MuscleTech’s Smart Protein Bars are on sale!

A few days ago, we found a deal on MuscleTech’s Smart Protein Bars – 9 of them for $5.99! It is shown on our current hot deals page.

As always, we have a catch:

What’s the catch?

They’re over 2 months expired!

Normally, we’re not afraid of expired protein… but when it comes to protein bars, there’s a good chance the chewiness won’t be there and it’ll be stale.

About MuscleTech Smart Protein Bars

The stats:

  • 290 Calories, 110 Calories from fat
  • 20g protein, coming from whey protein isolate, milk protein isolate, soy protein isolate, and some whey protein in the chocolate coating.
  • 12g fat, 7g saturated
  • 26g carbohydrate:
    • 5g fiber
    • 6g sugar
    • 4g sugar alcohols

The Ingredients

Protein isolate blend (whey protein isolate, milk protein isolate), soy protein isolate, chocolate coating (maltitol, palm kernel oil, whey protein, sugar, cocoa powder, soy lecithin, vanillin), polydextrose, corn syrup, peanuts, glycerine, water, soybeans, hydrolyzed gelatin, fractionated palm kernel oil, sugar, peanut flour, fructose, non fat dry milk, soy lecithin, rice starch, natural and artificial flavors, butter, sucralose, wheat starch, almond flour, pecans, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts.

With a label like this, I’m not so sure we’d call it ‘smart’. It depends on your thoughts on soy, corn syrup, palm oil, fructose, etc…

Should I Get it?

So our conclusion? Consider it if you’re buying from this store already and are bulking and don’t care about plant-based proteins. Otherwise, we’d stay away.
