supplement, take 2 capsules of Blade upon rising and 2 capsules mid-afternoon with at least 8 oz of water. Do not take within 5 hours of sleep.

Do not exceed 4 capsules in a 24 hour period – four capsules gets you 450mg caffeine in a day, so you shouldn’t mix any other stimulants in with the new Blade Formula.

Takeaway

Blue Star

Blue Star is a Canada-based company, and they do not mess around when it comes to the claims they make on their literature.

Blade’s reformulation hits all the right notes when it comes to building an effective fat burning formula. It’s got the right amount of energy from caffeine coupled with a host of cohorts that suppress appetite while ramping up your metabolic rate and fat burning capacity.

The question is… can you handle the yohimbine dose? If so, you’re going to feel the burn with this one. But if not, you’ll need to look for yohimbe-free options. From Blue Star’s standpoint… might as well go big if you’re going to go at all!

Next up for Blue Star is a reformulation of their stellar pre workout P.P.K. which should be finalized in the coming weeks. Make sure to stay tuned to PricePlow for further updates as we’ll be the first to have it once it drops!
