Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals holds all the cards in the ephedra product game right now. Their Thermo-Z blend is the only one that’s been rigorously safety-tested, and thus the only one we’re recommending to buyers at the moment. So you really need to look no further than their product line for any sort of ephedra — it’s just a question of which one is dosed most appropriately for your personal needs.
Is it for you?
When it comes to choosing ephedra fat burners, it comes down to two things:
- Your stimulant tolerance
- How much ephedra you want
Remember, ephedra is now ephedrine-free and stimulant-free, as discussed in our massive ephedra blog post – it’s more like “advanced green tea extract”, so it’s down to the other stims to balance it out.
In this case, Lipodrene Hardcore builds off of the original Lipodrene formula, which included 25mg of ephedra per dose. While that’s the ‘standard’ dose, it’s the other stim content here that makes this a truly hardcore product. This version is for higher-caffeine lovers.
Lipodrene Hardcore fat burner is no joke – it stands toe-to-toe with any other high-stimulant supplement on the market in terms of energy/mood potency, and might just be the strongest overall ephedra-incorporating stim blend on the market right now.
Here’s the honest truth: the only reason you should be here is because you’ve already taken Lipodrene, and you want something higher in stimulants. This should not be your first fat burner – Lipodrene Hardcore is exactly what it sounds like!

Now let’s see what’s bringing the heat here:
Lipodrene Hardcore Ingredients
The bulk of Lipodrene Hardcore’s ingredients are in a 325mg proprietary blend that uses the Thermo-RX and Extend-RX ingredient blends.
Proprietary Blend with Thermo-RX and Extend-RX Technology (325mg)
Right there and then, we know that this is going to be strong and heavy-hitting!
Ephedra Extract (25mg)
This leads off the prop blend, and we know that it’s 25mg per dose, so the remaining ingredients must be divided up among the remaining 300mg.
We’ve talked about the Thermo-Z blend at length in several other posts now, with the most detail on it coming from our ephedra mega-post that kicked off the new year.
The main take-home point is that it’s ephedrine-free — the bulk of the stimulatory components (the ephedrine alkaloids) have now been removed. This is the only ephedra product at present that’s thoroughly safety tested at third-party labs (whose results we’ve been able to see firsthand and are shared in the above post), and Hi-Tech also currently has an exclusive license from the Chinese government to sell it.
You can now consider Thermo-Z ephedra to be an “advanced form of green tea extract” – it contains several of the same catechins inside, but much more.
At the moment, this is the only viable ephedra game in town, and 25mg is the low-end “entry level” dose for those looking to try it out.
…but this is definitely no “low entry fat burner”!! In comes the next few ingredients, which are used to replace the now-missing ephedrine alkaloids:
Acacia Rigidula Extract
When the FDA made the supplement industry abandon ephedrine, Hi-Tech Pharma went on the search to find something that replaces it. Acacia rigidula and its constituents are just that thing.
This extract provides your full range of phenethylamine content, and with this particular mix you get a really nice mood & energy pop thanks to stimulation of adrenaline and dopamine production. That’s what we know for certain this range of phenethylamine is good for. Now here’s the research:
According to a study done by Dr. Patrick Jacobs, 250mg of acacia extract was shown to have a similar (in fact better) energy-burning effect than 30mg of ephedrine!![1,2]
We’re not sure exactly how much acacia is in here, but seeing it as the first ingredient inside, we’re confident that there’s enough that a couple of capsules will get you towards this dose throughout an entire day. However, we strongly urge only one Lipodrene Hardcore capsule at a time — follow the instructions! These PEA alkaloids hit heavy and hard!!
Citrus Aurantium 60% (20mg Synephrine)
Perhaps better known as bitter orange extract, synephrine is the main compound of interest here. It functions in a manner similar to ephedrine (as a beta receptor agonist that promotes lipolysis), just without any of the amphetamine-like qualities. The “60%” here indicates that it’s standardized for 60% synephrine, leaving us with 20mg synephrine which is actually a bit less than several other supplements.
If 60% equates to 20mg, that means there’s 33.33mg of total citrus aurantium here. Knowing this, we get some clues on the next ingredient.
This is DMAA, listed under its full scientific name. What can you expect from DMAA? It’s a norepinephrine production stimulator, which gives most users an incredible mood and energy boost, and has long been reported by users to be a powerful appetite suppressant.
The only question regarding DMAA dosing is whether or not it is above 75mg, as that is the range where studies have shown it can increase blood pressure. Given that it’s after citrus aurantium / synephrine, we can deduce that there’s probably just around 30-33mg DMAA in here – what we consider a perfect dose!
This ingredient brings us the focus and appetite suppression that was also lost from ephedrine. Whereas acacia has legitimate fat-burning effects, this has the “feel-good” effects for us. But make no mistake, this is the reason why so many users love Lipodrene Hardcore.
Due to this being a stimulant, it can only be used by users who have a clean bill of health as approved by a physician. Back when ephedra had ephedrine inside, one of the biggest “issues” were users who misused it. You never mix supplements with prescription drugs (unless recommended by a doctor), and you never mix it with other stimulants – not even a cup of coffee! The Lipodrene family is strong and they need no counterparts!
Cassia Nomame Extract
This relatively little-seen ingredient is actually a Hi-Tech signature; they were the first to ever use it in a fat burner. It discourages the body from storing fat by inhibiting the lipase enzyme, which is essential for transporting digested fat to storage.
Naringen and 6,7 Dihydroxybergamottin
These are both polyphenols extracted from grapefruit. Studies to date that have shown fat mass reduction either tend to use whole grapefruit or a citrus fruit blend, but we do know that in isolation naringin is an energy stimulant and dihydroxybergamottin acts in a manner somewhat similar to piperine, generally inhibiting the enzymes that usually break down all of these other beneficial substances and keeping them in your system longer.
Evodiamine is a thermogenic that inhibits fat uptake, but it also acts to moderate the other stimulants in the mix here, keeping you from going into “jitter mode.”
Abbreviated as 5-MOT, this is a naturally occurring compound that synergizes with serotonin to keep it circulating longer. Serotonin not only gives you a mood boost, but is also an appetite suppressant.
Yohimbe 8% Extract
As if there wasn’t enough stim content already, this highly effective fat storage blocker and appetite suppressant is in the mix! While we don’t know how much there is, Hi-Tech Pharma usually makes it so that there’s around 1.5-3mg of yohimbine per capsule (this is an 8% extract) – just enough to work but not so much to make an experienced stimulant user (the only kind of person who should be taking this!) any anxiousness.
Basically, what you have in the above ingredients is a lot of stuff similar to standard Lipodrene, but more – and the next part, the caffeine/xanthine blend, is even stronger too:
Proprietary Tri-Xanthine Blend (375mg)
This next component of Lipodrene Hardcore is the Proprietary Tri-Xanthine Blend (375mg). This primarily adds the beneficial green tea and cocoa catechins above and beyond what normal standard Lipodrene users are used to.
What you end up getting is 200mg caffeine per capsule – a dose not to be taken lightly when added with various stims up above!! On top of that, you’ll end up with 25mg theobromine and 5mg theophylline.
Yerba Mate Extract
South America’s most popular coffee alternative is packed with caffeine and also has been seen to improve fat oxidation in several studies.
Green Tea Extract
Green tea extract is becoming almost as common as caffeine in fat burning products, thanks mostly to the demonstrated weight loss benefits of EGCG (though the full range of catechins is beneficial in various ways).
Theobroma Cocoa Extract
You hear about dark chocolate being good for you sometimes, at least when it’s above a certain percent of cocoa content. You can see why from the extract included here — it’s rich in beneficial catechins with a profile similar to green tea, including EGCG content. It’s also got a dash of caffeine and theobromine, which synergizes with caffeine to improve its stimulating powers.
So once again, 200mg caffeine per tablet – ONE tablet at a time, advanced users only!!
Lipodrene Hardcore Dosage: Three tablets per day max!
Once again, experienced stimulant users should use just one tablet to assess. Later on, you can work a second tablet into the second half of your day.
The label says not to go over four tablets in a day, with 1-2 doses at a time, but we’re more conservative than that. We don’t recommend going over three tabs in a 24 hour period due to the high caffeine load. Taking two at once is a pretty serious endeavor all on its own.
If three Lipodrene Hardcore tabs is not enough stimulation for you, it might be due time to take a total stimulant break for a whole month to reset your tolerance.
Takeaway: A Little Ephedra, A Lotta Stims
Hi-Tech has a range of ephedra products that can be a little dizzying to try to figure out at first, but each one has its own target market and purpose. Lipodrene Hardcore is aimed at the long-term heavy stim user who has high tolerance for pretty much everything and needs mega-doses to feel the effects, but who just want to dip a toe in the water as far as the ephedra content is concerned.
For those who fall into this category, Hi-Tech actually has another product that will also be up your alley — Stimerex Hardcore, which is a similar blend of 25mg ephedra with an extremely potent stim cocktail. The key difference we’re seeing from the ingredient profiles is that Lipodrene Hardcore is aimed more at caffeine fans, while Stimerex is going to be for those who are more interested in the acacia rigidula (PEA) content.
So in short, if you’ve tried Lipodrene, yet you want more stims and definitely more caffeine, it doesn’t get much stronger than this. Only use it with a doctor’s approval, this is serious stuff here!
